That's the bizarre thing about Varesa reception. I think the whole "varesa is gooner bait" drama lead to a counter jerk of people unironically claiming "Varesa is fat representation" and you're not allowed to draw her hot or slim, you have to draw her obese.

Unrelated but i relogged in star rail because i forgot they gave a free standard 5* for al imited time so i'll get a bailu for the sake of collection before its over, and now they straight up thank you for coming back when you log? I dont remember this before.

I love moments like this that really betray how little of a shit people give about the issue they're posting up a storm about. So passionate about a voice acting labor dispute he's not even involved in but can't stop himself from gooning in between.

I get the sense the other, less retarded, VAs are getting sick and tired of the stupid ass slap-fight. I would be willing to believe they believed in the SAG FAG HAG crusades but saw their coworkers sperg out and selectively choosing outrage while openly discussing and encouraging smear campaigns.

You'd have to be a certain kind of psychotic to be on their side.
 
What makes this whole situation dumber is that most characters in Genshin, except Paimon, get a quick spotlight before fading out. Only fan-faves like Hu Tao pop back up, maybe once or twice a year. The game’s a machine, churning out new characters to rake in cash.

The Natlan cast is big now, but they’ll be irrelevant when Snezhnaya hits. The lucky ones might score an event or a few lines. Keqing’s VA? Barely relevant since forever—just some event lines and an alt to push. Candace? Zero Archon quest impact, just tagging along with Dehya in events to remind us she’s still there.

This strike was dumb as hell. Natlan was peak exposure and pay for these VAs, and they blew it. Snezhnaya’s cast will take over soon, leaving most of them with cameo scraps. The union’s pocketing the real win here, overcharging fees while Hoyoverse laughs to the bank and the VAs lose their shot at the biggest gigs and cash they’d ever see on this game.

Joe Zieja always has this air of professionalism to him, which is nice. (Fun fact, he's an ex-USAF officer.)
IF (and this is a big IF) some of the characters get recast, I wonder how that'll affect their future con appearances, if it does at all. Voicing a playable Genshin character has to be a big boost to your resume, and by extension your con banner. If some of them get fired, are they gonna rebrand themselves as "The ORIGINAL voice of Keqing/Candace/Paimon/Hu Tao/Sucrose"?

Unrelated but this kinda made me laugh because it made me think of that one obscure wrestling promotion in the 90s or so and how they'd pick up former WWF wrestlers and brand them as "The man formerly known as Yokozuna" or something like that.

I wonder if they are going to do that here.

I went with Rina for my guaranteed pick. Her pets don't have a visible timer - they just poof away and it messes up my rotation. No biggie though as I'm not relying on any permanent gacha characters at the moment, and I just need another copy of her to make her good.
 
Based Joe Zieja. I already liked him from the few videos i saw like him being ex air force but to straight up call out the lazy voice actors like this? You know some people are gonna hold a grudge forever and call him a traitor snitch.

Saw it mentioned in the gacha subreddit about how they reached 1 mil preregisters and everyone who pre-registers gets 10 gold rolls + 10 standard rolls + free 4*. Apparently made by ex-phoenix gray raven devs (honkai impact 3 copy) so at least it's from people with some experience.


But it's a top down action button masher with no PC client yet so i have no interest, and even if i did i already play tribe nine.

This whole shitstorm has attracted a swath of Literal Whos to run defense for the striking voice actors. Yeah, "birds of a feather" and all that, but some of the people coming out of the woodworks have little to nothing to do with Genshin. Like who the fuck ARE you?
Of course they've limited replies, and of course Stephanie Sheh is in this... person's Tweet sucking off SAG. Semi-related, but Stephanie comes off as super brainwashed by SAG.

People only hate on the VAs that are acting like shrieking idiots because their strike isn't going so well. The VAs that are staying silent or are respectfully giving their own opinions like Joe are not the ones in the hot seat right now. This dude doesn't even voice anyone of note in game, he needs to stop leeching off this strike like it actually matters to him. Oh no, what will I do if Genshin NPC #312 gets recast, Hoyo needs to give into SAG's demands now!
