Also finished WuWa 2.7.

The good.
  • The music. As much as I don't give a fuck about the story, WuWa has really great music.

  • The animation. Those FMVs were cool as fuck.

  • Characters in previous patches actually showing up! Though, unfortunately for the 1.X cast, they got a bare ass to blow. At least Caffeine Addiction and Sheep Child are here, but they don't have any voice lines, and the ones they had were just their combat lines. mah boi.png
    Though this was very cool. And having Aalto be present for real was great too. He may be meh gameplay-wise, but he's very likable, and I miss seeing him interact with his not-daughter-niece, Encore.

  • Qiuyuan. He's really cool and handsome. I don't care, gimme the stickers! If @Enginig Gaming and @Mysterious Girlfriend X can simp for Chasca, I can simp for Qiuyuan, dammit! I mean, the boss battle against Goat-Fucked Scar was super cool, and he's super cool, and it's a shame he's not a DPS, but who cares because Shinichiro Miki. 1760297456088.png

  • Galbrena loves gelato. That was kinda cute.
The bad.
  • The optimization. It was laggy as fuck.

  • The animation. Some cutscenes lacked sound effects, and they were incredibly awkward.

  • That horribly disorienting first-person section with Galbrena. If I wanted to play House of the Dead, I'd not be playing WuWa.

  • Several times, it felt as though the story was about to end, but it kept going, and it felt really dragging towards the end to the point where I just wanted everyone to shut the fuck up.

  • I am getting kinda sick of the QTE moments.

  • I agree with @Daddy's Little Kitten on the fact that the lip sync for certain scenes was horrible. Like Genshin bad. I play JP, and it's not synced at all. Which is odd because WuWa never had this issue before.

  • Those sorts of weird QTE dialogue scenes need to go, and they need to go fast. I hate them. They feel like bootleg BioWare cutscenes.

  • Cristofo. I am getting sick of this mofo. He's not quite ZZZ's Exaltists for me, but I am really fucking over him. It's not that I hate him because he's a villain. It's because his characterization gets grating after a while. It makes it easier to bear if I imagine him as Vega from Street Fighter LARPing as a playwright.

  • Not a lot of interaction between Augusta and Angel/Galbrena, the childhood friends, and the one Augusta tried to protect. You'd think they'd have some kind of scene together. You would think Augusta would have some kind of emotional reaction, however mild. to her childhood friend alive and "well".

  • Nakama power bullshit and Rover glazing, but it's digestible if you shut off your brain and look at it like a shounen anime. My Wuthering Academia.

Rip Avidius. He deserved better.

I still don't give a shit about Abby, but getting a name reveal on him was interesting. Abraxas. And he's a traitor according to Leviathan? Oh my.

Yes, the Galbrena companion quest was mercifully short, but I blitzed through that shit. Thank god for the summary option. I think Galbrena is cool, but I hate story/companion quest hybrids. Plus it's only for her.

It's....kinda hmm because this patch doesn't have much in terms of event, and Qiuyuan plays second fiddle to his own damn debut. And they stopped splitting the main story quests into two.

But then again, as did Phoebe. She didn't even get a companion quest. At best, hers and Ciaccona's were events, but Qiuyuan got fuck all. The insolence. On the other hand, I don't want to have him drone on about his life because part of the appeal is the mystery, even if I would like to know more about him at the same time.

Abby is short for Abraxas. It's been hinted from 1.1 when you give it a name.

The reveal that it plays a bigger role was interesting though. Also, did you notice the woman that kept appearing inside the Civilization Capsule? Isn't that the woman from the very beginning?

That is indeed her. I was like, "Oh, it's you. Did you return from buying milk? Where in the fuck have you been?" but it's probably an Asmoday (Genshin) situation. Show up at the beginning and never show up in person again.
 
Just tried Mizuki on coop and i'm afraid it's never been more yumemizukover. Turns out she only heals the character who PICKS THE DREAM so if another player gets it and they're at high hp it pops without healing and you literally can't save them. I do not and cannot blame teammates either because it's fucking random and no one is going to stop attacking to focus on this, including myself.

I'm pretty sure she's the only healer in the game that gets WORSE on coop. Total support death.

