They did a big update on the 5th that reverted all settings to default. I had to re-adjust mine after it as well, but it seems to be sticking after that. My only complaints anymore is Unlocking characters/weapons takes about double what the rates suggest and there is a huge difficulty spike once you hit WL 45.
Gimme a call when they fix the controller problems, and maybe make it possible to lock weapons to characters so I don't have to go into the character menu (via the main menu because the quick menu still doesn't work) and change weapons every time I change character. It's a minor thing, but it's super tedious, especially when you can't access the quick menu.

More annoying is when the map and main menu function bug out so I gotta use my keyboard still.

Also, did they fix the weird clicking on the map screen?

Regarding unlocking characters, there appears to be some kind of upward rate or pity system that rises once every tenth secret letter you use, so long as you use the same letter over and over.

Or so that's what the fanbase says.

Either way, I will be putting the game down until further notice because I really don't have the patience for the tedium.

In happier news, I pulled Kelly in Mecharashi. Savings? GTFO

Is there any concrete proof about that "new" Mihoyo game that is coming outside of rome random twitter acc ?
https://nitter.net/hxg_diluc/status/1986655014266544178#m
That person is a somewhat well known leaker for HSR/Genshin, so while it could be legit, massive grains of salt are needed. Although this does line up with Mihoyo's somewhat aggressive hiring spree they've been going on, hitting up all the major Chinese universities trying to nab graduates, so they might be hiring these people to start working on a new game.

I don't know why I'm paying way more attention to 3.7 than ever but fuck me.

So I was wrong about Mem. Mem is not Cyrene. And yet she is.

Appearently Mem is the thirteenth titan and Cyrene.exe fucked with the simulation thingy and yapped at it through multiple cycles until it learned to love like a real boy.

It took the shape of Mem because Cyrene talked about fairies during one cycle to understand hooman emotions. Then it took the shape of Cyrene by gobbling up her memories to become the Not Yuri Jesus Christ of Amphoreus because otherwise Cyrene and I guess Amphoreus.exe too would be trapped in the endless loops.

It's the actual reason why playable Cyrene is a big lady and not the little girl. Playable Cyrene is the goddamn Super Cell of little Cyrene. Not because little Cyrene got steroids from all the loops.

And something something irontomb, which is appearently the very simulation of Amphoreus.exe itself. It crashed out during cycle, got in touch with Nanook and that's the cause for everything happening..that and Lygus speeding things up in the name of SCIENCE.

In short Amphoreus was never reall. 3.x is literally the Matrix movies.

There's probably a ton of detail I'm missing or skipping over or got wrong like how the simulation is a broken off part of the Erudition god. And all that shit has its own lore path.

Why is this so convoluted? I know some people are lore whores about this and brag about their lore proficiency but this seems a lot more convoluted than what it's worth. Though granted part of it is also the mediocre presentation.

I really hope this doesn't become a new trend where the new worlds we travel to are more weird alternative reality simulation dream world bullshit. Because it ends feeling kinda pretentious and up its own ass at times.

The leak that @LucasSomething showed regarding 4.x has me worried that it's going to be more matrix nonsense.

This probably makes me sound stupid and I don't mind complex stories but something about the way MHY presents it just doesn't make me too interested.

Also I'm getting kinda sick of Cyrenes giggle. Mainly because she does it in every goddamn cutscene

Because Shaoji can't write for shit. I'm not gonna lie, I kinda didn't give a shit about 3.7 story. Too fucking tedious to read. At least the animations were super fucking cool.

I just reinstalled the game after a ~2 year break(my Traveler's been serving time in Meropide the whole while) and I'm a little overwhelmed at all the different directions the stuff I missed is pulling me in. I'm planning to finish the Fontaine archon quests first but after that I'm not sure what's the best thing to start working towards. I could just do stuff in release order but I wanna catch up to current main story a little faster than that. Would I be missing out on anything important or otherwise making the story experience incoherent if I skipped Petrichor/Chenyu Vale for now and just went straight into Natlan? Or if I did Paralogism early?

Depends on if you want to keep up with what's current or just go through content in chronological order. The good news is every region is almost completely self contained and you have major breakpoints that you can skip to if you want to play a particular arc. Nothing in Fontaine affects Natlan and nothing in Natlan affects Nod-Krai. You could play each region in reverse order and it wouldn't make a difference to the story except for a few minor callbacks that you probably wouldn't remember anyway.

I was in a similar position to you having dropped off in Meropide until Natlan came out. I just hard skipped the rest of Fontaine and played through Natlan beginning to end. Then I stopped caring until Nod-Krai which I skipped to and am now completely caught up with. I still have Paralogism, the rest of Fontaine, and the entirety of Chenyu Vale untapped that I've meant to get around to.

