In general having 2-3 ranked artifacts in chests in Inazuma is pretty inexcusable by now since the player should be around level 70 just to get in.
That reminds me, why the hell are the rewards for playing with tanuki so bad? I guess finding a funny dancing raccoon is a reward enough but getting a single shitty artifact in the end feels unsatisfying.

Still grinding for Blizzard set crit dmg or ice damage bonus for Ayaka, it is pretty telling that after playing several months I have only 3 crit dmg artifacts overall. I wonder if using the new forgable sword with the crit rate artifact (that I do have) might be just about the same quality.

What exactly is the deal with these Tanuki brats?

Yeah but the later challenges for the basic gems are grindy with the rewards being shards that are very easy to get by this point in the game.

you only need to do them 10 times, the last one around 8 or so (assuming the BP mission is the max amount you need). the last one probably has to be done so often to get more people do it in multiplayer, but in general this event is less grindy and annoying then some others, like their retarded whalecheck abyss clone

it's explained in a quest, and it's a common japanese folk creature:

at least they chose the less-ballsy version:
I like how they used them in a "show, don't tell" way somewhere else. a fucking chink gatcha sidequest has better writing than your average western AAA shit.

it's one of the reasons zhongli is so fucking OP, because he invalidates healing completely which means you can run another dps or buffer, but since there is still a timer running most of the time if you don't bring the right combination of nukers you'll still fail at the end.

really curious how mihoyo's gonna try to fix that (the probably won't tho), nerfing zhongli or any char is out of the question, so all they can do is come up with annoying shit like "haha cooldown increase"...
I'm guessing it's going to be similar to some of the events we had somewhat recently, where they completely gutted shield strength.
Also, the leaked Leyline Disorder in Abyss 11 seems to target relying on shields without healers too.

blackcliff and crafted (anemona kaguchi or some shite) are both good options that do about the same damage. Except the crafted sword looks a million times better aesthetically with Ayaka. Personally I r5'd it and have an atrocious blizzard set crit damage circlet on her (its like flat atk/def/def%/hp or some trash)

Tatara Tales is a good contender to worst quest in the game. Let's start with where it's located, which is a big ramshackle tower area that is suspended in midair, making every trek upwards a chore of whether to slowly run or teleport and glide down there. The quest itself is bullshit small tasks, but rather than just run through them you can only do the next one after a server reset. But you finally get to the last mission and it involves bullshit minor task culminating in a big fight.... done while you need to protect a keystone. The first part of the fight is easy enough, the second one is against two fatui flame assassins and the new water teleporting bitch. You need to kill the first flame guy asap and pray that the other doesn't instakill you or attack the keystone. You'd think the water bitch will be easy enough, but she can trap you in place while random thunder attacks murder you (I forgot to mention that). The reward is having that area be navigatable without ton of damage, and a fucking stool.

It ain't great. Repairing the furnace should have been the first part of the quest and then maybe you get some busy work to do as your explore the (now de-electrified) island. As it is now, you go through every nook and cranny of the place just to make it bearable to walk around, but at that point, you've already gone through it multiple times and should have collected everything of value.

I like most of the other stuff in Inazuma at least. The landmarks are super cool to look at and it's been fun poking around locations. I've been clearing out some achievements and there's a surprising amount of side-stories that have been interesting or kinda sad. Hopefully the next islands in 2.1 avoid having another Tatara Tales shitshow.

Fucking hated that area. The timegating wouldnt even have been that big of a deal but seven days? At least its over now. Putting a portable teleporter by the furnace makes it a million times less painful, though it took me a few days to figure that out

Can confirm, that entire quest chain, and especially that last fight was, some actual aids. My only saving grace for that was that having Kazuha at 770 Elemental Mastery makes Swirl do incredibly stupid damage, and even then I almost got wiped.

Was having a quest take place over several days a decent idea? Yeah, but those are called Events, and usually theres something resembling effort put into them. Hell, the only reason to clear that questline - outside of a piddling amount of Rep Points - was to make getting the new Claymore Design mildly easier, and even then I accidentally found the keys by running around blindly...

Had a fun co-op experience where me as Diona and another guy as Eula had to carry an entire 4-man Azhdaha lobby. Having to properly time my shields and heals to keep him alive was weirdly fun and satisfying. Usually I just go in with like Zhongli and Jean for maximum unga bunga and dont have to think about it.
I know a lot of people put weird builds on Diona like cryo cup or 4 piece Noblesse but honestly 2piece Tenacity (20% HP) and 2piece Maidens (25% healing) is the funnest/best way to go with her, then just stack HP on your artifacts

Dangit, now I have to grind artifacts for Diona because that build sounds great.

isn't that pretty much her default built? it's not like she has much other uses - although I'd probably go with an ER set depending on your artifacts and team setup since her burst is pretty expensive.
I just slapped my spare exile pieces on her with a healing head (can use one of the prayers too) because fuck artifact grinding. scholar would probably work as well, but harder to get.

*laughs in zonghli with range dps*
those two fights were faster than some commissions (or wait till you do the leyline on a small af island spawning ruin sentinels) with an upgraded yanfei/fischl, the main issue is that it's fatui, and when you bring the wrong chars and/or don't nuke them fast enough in the right order it can become tedious real quick. but at that point I'd expect people to know that and how to handle them, and the questline involves fatui pretty early so you know what you're dealing with.

as for the timegating, my first reflex was to be mildly annoyed too, but then I remembered that the game isn't brimming with content after the rush to clear the new stuff, 2/3 of it was simply doing another quest after my daily commissions/resin run (and you're right next to it to collect conches anyway). there's also more timegated stuff, when most people are done with it the next event should be up.

imo it was more annoyed that they both released a new event (which didn't really have anything to do with the story) and new land mass at the same time, I rather focus on exploring stuff at my own pace instead of being forced to run to points all over the map, not to mention the mandatory quest line and character filler quests they incorporated to pad it, I prefer to save that stuff for later when there's nothing to do anyway.

I think the absolutely worse thing is the water sorceress locking you in place with seemingly no way to escape.

That's the nice thing about having Kekqueen; if you don't keep moving and dodge the prison, she doesn't give a shit and just blinks out of it.

Ye, I had Noblesse on her, because I am a cheap bastard and used leftover artifacts with HP. And for some reason I didn't realize that there way better builds.

I'd put the HP NO on shieldbot zhongli if you got him (from the top of my head don't think there's anyone else yet that could make use of it), save the spare DEF parts for albedo, both have 40/12 bursts, can feed off each other so you could constantly run the buff, get geo resonance as well and leaving space for 2 others. millelith on zhong is better but requires farming, but HP is easy enough to get considering how skewed the droprates are.

for heals I mostly use maiden/exile (especially exile you'll have a shitload of from all the bosses you gonna do to level chars) since all they need to do is heal when needed, so I either buff the heal (diona's for example is a bit weak) or try to get some extra value out of their burst.

Fun fact: beidous event actually despawns a few chests and time trial activators
