I think I understand what is going on, it's just a very obscure joke. Hu Tao has a cooking passive that when she cooks any dish, there's a percent chance she will make an additional "suspicious" dish. I never fully understood the implication, but I figured it was either a) Hu Tao as a natural prankster makes a botched version of the dish to frighten people before presenting the actual meal or b) Hu Tao's association with death causes the ingredients to rot, so she has to remake the dish. For this commercial, I guess what they're going for is Hu Tao made disgusting udon, so the rest of the characters go for the cup noodles instead.

I meantioned that but i dont think it was the idea. I assume hu tao is only there because they needed a liyue rep and hu tao is VERY popular in brasil, so of course they'd use her and not xiangling who is mostly seen as boring.

If you want to take it that far, that dish can't be "suspicious" because it's a custom dish and those are only ever perfect. We also SEE the cooking minigame and she did it perfect. If it was really trying to be THAT clever, they wouldnt have yae dislike her favourite food or show hu tao perfecting the dish.

I dont get this meme that hu tao is a bad cook because of her passive. It's called "the more the merrier" and the icon is a chef ghost. I always thought the idea was that her ghost also made the dish with her but not as good (or intentionally bad) so you get a second bad dish for free.

This ad has a weird aura of "genshin is anime so lets do something wacky random and fast paced like those japanese commercials".

Yes that's literally what the ability s supposed to imply. There IS a character that's canonically horrible at cooking. Ei is the only character so far that has a passive that literally forbids you from selecting her in the cooking menu.

There are technically others who are bad too going by their dishes. Amber's steak is raw one side and burnt the other and the description says you only eat to make her happy.

Raiden not cooking is also a double joke cause Honkai 3 raiden is a great chef but genshin one never cooked before.
Shogun is also the only character with seemingly no favourite food or dish, it's only Ei who likes sweets.

ayato has the same passive, I always took it they just suck at cooking (that's basically what the suspicious dishes are).
you also get them if you don't hit the best spot while cooking.

Ayato's passive is a joke on the whole "mystery pot" thing he plays with Thoma forcing him to eat weird food. It's not necessarily that he's a bad cook but that he's trolling thoma. You also 100% need to cook perfect to get the extra suspicious dish.

btw some big furina changes today and like i expected its mostly a buff to solve her burst drawbacks.

-Furina summons now take all eat more health from your team, from 2/1/3 to 2.4/1.6/3.6.

-Furina ult cost decreased from 70 to 60 and CD from 18 to 15 but her lvl 10 scaling also had a significant drop from 31.5% to 20.5% hp. It's still 18s duration

-Her maximum stacks decreased from 450 to 300 but now she gets slightly higher conversion, effectively going from 99% max buff to 75% max.

-Her c2/c6 were shifted and so were her c3-c5.

In other words, her burst dmg and buff was nerfed but now she gets stacks much faster to the point you probably dont need a fontaine unit anymore to cap it around 30s with a group healer. Also, her con changes means Hoyo is shifting her whale focus into her burst. C1 is 150 stacks for free, C2 now increases cab 150 and c3 is +3 burst.
If you wanted C2 for the hydro infusion then sorry but that's locked to c6 now.

Furina still aint no xinqiu but she is pretty much the best dmg buffer in the game now, the biggest loser here is probably Mona because i can't see a scenario where she is worth using over furina right now.

So, while I'm still waiting for Arlecchino and Clorinde, I think I'll burn maybe 20 wishes on Furina if she seems fun to play. I still don't fully understand how she works, but whatever.

Kinda like fishl with less precision, but with 100% uptime, also with healing mode and some buffing capabilities. But her damaging summons drain hp from your whole party, which is a detriment unless those characters can utilize this.

The decreased energy cost is a relief. Trying to cover a 70 cost burst on an off-field unit might have required an ER weapon or sands, but 60 will hopefully mean I can get by on good substat rolls alone. The burst damage nerf is whatever, she was always going to get the most out of her skill damage, so I don't really care. I was considering going for her old C2 at some point because of the alternative play style, but shifting it to C6 is a huge nah from me, dawg. I'll settle for what lady luck grants me.

