Damn near Vereinsamt levels of depressionI just finished Charon's story.

Between this, Ananta, and Silver Palace, it looks like the next big wave in gacha games is going to be "GTA with cute anime girls."BIG NEWS just dropped. Without any warning at all, hoyo dropped a 31 minute gameplay trailer of their new game VARSAPURA that looks like a urban open world with super natural elements and action rpg combat.
https://youtube.com/watch?v=4NccLyRQQZYIt's about the mc joining a "shadow bureau" that deals with "anomalies" and it's very obvious inspired by Control with spooky atmosphere and the facility itself being supernatural and beyond comprehension.
There is something uncanny about hoyo using moody realistic unreal engine props and lighting with hyper anime faces like this
It looks cool but then literal "shadow monsters" appear and the combat becomes generic standard fare where you button mash and there is a dodge, skill and burst button (how original) and you can switch to character. There is """"stealth"""" (crouch and kill a guy from behind, i expect it to be used once). You can jump and glide and do a literal genshin plunge attack. There is stamina bar. The only new thing i see is a finish enemy prompt (break?) and some kind of swap attack.
I genuinely don't know why hoyo felt the need to create a fourth action game (i've seen people call it "swapslop" lol). Oh wait you can drive cars in this? Ah right, they want the Ananta / NTE / GTA crowd!
But the asthetics are not even consistent. Everyone looks mundane office workers until you go late in the video and there is a hyper anime pink haired girl doing pole dance attacks with a giant hammer.
(what is this zzz character doing here? Isn't this literally nicole?)
It's still in development and they're calling people for hire to help, including live operation managers so it's going to be live service and gacha. The game might end up good but i doubt this moody atmosphere would survive and the gameplay feels so creatively bankrupt it hurts.
it is. i think there are even npcs that believe in a conspiracy that teyvat is roundGuys, there's a question that comes to my mind here or there. Is Teyvat a flat Earth? I distinctly remember seeing that sakura glowing in the distance from a lot of elevated points. I went to the highest point of Sumeru and didn't see it, but that's likely because of the draw distance, not curvature. So, is there anything in the lore about this? A lot is said about the sky, but I can't remember anything about the form of the world everybody's on.
I references a bit of Nefer's backstory in the event, but no other spoilers.I need to rush the Sumeru event, but it tells me I ought to finish Nod-Krai part 4 first- how many spoilers does it have?
Doesn’t sound so bad, then. I’ve met Nefer, at least, though I don’t know much about her- I stopped in the middle of infiltrating the Fatui research facility.I references a bit of Nefer's backstory in the event, but no other spoilers.
Oh joy. No JuBlade Yagyu for me then,Apparently the next HSR world is having to be redone because it was Japanese themed and that's a no-no in China now. Good look to those devs crunching in the few weeks until 4.0. Also RIP the people who were saving for Yae Sakura or samurai Blade or Himeko.
Good.it's like the devs still resent players for not reading the books.
Weird since WuWa just released a Japanese-themed area and Resonator.Apparently the next HSR world is having to be redone because it was Japanese themed and that's a no-no in China now.
Finally did that "dance" event in genshin, and with my sense of rythm (nonexistant) it felt like a slog and a half. But the rewards were too good to skip since I haven't gotten Arlecchino yet. But now I'm uncertain if I will pull more for her, or save for Durin and Jahoda. Also finished the second half of the 6.1 story and they make Dori more likeable each time she appears.

It was a goddamn gauntlet. At least HSR makes you skip and move the fuck on but Genshin wants you to sit your ass down and be locked and loaded for another POV change or chess session or more flashbacks to kiddie Nefer or Rerir being a literal CIA glownigger.Really hated the new archon quest, felt like we went 2 hours nonstop from talk to rerir flashback to talk to nefer flashback into rerir flashback into more talk. They turned genshin into star rail and now the pov switches to someone and i have to watch their whole life story.
It's embarresing that I don't remember but Fontaine didn't have an antagonsitic force in that traditional sense either, did it?I really don't care about Rerir and it sucks cause Hoyo is clearly trying it's best fix natlan criticism for having "no real antagonist" beyond a vague abyss threat (i doubt even 5% players remember the weekly boss name).
Yeah it does get tiresome after a while. Especially when Chisa isn't even on the team.Edit: I want to kill Chisa and Namipon. I'm literally losing my sanity having them remind me every time I lose it.