Hey give Dori some respect, she would never sell a fake product, she prides herself in quality and honesty!

What Dori would actually do is buy all the rights to HRT medicine and increase the prices by 5000% like a good capitalist. She would justify it by saying dysphoria is not real and HRT is a luxury so no one is dying without it anyway. Al Haitham would agree and say if any troon commits suicide it's not Dori's fault.

But srs, Dori is a legit trader, she mostly sells overpriced stuff and tricks you into working for free. If you're smart she's is harmless. Meanwhile the IPC in Star Rail are active colonizers, slavers and genociders but everyone claps cause topaz is hot, aventurine is sad and jade is mommy 😍

I always found the whole Bonajade thing a very interesting concept personally, and hope we'd learn more about it. I wish we'd get more ambiguously moral characters like Jade and Hanabi before they neutered her.

So, 6.1 of Genshin will have Nefer, Furina, Arlecchino and Zhongli. For someone who has none of them, that seems pretty packed. Furina and Arle is a must-have for me, is geo daddy still good enoygh to pull for, gameplay wise?

He's a bit outdated but he's pretty decent. Or maybe I'm just super biased since I use him consistently.

His sig though is hot ass so his cons are much more valuable.

Personally I'll see if I can get him to C1 so that I may one day get him to C6 where he's at his best.

Furina, I'll try to get her to C2.
 
This thread makes me slowly remember all the reasons why I dislike Aventurine.

- His design has three roulettes in it, one being a very large one on his back. Can you tell he's a gambler you guys? I know it's incredibly subtle.

- Every three seconds the game has to remind you that he is, in fact, a gambler. Everyone calls him the gambler, he is always referencing gambling, it's a big part of his backstory. Again, it's incredibly subtle and definitely not overdone.

- His voice actor is a lispy faggot that growls in your ear. I wouldn't inherently dislike a gay character being in the game, but it's the fact that it's some voice actor projecting and the localisers changing shit up. This game isn't about you retards.

- At some point the game just point blank tells you Aventurine hates himself and pretends being the suave manipulator which gave me a full body cringe.

- He feels like some fujo's OC. His eyes are so beautiful that everyone feels the need to comment on it, he makes passes at every man in his vicinity, he has a traumatic backstory where you see him as a sad baby, he has the word slave tattooed on his body. Gacha life-tier character. I can already hear the he/theys shlicking themselves furiously to some rapefic where he's a bottom bitch slave omega.

People on the main sub are super coping becuase they did an actual introduction of 1.3....in China only.

Including the next new banner character, Balalaika. People were somewhat aware of her existence due to leaks and data mining and stuff, but the devs are notoriously bad at marketing.

But the fact that they did these announcements....in China only feeds into my theory that they are planning to close global and focus on China exclusively.

The English voice cast for HSR is pretty mid imo, worse than genshin. They sound like cartoon characters in the way they try too hard to fit their designated character archetype. Kafka is a hot woman with guns so every voiceline has to sound seductive and flirty, Ratio is a scholar so he sounds like a perpetually posh nerd, and Aventurine is the suave gay dude (according to the localisers at least) so he talks with a fag lisp and groans out his lines. There's plenty of good VAs too but the bad is distractingly bad. Don't even get me started on the pure, unfiltered cringe that is Boothill or Himeko being unable to put any emotion in her voice.

I still miss Kinich’s old EN voice. Idiotic VA drama aside, I just think the old one was better, especially the combat lines. To me, the new guy sounds almost bored when he calls out "For the Lord of the Night". I should just change to JP, but by now I'm just so used to the EN voices and the vibe the characters give off.

His kit hasn't exactly aged gracefully, but if you can get him to C1 where you can have two pillars doing constant Geo ticks and providing Shields (the Shield from holding his skill has a base duration of 20 seconds, with a 12 second cooldown you'll basically always have it.) he's... fine is a strong word, serviceable maybe. He doesn't even get a cool passive, he just makes crafting Polearms cheaper.

Just don't bother with his weapon, I got it off a Yolo pull, it's honestly just a bad weapon, and worse on anyone not named Zhongli - his Shields scale on HP, why does his spear give Attack?
