I've been building wide rather than tall since I started playing the game. I like building up all my characters equally and playing around with off-meta characters and comps, so I had no problem filling out the IT roster with leveled, fully geared, decently built characters. I still timed out on multiple challenges multiple times because decently built characters aren't worth much against endgame HP bloat. I can't find any hard numbers on it, but it seems like even on the normal difficulty, the IT enemy HP scaling is at least equivalent to Abyss floor 11. That would be tolerable if the time limits were more generous, the random buffs were worth a shit, or you had more control over your team comps. To me it just seems like a bad combination of factors that would work well on their own.

Bring back the Labyrinth Warriors event, I say. That had a lot of randomness, but it was also really fun.

Yeah, i feel like it's the worst of both worlds, "decently built" is enough to clear but not enough to perfect. You're only doing that with Abyss level invesment which no one is going to have on 18 characters. Most people out there don't have Heizous with 80/200 crit ratio and they're not going to farm for him just for this mode.

What characters did you use? These were mine. I got all stars somehow, i dont think they do anything for rewards but i assume Hoyo uses them to keep track of how hard the mode is, so it might get harder or easier next time.

Another thing is that "horizontal investment" doesnt matter when you ban 4/7 of the elements and screw units that need teamwork to function. What's the point of having five pyro dps if they all need xinqiu to be playable and xinqiu isnt avaiable? hell, how many characters just dont work anymore when you remove hydro from the game?

Every other "roguelite event" they did at least kept all elements so you can play the videogame as intended.

At least it seems hoyo is aware of the criticism (SHOCKING) and plans to "optimize" in the future

I got frustrated with the hard difficulty around round 7 and dropped down to normal. My lineup for hard was more or less the same, with the addition of Bennett, Diluc, Yanfei, and Sayu. In hindsight, Jean was a bit of a wasted slot. I probably should've replaced her with Xianyun or Venti for more consistent swirl damage. I just really like Jean.
 
I had to do an arlequino (trial)
they built her kinda weird too. they gave her the second BP spear, not deathmatch (the passive gives EM and scales on elements in your team, so kinda pointless in IT compared to deathmatch).
"her" artifact set is ok I think, but I still feel I nuke harder with deathmatch and some random gladiator pieces...

IT on the other hand feels like the most artificial endgame challenge designed to remove your choices and make you regret not pulling for coverage. Have you been stomping abyss with Neuvilete+furina every 2 weeks? Fuck you (me in this case), hydro is out of rotation so they're useless now. If you dont have an E6 built Chevruse you can't even play a decent overload comp.
it doesn't even make sense tbh. I can understand wanting to make people pull (and honestly I'm fine with that when the alternative is obvious powercreep) so they have a horizontal requirement instead - but that fucks over new(er) players or people who went for cons instead. now, who goes for cons rather than waifus? the same people whining about "no endgame", so unless the goal was to piss off that already vocal minority with the artificial limits, while making it easy enough for casuals and new players no one is satisfied, I'm not sure what the idea was. I even get that the idea forcing players to "make do" with some non-meta teams to actually apply the knowledge how the game works (lol) instead of lazily copying tierlists, but again that will only make the same pissbabies whine even harder.

suddenly trying to push an "endgame" mode with actual rewards doesn't help either, unless their stats say all the casuals went over to HSR. abyss could be easily ignored, it's just a few rolls, but the rewards in IT is the stuff casuals and waifu collectors go for, forcing them to suddenly build all those characters and drag them through a row of tedious battles obviously is a bad idea. after all those years mihoyo should know that those players don't care about combat or efficiency.

and lastly, fuck a mode that requires a certain degree of gear progression when said gear progression is gated via layers of RNG. forcing people into the artifact mines for their casual rewards is a bad idea which is not gonna work. they won't suddenly get sweaty, they gonna drop the game. even if the gear requirement itself is low (luckily it is, for now at least), it still forces people through "unfun" combat. something to keep in mind most people don't roll on the weapon banner (I certainly won't after getting spoiled by wuwa), and if they don't buy the BP they have no access to any crit weapons besides the store ones if they rolled often enough (slim chance), which artifacts would have to make up. to make matters worse you can't change gear in IT, so you better have copies of those mid weapons (which only comes from fucking billets, which are random as well and limited to weekly bosses) instead of r5.

and personally, combat "events" in genshin bore me to tears. abyss I could ignore, events I just grab the rewards, but this thing being regular now is just gonna burn me out if anything.

not surprising since the whole thing feels like a kneejerk reaction now that they're slowly getting competition, and then blew up in their face. the amount of QOL alone compared to the years before is like someone mixed amphetamine into their drinking water.

