Sunday really is that "Reality is pain, we should all be stuck in a permanent blissful dream!" villain you see often in JRPGs and shit. The game even makes it clear that his dream is not true happiness and people are simply being brainwashed (as shown by all the creepy puppet imagery and puppet clockie).
There's a really stupid moment in the grand theater where he's all like "No you misunderstand me. I'm not trying to create a god or be the savior"
When that is exactly what he's doing. Hell, you have a choir praising him as the chosen one, the savior, puppets kneeling before him.
The writing treats you like a retard in trying to overexplain his motivation when it's really simple. I didn't need to go through three dreamscapes and fight puppets with Sunday jerking off to his Order Porn in the background.
Oh well the music is good. Some of it. I'm getting a bit fed up with Robin's songs and church music.
The problem is that Sunday is still portrayed as having genuine good intentions and forgiven by Robin so people really fell for it and developed an unironic cult who thinks he's the deepest videogame character ever.
Gacha gotta gacha.
Kidding aside, that bothered me too. Considering he imprisoned her, she's very eager to forgive him for everything. Robin really did appear as such a wet blanket of a character. I know it's MHY and gacha and anime shit so it's not gonna be the pinnacle of character writing but this is Steven Universe levels of redemption.
People keep going on about how morally grey and deep he is. Idk, he might be but he's also painfully generic and super emo. And annoyingly pretentious. Avoid the SundayMains subreddit at all costs.
He's not FF6 Kefka for one.
The part about him being a person with good intentions was kinda overblown too. Like during the boss battle, there's a lot of "No, you're not a bad person. You're just misguided" or "You are noble but wrong"
His cult will have you believe that "No he was just manipulated".
I wish they'd lean more into the messiah complex that he obviously has instead of glazing him. You know, play around with the gray area between good nature and ego. Dude is an absolute narc but the game just kinda skips over that or plays back and forth with it. You got Himeko accusing him of being a tyrant in the making but he brushes it off like she's wrong and then you got everyone else glazing him for being a well-meaning person.
MHY, he IS allowed to be an asshole. You created Sparkle and Ruan Mei after all. You created Childe too.
Luocha's quest was a joke quest.
That was super ass too because I wanted to know more about him since they make such a big deal about how mysterious he is.
Lol yeah, I didn't mind the Xianzhou quest but it could have been paced better. Jesus, no quests really did as well as Belobog, huh?
What i mean is, it was very obvious Mihoyo was struggling to pad out content and the backlash made them push companion quests into optional stuff, but they also expected the companion quests to fill the story gaps except many people don't see that as "content" (i sure haven't done mine).
It's a balancing act. I am someone who do all quests as I comfortably can so naturally, I don't have an issue with extra information being shoved into them.
The thing with companion quests is they shouldn't substitute vital story beats but add to them. And not be vague. Ahem, Dan Feng/Heng.
Also I wish the story would stop dancing around Acheron. She's cool as fuck but they keep dancing around who and what she is.
Firefly is the most egregious since you basically go on a date with her (and fight argenti for no reason), and after the main story ends you get a new quest that lets you redate her to see the different paths.
Dude I hate TB girlfriend waifu Firefly. The ship bait is so cringe and her death is not really impactful with how she was just shoehorned into the story. Firefly as the Stellaron Hunter SAM is far more interesting and I want more of that or her going on car rides with Blade.
And it doesn't really explain it that well. Even reading collectibles, it still feels incomplete, at least to me.
No, I agree. I mentioned it in this thread earlier but the vague bullshit was why I looked it up myself - only to get bombarded by gay-ass drama.
And now I'm just sick and tired of it all.
Sunday is an absolute necessity for Remembrance characters, even is he's a faggot. Just like Ruan Mei for BE, and I hate them both.
I am funnily enough indifferent to Ruan Mei. She's batshit but it's amusing to see how bonkers she is despite being soft-spoken.
I can't stand Sunday though but I'm pulling for Wings Jones of the People's Order anyway. I won't go balls to the walls with building him. I might get Sunday fatigue because I'm about to do that stupid redemption arc quest although I was spoilered to the fact that he apparently joins the Astral Express which is just no.
I hope I'm wrong. People also theorized he could join the Stellaron Hunters.
How about he does neither?