The takeaway is that there's no wrong way to eat a Reese's play a Genshin. The game incentivizes you to play what's current with some extra goodies so if you have no preference you can take advantage of that. Otherwise just play what you want. Personally Nod-Krai is the most I've enjoyed a region since Inazuma so I was eager to fully explore that before revisiting older regions that I skipped.

Can't even do wonderland BS on ps4, locked out of it, but it's fucking built into the game so I had to delete shit to make space. There's no events, no new locations to get primos from, and the story quest that seemed like it was going to be the main focus of this year with the supposedly super powerful sinner guy and the moon stuff gets just ended out of fucking nowhere.
"ah yeah we need to restore power to even stand a chance against this abyss charged guy and the way would be to go through a portal to the last remaining not-exploded moon but you gotta get a lot of power accumulated to do it and this guy's trying to regain his lost abyss power by absorbing the moon energy so he can do that. oh wow update here's part 2 of the quest. kind of has him act like a guy that actually thinks again despite the supposed insanity due to botched reforming, it gets written off so he can be super threat bad guy;. A few pretty neat but clearly scripted battle segments later with fake mechanics that do nothing. We get some interesting backstory shit by going through his fragment but then he shows up. we somehow trap him inside the pocket dimension chess box despite it supposedly only being mental projection stuff, and then release him and then throw him through the moon portal thing that's now something that just rips you apart or whatever despite all prior cutscenes and hints being that leading to some place that's a goal. Also everyone's frens now despite the whole deal at the start of nod krai and several world quests implying the fatui are aiming to just fucking completely kill everyone and don't even give a shit about the wild hunt given the infestation of them under their base. There's also shit with the wild hunt now all just being the fragments of that one guy but that doesn't make sense given the visual implication, talks about the hunt taking people into it, and the one NPC with the local legend questline that "died" but is still fighting off the wild hunt (and then is revealed to have been revived post-mortem as part of the wild hunt but retaining his mind and memories)

Apperently I never sent the above message. If I did sorry for sending it again.

ANYWAYS I got fucked out of the new 5 star and all the little quest chains locked tot hem because nod krai does that because I got early pity while accidentally hitting furina so now my furina has a constellation point leading to a small buff instead of a new character in my party. Oh well!

Anyways, nod krais been fun but also really empty. Already did everything within the first release both times it went by too fuckign fast after all that hype and buildup. Hell, the LOADING SCREEN IS DIFFERENT IT SHOULDN'T BE THIS BARE IT'S SUCH A COOL FUCKING AREA

Don't rush. Continue the fontaine thing and if you can do the world quests if you haven't before heading to the next country. There's a big quest chain in meropede and the smurf village that's actually really cool. (non voiced one as the expansive ones weirdly always tend to be). I think it actually starts in meropede with a kid npc that's in there yeah?
callbacks that you probably wouldn't remember anyway.
No, you would if you were paying attention.

People are hurling AI art accusations at the game and have done so since it released but I can sort of see it now with Neuvilettes sister over here, Nevette.

There's something kinda off putting about her design. Maybe because it looks generic as fuck.

There's some guy named Enjou who was introduced in Enkanomiya in early 2022 and who then showed up two and a half years later in Natlan and I'm supposed to remember who he was as if I can perfectly recall every non voiced world quest. It's not even clear who's going to be important later and who's just a throwaway NPC. Are the Gourmet Supremos going to come back? What about Rana, she got a vision after a long quest chain, is she going to show up in Snezhnaya? Even the obviously important characters like the Mountain Shaper and Azhdaha I don't remember a single thing about because it's been three years since I last thought about them. I don't even remember if I'm supposed to know how mini Durin turned into a walking talking human or if that all happened off screen or if I'm supposed to remember everything that happened in last year's summer event. I just remember flying squirrels and alpacas.

There's just too much stuff in this game spread out over too much time to remember anything but the most major beats. I've had encyclopedic knowledge of games before but time passes and I can't be expected to hold on to all this stuff. One time Scaramouche said the sky was fake and then four years later in Natlan I saw that sky being fake. Despite putting hundreds of hours into this game I feel like I need a YouTube video essay just explaining all the stuff I've already seen because it's been five fucking years.

lol
lmao

The real people that are gonna be confused are the people that didn't do the event mini durin came from because the whole ass quest where he becomes human was not a timed event like the first appearance of him was. I said a good few pages ago how the resolution of the mini durin stuff was really wierdly rushed feeling in a way where it seemed like it wasn'tt he initial plan for him. He went from traveling with scarmouche to albedo making him human and no durin revival weekly boss fight like what was implied to be coming soon by the summer event thing mini durin came from at the end of it. You would have to literally not be paying attention when the game now is so notorious for repeating the same recaps over and over to an almost annoying degree now to make sure people get the info in.

