I did the TFT event and i find funny how the eremite is so consistently strong in these events that they simply made her a power up instead of a unit... and she's still busted. The summon will stunlock a bunch of enemies out of their super move and her fire rate is fast af.
Honkai 3 was a female only gacha with no male self insert protag (it has a faceless captain now lol) and had a lot of yuri bait which lead to westerns to push this bizarre narrative that mihoyo are super progressive lgbt allies and so are their games, while ignoring the part of hoyo has a history of sexaulizing little girls really bad and zzz artists allegedly drew some "problematic" stuff.
This of course continued further into genshin, zzz and star rail as hoyo has consistently baits in them, leading to some people that SWEAR that alhaitham and kaveh are canonically married but hoyo has to hide it from the evil china and is totally not, ya know, the kind of stuff that would get called shameless queerbait 10 years ago.
But Varka X Flins is such a weird ship because Hoyo didn't really go their way to bait, it's only semi-popular because Varka and Flins were the only tall males in nodkrai and there was no other tall males. It's completely mindless shipping for the sake of it.
BTW if anyone is interested in Varka i'll post some info on how his beta went
-Varka is double anemo double PHEC double hex locked and he will do two element damage on field with something like 35 anemo 65 other. This means atk% goblet but elemental goblet of the other one is usable.
-Varka received only one notable change in the beta to buff his skill damage, it was fairly good but still doesn't make him super meta at c0r0. This buff also makes him more hex reliant as the second hex helps lowers his skill cd.
-Varka is not looking super strong right now. Not dehya levels ofc but the doompost is real. You can't trust theroycrafters these days but at c0r0 he is not hitting the lunar ceiling or near mavuika and he has bigger issues.
-Due to team restrictions, Varka's best team is Durin+bennet by a huge margin, providing 2 hex+ double shred and atk+heal. This means he's pratically a fake mono pyro dps who hogs 2 high value supports.
-Varka's sig is a massive upgrade and he has no good f2p weapons. Not even WGS is good as Varka is drowning in atk and needs other stats. His signature gives atk spd + 30 dmg + 30 cd (2 hex). It's actually a much bigger upgrade for him than venti and makes him much more competitive.
-Afaik Varka doesn't actually counter any boss at all. The new mandragora on stygian must be gathred so (on paper) that's a venti check not a varka check. Flins will wreck the duck and skirk the automaton.
-Varka is the only character in the game to get a personal weapon skin for his side sword in his quest and also a weapon skin for his signature weapon. This is the first time the game does this.
-Varka is 2 patches after durin and presumably 2 patches before nicole, meaning it was and still is impossible to predict his best team. And i'll be honest here, the chances of Nicole significantly powercreeping bennet here are low, unless she has a hyper restricted kit, like requiring 3+ hex.
tl;dr: Unless varka gets some stealth drop buffs, he's looking really flawed and restricted and that's a shame cause i'll probably skip him for skirk or Lohen or Linea who are supposed to come next.
edit: I forgot but varka got a slight face model change too. It's very minor but his nose and jaw look a bit smaller.

Poor varka badly needs more modern supports (hopefully nichole in 6.6) and a good F2P weapon
