i went in expecting a nightmare after reading these posts but it really wasn't that bad? far from the worst abyss cycle we've had

Other than zhongli over kaz you pretty much used the 2 most used teams for this abyss tho. Someone without furina, xilonen, neuvilete, yelan+xinqiu and kinich/emilie burn would have to improvise or they'd struggle hard. I probably should've switched haitam for xinqiu for safety too.

gotta admit, the way genshin handles "challenge" combined with it's gameplay is a fast track to break my controller in half. not many games have that effect, so I don't bother for my (and my hardware's) sake. at least it's easy to ignore, if abyss would be a bigger part of the game (fuck IT) I'd probably have quit years ago.

any "challenge" you can defeat (or make much easier) by opening your wallet is imo moot anyway. I don't mind if anyone does, but if you do keep that shit contained.

There is just something about genshin abyss that makes it way more tilting than your average game. The switch lag (at +100 ping), the painfully short timer, the fact you have to replay first chamber if you reset the second, the frustrating bosses, the random enemy teleports, the stunlocks etc.

It's a game that was obviously inspired by zelda and meant to be chill fun but it needs the most frustrating endgame ever designed to vindicate tryhards and whales.

I've completely given up on fighting local legends, because each one is the same bullshit. Hits you for 25k, stunlocks you to death, has 6 trillion HP.

I run Eula, she is the only character that I have almost perfectly optimized. I don't have her weapon R5, and I'm missing her C6, but she consistently hits her burst like a truck. Do you know how fucking discouraging it is to drop her nuke on an enemy and it deals maybe 5% of their health? I'm not sitting around for 30 minutes whacking one enemy that can just decide to kill me when it feels like it.

Local legends was almost excusable when it was just this random super elite you only had to beat once to get one achievement. You can finally use food and take your take, or even have a friend help. But then hoyo

1-Put these assholes on abyss (i think next abyss will have the bat lady legend)
2-Put 3 achievements on all of the natlanese ones and they're absurdly hard.

One is so dumb that involves killing the turtle in less than 33 hits (before it drops the shield) which is impossible unless you do some insane arlequino melt setup. You know shit's BAD when every guide i see straight up tells you to either join someone on WL3 and one shot it or to use dino transformation to glitch the AI into losing agro and then watching furina skill kill it from far away.

They're also not balanced for WL9 lol. I thought vivianne was tanky, there is one guy with like, 5.7 million hp in natlan and a legend drake that has 3 million and absorbs up to 4 elents to get +120 resist (one achievement is killing it after absorbing 4 different elements).

it’s really not that bad. i did it on wl9 with a very mid mualani build (c0, average artifacts, using the craftable natlan catalyst r1). was it hard? no. was it tedious as hell? yes. was it any fun at all? hell no.

i’m not going to defend it, i think it’s poorly designed and a bad direction for the game overall. but on the other hand people have gotten so used to the game being turn your brain off baby easy that the second it starts putting up a fight they want to whine about pay2win whales only content. i just wish they’d find some other way to add difficulty that isn’t regular enemies with enormous health pools.

I was gonna try and save up for some new character i didn't have since I had a guaranteed pity thing but then I while half asleep rolled a 10 and then extremely early zhongli now i can put two pillars up instead of one oops.
Still eventhough I''m probably not gonna get a new character for a while now I at least have the one big buff now in terms of moveset stuff.
still not as bad as me ready to whale on yoimiya but only notice at the inevitable 5* roll I've been one the raiden banner the whole time...

the fine line between tedium and "challenging" will always be an endless discussion, some like cheap oneshots, others will say git gut. endless health pools are ok insofar that you can co-op, boost your damage or simply play better. where it becomes BS is adding a timer, because it sets a clear minimum DPS limit in a game you can pay for power and are otherwise dependent on shitty artifact RNG. and of course it's on a rotation so you HAVE to beat it in X weeks or you're shit outta luck (hopefully you got enough resin, but you can always buy more!).
that's why I prefer wuwa's holograms which you can do whenever with increasing tiers of difficulty (or rather stats).

worst part the RNG shit isn't even necessary anymore now with the game focusing more on having more characters (you all have to built as well). whalers will always whale for the newest (OP) character to beat the abyss gimmick, the rest will just work on all their chars over time. MUH ENDLESS PROGRESSION GRIND was always shit.

Blaming babies is a slippery slope and remember that whining used to work back in inazuma.

Inazuma samurai were hard to stagger and lift? got nerfed.
Specter were tanky af and float off range? got nerfed.
Pyro hipo took forever to wet? shield nerfed.
Wolflord flies forever? (allegedly?) nerfed to be stunned longer before going to abyss.
Bleed wolves push you around with impossible hurtboxes? Pushback nerfed with itto release.
Husks would trivialize shields? Multiple nerfs within beta.

Looking at these without context you'd assume hoyo would nerf the worst sumeru and natlan enemies too but they didnt (afaik). They actually started making bosses different in abyss cause that's the only way to avoid backlash, but balancing around abyss also made boss design turn to shit (Compare Kenki to Wenut).

In my opinion it doesnt matter if local legends are optional, overworld should not be so much harder than abyss. I already get salty twice per month with abyss + IT, i don't want to get salty while exploring too.

I already saw a lot of "At least papilla is not as bad as wolflord" on reddit so i expect next abyss boss will be even worse (they didnt add xilonen boss to abyss, probably cause it gets countered by kachina who is free).

At least in the overworld you can just not do the bosses if you don't feel like it. If you're trying to finish abyss you'll NEED to face the things with a million hp and periods where attacks will do jack shit. Trying to stun/hit the boss before it starts another invulnerable phase and praying it doesn't run off and causes your attacks to miss, absolutely none of that is fun.

New QoL features coming next version in genshin:
  • Bosses instantly respawn (except the wolf because he smells bad), no longer need to leave
  • Artifact recommendations will now highlight the stats that make them recommended over others, and sorting will put them higher up in the list
  • You can hold up to 2100 artifacts
That's it, no loadouts you fucking weirdos. Just grind more.

has anyone fought the iktomisaur local legend with the torches? i don't even know how that one's supposed to work (or maybe i just suck). you don't have enough time to shoot him down after unfreezing the torches before he starts the instakill. or are you just supposed to have ororon and use him to instantly summon another torch? cause i'm not pulling for him just for that.

I don't even remember what I did but I definitely used mono pyro Lyney team. Here's reddit guide for this patch local legend, it may work for you.

SD 1.4.png Harumasa.png
Crit rate 43.4%, but I can get another "free" 20% just from his signature weapon in combat and I'm still missing one passive Cr.rate upgrade from him. Harumasa being M1.
I can feel safe getting at least one limited 5* next patch.

Specter were tanky af and float off range? got nerfed.
Specters being tanky was a very stupid choice compared to the others. They're meant to be small little swarm enemies and they ended up becoming more of a bitch to fight than the actual samurai because they just would not die.

You can literally just do all 3 cheevos with Amber, dodge all attacks then either CAs or burst on it when it does its midair shield and let the scripted fall damage kill it.