I see both modes, SA and IT, are catered to whales or "nerds" are willing to spend primos on resin refresh. SA keeps getting more and more HP inflated enemies, multi waves, invulnerable time and/or tanky shield type. Slow power creep each nation.
This SA I have like 32* because I can't be bothered with fire and electro slime combo to defend obj properly. Then again, that's my fault for not having any CC anemo units like Kazuha and Venti. I'm missing out like 150 primos. Which is funny because I also have the most difficult time in defense obj stage in IT.
IT mode, not completing hard difficulty, then players will miss out like 120 if I remember correctly.
Neither is actually like worth that much hassle for barely a wish for me. But I understand for people feel really annoyed that they can't complete both game modes fulfilling because rng gear farming, time and investment.

More Natlan. Shounen tournament arc incoming, probably.

btw hoyo fixed Neuvilete macroinfinite 360 spin and CN complained so they unfixed it and are giving everyone 1600 gems, log in today to grab'em.

They actually added the ability to view previous dialogue in 4.8 and hide the UI during dialogue.

not happening till someone else does it first like most of the stuff they added recently.
however it's the go-to infinite grind "endgame", so it's unlikely (otoh gatchas already have plenty of mechanics to make people log in daily anyway).

Look, I'll compromise with having a form of pity for artifacts. After your 10000th, you get one guaranteed to have good stats or maybe even just that main stat you want. Hell, let me trade in 1000 5* artifacts for 1 good one. I'll take anything over what we currently have.

To this day, both my Clorinde and Arlecchino are missing 2/3 artifacts each, because I can't get the goddamn correct main stat.

I always proposed just making it a fucking timesink instead. like even if you get one BIS per week (after logging in each day) it would still take over a month for ONE char. now imagine 2x3 for abyss, or even fucking 16 for IT.

the problem is it "works better" if players never "finish" the grind. once you're "done" there's a good chance you gonna drop the game or start playing something else in the meantime etc., so they make sure you're never finished.
fwiw nothing in the game requires BIS rolls really, it's just a bonus and you can go by with 2x2pc or even a mix of good substats.
 
At this point, Genshin artifact can be said "Genshin could never..."

I'm a bit disappointed that Natlan character E skill serving as travelling vehicle has limited fuel though.

Natlan bosses, a bootleg hybrid Tigrex - Rathalos, of course fun flying in the air all the time from old school MonHun and Dendro bunny Snorlax.



Few 5.0 QoL that I like and other new things.
First Fontaine artifact domain for strongbox.
Automatically skipping floor 9 and 10 in Abyss.
Drop rate increases for Spectres, Kaigiri - Nobushi, Ruin Guards - Graders and Abyss Mages.

New billets to farm..... 4* Natlan craftable weapons: Def sword as F2P coping Albedo - Chiori, a HP Catalyst F2P for Mualani - using E skill to boost basic attack damage, ATK Claymore more E skill damage if Pyro is triggered. DEF Polearm and generic ATK bow.
Event gives a different 4* HP scaling catalyst, an AOE attack scaling by 40%HP can be triggered every 15 sec.
Banner: Mualani & Kazuha, Kinich & Raiden.
One additional row for characters and signatures to show off in profile.

This is a feature star rail has had I believe since day one, just like the UI hide and history in dialogue.

Why it has taken them months (but really years) to add this to Genshin I don't know. China hates us I guess.

I assume because genshin still makes money hand over fist, and a bigger reason being that HSR/ZZZ caters to a different crowd. wuwa is the first real genshin competition, and there are at least two more coming from established gatcha studios. mihoyo can't just simply go anymore "if you don't like it play something else, lol", because that's what people gonna do.

Nothing has been said on domain drop rates, but please more would be nice.

Idk either, but this is my contrarian opinion, I'm somewhat dreadful of increasing character leveling cap.

I understand that higher level cap also means SA enemies should be easier at floor 12 due to scaling. Both HSR and ZZZ have lower level cap and artifact/relic levels, ZZZ even more so (60) meanwhile blazing through account profile level. Albeit, HSR and ZZZ require players invest resource more into character abilities/talents. Yet I feel weirdly at the end Genshin still so expensive in leveling multiple stuffs more so than two other games, only to have Raiden and Wanderer somewhat at minimize Mora cost. Few other characters are rng with crafting talent books or leveling up materials.
For me, at least with WL9, it should give more rewards overall, which means more resin efficient and bit more Mora in long run. . I'd prefer Hoyo put some more thoughts in resource grind for Genshin at least.
