Remember back when a series of MMORPGs came out, each one claiming to be the World of Warcraft killer, and all of them came and went without killing WoW?

The same thing's going to happen with Genshin Impact and any of its intended killers.
 
I remember SOE taking an already good game in Star Wars Galaxies and turned it into a wow clone and ripped all the soul right out of it.

Of course, this is my nostalgia goggles talking since every time I try to play the EMU I wonder how I could love the janky mess, but at the time it was the best game ever.
 
The only Genshin killer will be Genshin Impact 2: Celestia Strikes Back, as others have said, any game that has the "Genshin Killer" rep attached to it is going to crash and burn like all the games that attempted to dethrone World of Warcraft or League of Legends.
 
Reached the "true endgame" of mecharashi aka armed conquest aka beat this boss that has a really REALLY dumb gimmick.

Like, one boss will run around spamming aoe missiles and gets more action points per target hit, and at max AP he does a oneshot move. He also regenerates and caps hp of all parts except head after dropping below 50% hp and is immune to damage below 70 (multihits are bad).

The other simply kills you if you stand nearby it when his turn begins. Literally. You just eat a 9999 dmg orbital strike and die. As if that wasn't enough, his attacks with inflict complete silence and lock all your actions. If an mob comes close to him he will get free extra action.

So how does one even deal with this? Well, by cheesing it. The first can be surrounded at turn 1 if you chain kills with the right units (i don't have someone who can do that), a tank can resist death once and any melee (i don't) or sniper should only attack the head part and it will die without regenerating.

The second can be hard cheesed by using a unit that can tank death at 1 hp and having her back and forth eating shit while 4 people snipe/bomb the fuck out of him and kill the mobs. In fact, i saw a guide and got it wee.

So yeah, i realize now that this endgame is autistic. Like, modern yugioh or fire emblem heroes skill description autistic. But it's cool, it's only pve and there are guides out there so it's cool. I still dont have pilots to make 3 teams for now but i'll try to clear at least 2.

You can borrow someone from your guild which is honestly really helpful, but i left my guild today so i got nobody for sunday...

Mecharashi global has dropped to 400k (still higher than i expected, this is niche game man) and jp raised by 50%, i think it's the anniversary there (apparently super Rosa and her mech are very OP and destroyed the game's balance).

Duet night abyss is in the list, presumably cause it has cosmetic gacha so technically still a gacha game. Meaning it's back to the thread kiwis (the DNA thread posters are all from here lol).

Etheria is alive because it released in CN but they might kill it again. ZZZ needs more bikini skins. WuWa got hit with the "curse of the most hyped character" again. Persona 5x keeps shooting itself and no persona comes out (p3 joke). Ok i'm done.

Genshin taking the crown back makes sense, we had Flins (hoyo marketed him really hard), Nefer AND miliastra, the latter making this too hard to compare now. Like, Genshin is now officially two games with completely detached progression and monetization, the second being essentially an infinite game maker game. And both are going to make a lot of money. The competition can barely muster one functional game.

And unrelated but pokemon tcg still making +40 million is hilarious. The game is literally a bunch of flashy digital images in a white background, it has to be the lowest budget game in that entire list and the most profitable on practice.
 
I wonder how much the NTR controversy in CZN hurt sales. Still a respectable positions and technically it has half a month to operate.

Failed refugees, oh well.

Though the gacha is mainly an afterthought, and the rates are quite shit and poorly explained. Granted, it's a skin banner, so there's zero gameplay advantages, zero way to farm for premium pulls, so it's mainly for bragging rights and whales.
  • Pity does not carry over between limited banners. Your count resets when the banner ends.

  • Rates are 0.3%, no soft pity, and hard pity comes at 90.

  • The banner is really badly explained, but from what I understand, there's not a 50/50 but a 33/33/33 with a base rate of 0.3%. Meaning that when you pull early or hit hard pity, you get either the skin, 25 of a special currency or 50. However, if you don't get the skin, you can buy it alongside other shit in the shop.
It's a bit shite, there's no F2P option to farm for any of this, but I understand the logic here since it's non-vital features and they gotta make money somehow. And it's really just outfits.

Although with the droning way of unlocking characters and weapons, suppose there's that too. I fucking knew there was a catch when they announced the unlocking system.

I had to look this shit up and hahaha what the fuck. Apparently a character named owen talkes to a female character which is LITERALLY CUCKING and people want him to die. And the devs will do that???

Money makes the world turn as they say, I doubt they'll have any audience outside of the ML autists therefore they either cater to their needs or EOS, the game is nothing special from what I've seen and the gacha market currently has too many games, you have to either be able to compete with the giants (Hoyo games, Arknights etc) or cater to specific niches.

They fell to the oldest mistake in the book, making characters of different sex interact meaningfully. In general the plot is a mess of selling itself as far more grim than it ends up being and the player character is basically a non entity to the point that no one comments when he gets stabbed, despite the whole plot centers around him dying dooms everyone else. It needs a rewrite to be edgier.
 
Fuck Mihoyo for forcing me to use Hydro Traveler, the worst character in the game by far during a cool story battle because wow that whole fight convinced me that I was better off missing the 50/50 on Nefer's banner.

What happened with Snowbreak? I keep hearing about some "NTR Drama" and a personal lolcow of mine was also whining about it. Tried googling but ended up finding drama about some Japanese cosplayers dressing up as the characters instead lol.

Snowbreak had a lot of dramas over the years, mostly due to it becoming a shameless "master love" type of game with unsufferable chinese fandom, so you'll have to be more specific.

I don't check on it anymore, that ntr drama might've been that time a female villain stepped on a nameless souldier which chinese cried as "foot cucking" that i mentioned in the thread, but it was some time ago, if there is a new one i missed.

The cosplay drama was old but it came back recently. Back when snowbreak was starting to finally become sucessful, devs marketed in conventions with japanese cosplayers. Chinese fans said that one of the cosplayers "hates men and the devs hiring her is an unforgivable sin" (i heard she only made a pro-woman rights tweet once?) so the devs swore to never hire cosplayers again.

A few months ago they hired cosplayers again and chineses were furious, even if the cosplayers this time were clean, because they took it as backstabing.

Just glanced the last update trailer and it's REAAAALLY cringe.

NTR, is a shortened version of netorare, a Japanese word meaning "to have your partner stolen". In the case of gacha games, having a female character talk to another guy/in a relationship with another guy other than the MC (even if the MC is female) = NTR.
