I've long since reached a point that I'm not gonna judge people for whaling - and if nothing else, the Welkin and the Battle Pass are actually somewhat worth it. Most of the rest of the Shop is just there as Time Savers more than anything else - save some time farming hundreds of Spectres just to get some of their Blue Drops, for example.

The Premium Gems are definitely a scam though. Sure, the pity makes it less potentially painful that some other Gacha games (looking at YOU, F/GO), but barring the once a year Bonus Reset it's not worth spending over $100 and not have get enough Primos to convert to a SSR.

It depends on how patient and sane the player is handling money, and sadly this game is both extremely stingy and has crazy fans.

Like, genshin is even worse than normal gachas because characters can take a whole year to return so the fear of missing out hits much harder. Combine that with the fact it takes 2-3 months to realistically guarantee a 5* drop in the game and people feel pressured to spend.

The welkin and the bp are the only things worth buying but they still pressure the player into playing everyday which in itself pressures them into buying the next welkin/bp. While 15 dollars per month is pricy, it's hardly worse than modern games out there. Everything else is a scam tho and people who spend on it should be shamed for it (unless you have money to burn i guess, then it's your problem).

Also, the pity system is not a "generous" thing that makes genshin more honest than other gachas lol. It's a trap specifically designed to make you spend "just a little more" until it becomes "worth it". The weapon banner is especially awful since the path points dont carry over so if you it becomes "truly wasted" so you're effectively guilt tripped into spending more.

I'll defend low-spending on this game because if your primary goal is to secure characters and level them up in a reasonable amount of time, BP/Welkins is pretty effective for a (relatively) minor amount. I wouldn't really recommend it though, especially if you're more of a player who just wants to clear content. Personally, I don't feel weird about it because I'm the type of person that's willing to spend a few bucks a month on distractions anyway, so while I acknowledge the scheme, it's not really changing my spending habits.

Whaling though is definitely confusing to me. From what I've seen, it's actually an active detriment to the gameplay experience because most whales spend money to never figure out Genshin's systems and can't team build for shit. This is especially true for the whales that fall into that OCD hellhole where they need to collect every weapon and every character, but then have to further supplement their resin with more whaling because they'll never have enough to keep everything leveled up. And all that time and money sunk into making an already easy game even easier?

also depends what you feel you get "out" of it (in general, "fun" per hours is a kinda meh metric). the daily chores are minor enough you can do as part of your daily routine, outside of that you get constant content additions, events etc.
it's also a bit less than 15 bucks, BP goes for 6 weeks, so it's 2 per quarter + 3 welkin.

(although i keep getting most of them on complete accident when trying to build pity which is annoying as fuck admittedly)

I'm thinking of going for Ningguang now for the Lantern Rite reward. But first I need to man up & finally get from AR25 to AR30 after 3 months of locking myself there.

There's the Ayato coming & 2.6 will have the Kazoo & a potentially a Venti rerun banner so there's that.

Zhongli has never left my team since I got him, I’d personally go Zhongli. I have him c1 and his shield uptime pretty much makes a healer unnecessary unless you’re doing spiral. Kazuha is alright but I prefer Venti over him (which seems to be an unpopular opinion).

Damn, those were some damn good rolls. Beidou, xinqiu, fish, bennet and sayu are great 4*s and i recomend training all of them to have those elements covered. Yanfei is generally considered worse than 5* pyro dps but she's definitely viable and strong at high cons. You got widsith, dragonbane and sac claymore too? Those are overall great weapons too, no bad rolls there.

Getting anxious for my turn, just 5 minutes left (thanks for the code too).

-zhong came on first 10 pull (70-80~) and was guaranteed
-ganyu came on 70-80 and i wont the 50/50
-got FIVE beidous (c6 woo), 3 xinqius (c4), 1 yanfei (c3), one noele and one xynian (c1...) and a fav lance (r2 now)

Overall, feel pretty happy about it! I'm actually wondering if i should roll 20-30 more hoping for a new xinqiu maybe? would it be worth the risk? Getting a c1 so early would be fine by me, i still have 180~ fates worth of gems saved.

Only took 30 pulls, also got a Dragon's Bane, Xingqiu's 4th constellation and Beidou (already maxed). Fortunately, this leaves the wish stockpile mostly intact.
Edit: Holy shit Ganyu easily does lots of damage.