At the end of the nod krai archon quests one of the characters just exposition dumps the entirety of a non timed fontaine world quests background at you in a way that's a lot less cool than just playing through the quest itself and experiencing the actual stuff where you run into the other guys in different parts of fontaine constantly in a way that advances stuff which is why I told @Trash Pandit not to rush through stuff. I don't know if it does this if you didn't do the fontaine world quests which is why I think it's important to spoil the presence of the dump rather than the contents of it.

Genshin really needs to add back in the event exclusive areas and questlines that are important to the lore, it's not like they aren't in the files anymore which makes it even weirder that they don't just slap them in. I know it's been said before but it's been bugging me for a few years now.

I certainly feel this. I'm glad I'm reading this thread because otherwise I'd be lost as fuck as to who Durin is and why everyone is so familiar with him.

I actually did play the quest and Sandrome still dumped that shit on me. I didn't need to get it recapped, thank you.

I'm still fussing about the Enkanomiya thing. Man.....

Edit: managed to get Tribbie in star rail. Hurray! Just realized that was my fifth 50/50 in a row.

Edit 2: Uninstalled Duet Night Abyss. Tried to boot it up and it was just straight up unplayable with the control issues. Tried to report the bug and appearently their customer service tools are bugged too.

Also it would not let me send a bug report due to "invalid UD" despite the fact that I had just bound my account.

I did too. I don't know if it happens if you don't is what I was saying.

Really neat area with some really cool non-voiced world quests but yeah it had some big significant ones that covered important lore shit you might in books or some item description and shit otherwise.

The long exposition recaps could be solved with a simple "Yes or No" option.

Do you know about this old lore?

Yes - dialogue moves on, no recap
No - you get the long recap

I'm beginning to think we won't get this sort of QoL until the game is just about to hit EoS. It's been five years and lots of things have remained untouched that desperately need updating.

fat nuke of destruction.png
I should have pulled the LC earlier. Goodness, what an upgrade. Turns Hyacine and her fat fuck of destruction into a G6 with a fat nuke of destruction.

Edit: MHY released a dev talk for ZZZ regarding some of the criticism. You make of it as you wish.

There's a lot to unpack here.

1762885778773.png
Lacking Aim
  • It sounds like they are already ending 2.X after 2.4....if that is the case, then....huh. I guess they are sick of this shit as we are.

  • Suppose they have gotten flak for turning ZZZ into bullshit fantasy Wuxia nonsense with the occasional military shit thrown in there. Indeed, the plot does feel meandering and unengaging, and lost much of its identity from 1.x (2.1 being an exception) because it wanted to be bullshit magic fantasy wuxia nonsense. Feels like Miyabi was a warm-up, and they just ramped it up after that. We can only hope they kick that shit to the curb.
Narrative feels too similar.
  • So they want to double down on forcing you to play as the new shiny characters for each story update. How about no.

  • On an unrelated note, could this mean they stop fucking faffing around with the stupid Exaltists and we can FINALLY get rid of the stupid Miasma nonsense?

  • So they want to avoid a Lucia/Yidrahi situation and introduce the upcoming characters early? Considering they have done this a lot, it's weird to me that they are mentioning this as a criticism people have had. I personally would like that they don't just drop characters to the side once their patch is over. Ahem Alice in 2.3. That said:
Old characters
  • So they actually address this, but uh, why use an NPC as an example? You should probably highlight your playable characters of the same faction. AHEM, ALICE.

  • They are dusting off Fairy! She will actually matter again! Now can we swap out the stupid Wuxia shit?
1762885305797.png
Non-story shit in the overworld.
  • So new shops. Okay.

  • Oh god, the Hutao/Yixuan looking girl is going to be uber special now. Yep, she's the new Void Hunter. Rip Void Hunter Zhao.

  • Map and Gameplay integration? Do I want to know what that looks like?

  • Enhanced Exploration experience....huh. So are they turning into HSR/Genshin harder now? Collectables? Exploration side quests? Were the treasure boxes really difficult to find for some people? I don't know if I like this because the new hollows suck ass. Who asked for this? The one thing I will give them props for is letting us explore and collect shit instead of having to complete the story mission first. Why was this something that took so long to implement?
1762885352183.png
Not much to say about this one other than: what the hell do they mean with "enhanced immersion" in the hollow zero? More Miasma bullshit? No thanks.

1762885495849.png
So they are talking about powecreep here. What do they mean by "specific powerups"?

Also a fresh take? If it's more Misma bullshit, I'm out. I mean, I was already out, but I'm so out, I might as well be floating in space.

Anyway! Last part.
1762885622827.png
What the fuck? What?

Was the game too difficult for newbies?
Who asked for an AFK for the stupid temple bullshit?

Brown Dust 2 is coming to steam (16 December)
Game is cool i guess but not for me (also at least for me it was VERY generous with pull materials)
Basically you put 5 niggas in their space and they have their own attack patters like some attack 3x3 or sideways and you apply buffs and shit.

Post it to the GFL thread
