Think I'll save pulls for Cerydra and Saber, which means I'm basically done with this entire phase.

I could go for light cones but I'll wait for a rerun.

The star rail beta started and evernight march and tankhang kits released. Evernight is a weird rememberance where she summons a jellyfish that kills itself and charges her lt that enhances the next jelly or something. Tankhang is basically "reverse aventurine" in the sense he gives shields but scales with attack, can cleanse, slight buffs and has does some personal dmg.

There is also the NEW Endgame mode that is basically stygian onslaught from genshin. You have to make 3 teams to fight hyper modified gimmicky enemies and they are NOT fucking around.

You get some new currency (i hate hsr) that can be used to buy... A pompom skin? Yeah. I guess you can't make weapon skins in hsr but it's funny because a pompom is cute but and "valuable" but also unflexable. No one can see your pompom but you and you probably don't see it already unless it's to enter MoC.

The new theater mode is coming and i'm whelmed again because apparently the arenas post 12 will be be some weird gimmicky shit like "Kill 20 enemies in 90 seconds but only 2 spawn at once on each side of the arena" or "kill b (quoting leaker) and it's preemptively killing my interest. 28-32 units is also a higher leap than other difficulties and i might legit not have enough to pull it off (i have like, zhongli and xilonen for geo dude it's joever).

And unrelated but i tried to help a rando neubie (ar 51 is newbie?) and they ignored builds and asked help to find chest and oculus and geez, bro got all TPs in monstat but missed a bunch of obvious chests, including the one at the entrance of stormterror lair that faces you when you teleport. Bro is either blind or too lazy until it was late.

Started on star rails story.

Cerydra....is quite the Cunt. I feel like she's the type of bitch whose nose you wanna break or the type of gremlin you'll vibe with.

No in between. I say, me who's of both camps.
 
ColdMarch the Hedgegirl's kit seems to be aimed at buffing memosprites while consuming HP. She scales of it as well. She looks to me like she can be a sub DPS/buffer for Castorice. I smell a rerun. So, unless you like MarchSteel, have Cas and Hyacine, she's probably a safe skip unless she can deal decent damage on her own, but I doubt it.

Tankheng seems decent, but you're probably want to get his LC as well if you go for him. I don't think he has other options for LCs.
 
Finished the story chapter. Felt like a Hysilens companion quest at several points, but it was more balanced with the Cerydra points. No Castorice > Anaxa Atheist this go around. That aside, I didn't mind it. I think after the last updates, the plot is getting better.

I still abused that skip button, but the summaries are nice for the scenes I don't give a shit about and give me a decent level of understanding.

Kinda threw me for a loop that Lygus was actually part of the genius society, and it would explain Big Mac Herta and Screwy's involvement. I hope we meet more members of the genius society. I still wanna meet Stephen Lloyd and Polka Kakamond.

Also, the Lygus boss fight also kinda threw me for a loop at first...until I threw Phainon at him and blasted his ass to smithereens. Hehehehuhuh.

Even though the climax was meant to be super epic, I couldn't help but be cynical and think, "Oh shit, the power of autistic fanfiction saved the day!"

Which is, of course, a gross oversimplification, but I digress.

The music was really great too. Liked Lygus' boss theme. I guess it's the nostalgia since it vaguely reminds me of Colress' battle theme from Pokémon Black/White 2.

Speaking of power, I haven't studied Cerydra's kit, but people are debating whether she's good support for Anaxa and/or Phainon. I hope to get her and see how she does for Anaxa because, currently, even though he's grown on me, he's Big Herta's Little Bitch.

Cerydra's nice for him, although he can deal a lotta damage without her.

I think Rappa was sent to die. Released after Feixiao + Lingsha + the first group rerun banner. Paired against aventurine / acheron. Followed by Sunday + tingyun 5* + firefly rerun. Released in what was basically a filler patch. Had a joke quest about monkeys or something. Her event were some very shallow rhythm minigames and about npcs and not her. She never stood a chance.

I think Star Rail kinda dug it's own grave post penacony by ironically hyper shilling units in the story where now it's hard to sell a "funny filler waifu".

As someone who uninstalled persona 5 X over a weekish ago, it has stuff i hate that won't change and all these "fixes" are to problem they created by being different from CN server and can barely be called fixes at all.

Apparently this is a thing in some gachas, a banner that has pratically zero chance to get a 5* early but with higher pity doesn't have 50/50. Some people apparently love this cause they hate 50/50 enough but on paper it doesn't sound that great to me when you count random lucky early pulls. The only one with this i liked was Snowbreak because you actually get a free standard 5* selector too.

This is an actually really nice thing but these early 5* all got powercrept pretty hard (afaik) and will be powercrept faster in global so this feels like an engagement trap. I dont care about shop changes and other bullshit. Seems like they're only changing to obey US laws, like letting you buy rolls directly with money.

It's not really helped that the marketing and her general gimmick were all over the damn place. I probably bitched about it ages ago when she released, but the whole thing with her was ninjas + rap (which she does fuck all of except one livestream, I guess) + monkeys + general music, I guess x2 (those rhythm events) + idk, fucking VR and cyberpunk (her ult) + graffiti. It's like several concepts for different characters thrown into one because no one could decide what to do.

And the whole thing felt like unserious - until they throw her backstory in your face so it's like ?????????

It's hard to put a finger on it when she feels like a joke. Still, the game makes it evident that she's an absolute batshit lunatic who's obsessed with ninjas as a coping mechanism to deal with torture and human experimentation, to the point where her entire worldview is warped.

She's completely disconnected from reality (think she even went on a murder spree in the test facility to escape and in her mind, it's just graffiti from her spraypaint ninjutsu or whatever, but in reality, there's blood everywhere because, as mentioned earlier, she went postal.

Like, what was even the point lmao?

I will admit, I was hype for her because weeb, but having seen her everything, it's incredibly meh. It's quite telling that several characters released after her have had reruns (Acheron was released before her and has had two), and Rappa is just gone with the wind. Watch her get dropped in the dupe shop.
 
A bit of an aside but I think Japanese companies need to stop this "Its X series you love but with Gacha this time." I feel like that never works because it will always feel like a bastardization of the series you like. Persona, as a series, probably does lend itself to gacha better than most, but even then, why not just make a new Persona. Mihoyo already showed you can take the core idea and make it gacha as Genshin is BoTW with more China and a gacha system. It feels better to roll for characters when they are made for the product rather than ripped from an existing one. Maybe Persona Gacha is saved but I don't think it will catch on.

It did give us the Subway Slammer and for that, I am eternally grateful.
