Honestly, ZZZ's biggest mistake was removing TVs. Its clear removing them didn't improve the game's fortune. Anyone that got in early would have been more fond of TVs or at least open to seeing them improve. Anyone that was put off by them probably wasn't going to stay and they certainly haven't come back. Now it lost one of its defining characteristic and its a generic action game (which a lot of gachas are as well). I feel they may need to revisit them. Put in commissions and see if they work. At the bare minimum, it would cut down on development cost which would help to offset the game's weaker revenue.

It's ironic how changing itself to pander to newcomers might have alienated the players who liked it for what it was and were loyal.

I glance over and it looks like a different game, or at least what it was originally marketed as. The story goes from underground punk hackers helping misfits to chinese fantasy monks fighting ambiguously evil cult for the mayor. The mayor simply gives you the power to do what your hacker powers were supposed to do so we can remove the TVs. And the main character just know "mystic arts" that are magic now? Like real hard magic.

Genshin and HSR have different planets and countries sure but the hero does the same thing every arc.

btw i might have committed a huge fumble with the new theater. The new difficulty that requires 28+ units yeah, i went there. I had to use thrash like razor to filler slots and avoid him. I had to reset the whole thing so i could have a top team against ASIMON. And to my surprise i actually won. With all 10 stars.

But i did not understand the "lunar stage" system at all. I thought it would come after because on the stage timeline it literally comes after... But it's an optional thing you can clear at anytime and i didn't realize this. But now i cleared the theater and i cant restart from any point.

So i played the harder mode with more useless units for NOTHING!

The mecharashi event was really fun but the final stage is one of those "oh my god my teammate can't read" moments. You're supposed to position your units in the tilesets the correct way to get a buff so you don't get wrecked by the boss but so far only i realized how this works and the other player was yolo shooting the boss.

Next banner is a healer girl who gives act again who is super meta but idk if i want her, having 3 healers sounds too much right now.

And more genshin, they killin me with these durin leaks, he allegedly doesn't heal and needs 2 hexenzerxen to pop off, i hope it's not as extreme as flins.

I've mentioned it before, but I am one of those fools who liked TV mode. With some rework, it could have worked, but alas, we can't have nice things. Canning it and turning it into...whatever the fuck it is now really just removes a lot of things that set ZZZ apart.

Also, the superpower nonsense began already in 1.7. with the teaser/introduction of Yixuan and her...idk, fucking taoist ink magic, and near the end where Proxy becomes fucking anime Jesus and heals Vivian from ether corruption because...reasons, which was the gateway to big titty wuxia waifu becoming our fucking Shifu like she's Steven Seagal, sponsored by the stupid ass mayor.

What the hell is even going on anymore?

See you all in 3.X when ZZZ has yet another identity crisis and it turns out Fairy is actually a spaceship or with her own Cortana model or whatever.

I miss 1.X and the more individualistic feeling of each chapter with a few connecting threads here and there (Pearlman, Sarah, recurring characters occasionally), because it made the world feel alive.

But now, everything comes down to the stupid exaltists, or it's some dumbass emo with a sad backstory who's unable to handle grief, so they nuke the world or something.

I am really over the exaltists, and I have a feeling that 2.3. is gonna be more of that nonsense. And we barely know anything about them.

So, since losing the 50/50 in ZZZ, I've lost complete interest in Orphie. I may sit on it for a while because out of the next patch's character, the only one I really want is Manato, with Lucia as a distant second so when I get one before the other, I'll uninstall. I think I'm over going back like an abused ex.

But if anything, the Guitar Hero event is kinda mildly fun.

No Flins yet, but pulled on the weapon's banner, got Yelan's sig so that is going to Fischlesticks until the day I get Yelan. Oh well!

Did more of Natlan's world quests, and the minigame collection one sucks ass, but the one with the dragon is my absolute favorite. I don't care about the retarded pokemon but the world design and the music, and the story are fantastic - even if I paid attention on a surface level.

This is going to sound retarded, but exploring the underground areas and the length of the quest, I was sort of reminded of the old joy when I played Genshin for the first few times post Monstadt. It felt nostalgic in a way.

Like I get a kick out of exploring and going to vast, unknown, curious places. It takes eons because herp derp stamina limit, but I generally like open world games or metroidvanias for this reason.

People say you shouldn't play Genshin if you're not in love with the story, to which I say, "shut up, faggot. I'll play the game for whatever goddamn reason I want to."

Also, it's kinda funny how after HSR added the skip button, the suggestion of Genshin getting a skip has become infinitely more accepted. Actual plebians.

Something interesting happened the other day. They announced that they are relaunching the game.

The statement does not fill me with optimism.

Since June, we have realized that simply adding new content would not resolve the underlying problems.

You launched in December 2024. Did it take you half a year to notice the shitty quality wouldn't be fixed by giving all the girls bikini skins? Really?

We reached the conclusion that the game’s core foundations—its growth and currency structures, gacha system, UX, and content cycle—must all be redesigned from the ground up.