Star Rail
got Jingliu within 50 pulls, and god damn is she strong, tied with Dan but she can fit in any team unlike him, also pairs perfectly with Blade

Got E1 Himeko in my first few pulls for Jingliu but I was only about 20-ish pity in so it's not too bad. Debating on whether I keep rolling or save my guarantee for Topaz & Numby. While I don't have any real ice DPS characters other than Herta I also can't say I've really needed one. Since I've got both Blade and DHIL I can simply bring Silver Wolf along in the event that the enemy isn't weak to one of those and also get a handful of other debuffs. Pela can also do decent-ish damage at E6, just not when paired with someone like DHIL since she needs to burn skill points to do that damage.

I also pulled for both Fu Xuan and her light cone and I can't say I regret either of them. When she has her cone you can practically skip bringing a healer entirely, although bringing ANY healer can make you virtually invincible provided the enemy can't one-shot her, which I've yet to see happen so far. I've seen a few people kick around builds using the 2pc healer set and outgoing healing relics to allow her ultimate to better sustain the team. The only real issue is debuff cleansing, although her A6 trace can let your team resist a crowd control debuff once every few turns or whenever you reapply her skill, that doesn't apply to other kinds like DoTs or anything. I'm planning on using my 300-pull 5* to get Bronya if I don't get her before I reach it so it shouldn't be an issue eventually.

Also I dunno if each planet has a different writer or something, but even though we're going back to Belobog for this new chapter it still already feels more interesting than the latter half of the Xianzhou stuff.

I got Gepard, which guarantees Seele for me. I completely missed her banner. My QQ is E7 now, Sampo is at E5, and Tingyun at E4.

I'm gonna keep pulling in hopes of getting Sampo's last Eidolon and maybe E6 Tingyun. I gotta keep an eye on my pulls though.

I also pulled for both Fu Xuan and her light cone and I can't say I regret either of them.
My Fu Xuan isn't fully maxed out, and she can sustain my teams. I used 2 pieces of Longevious and 2 Hackerspace for more speed. Got an ERR rope, and in 3 actions, her ult's up. I want to use Broken Keel on her, but I need more Effect RES to get the Crit DMG bonus. I'm hardly using Luocha right now, unless I do MoC or Swarm. I also got Lynx, and she's just sitting there.

At this point, for limited 5* dps if you really need one for some reasons, especially to farm more efficiently then roll.
Otherwise having a Quantum and Imaginary dps char is better since for MoC, you need either one element to cover one side. New FoTM char is used along with new FoTM specific mechanic.
For simulated universe, well depends on what kind of Path shenanigan you would like to use for grinding. Having more characters to enable different choices should be fun.
I pretty much have E6 Quinque and E6 Herta to cover for normal farming most of the time. Himeko should be fine for calyx farming too.

I doubt that they only have like one writing team for a live service game though, main story, side quests and events. Beside, Belobog had like 2 years working on before HSR got released, there were some changes to Belobog. Then there's Pela's age thing...., not a big deal in grand scheme of thing anyway.
I'd say since HSR adopts constant and strict schedule game updates. There will be some problems with story writing, whether it gets rewritten, cut or "nothing burger" despite constant teasing or promotion like Xianzhou Luofu, Highcloud Quintet and companion quests relying on big sad reveal moment at the end to explain character trait/motivation.
Who knows what will it be like for Penacony.

I'm starting to think that playing the game for a couple weeks every 3 months may not be a good idea. I think I only unlocked MoC and world ascension 2: Trailblazer Boogaloo like 2 weeks ago. I have a lot to catch up on

Got greedy trying to get fischl cons (still C3 only aaaaaa) and got DEHYA'D at 69 pity. I dont even hate her or anything but damnit i cant take it anymore fellas, i got the two post release 5* before i ever got jean, at this point it feels like i will NEVER get jean aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, at least i can flex dehya on coop i guess...

Either way, my neuvi is really living to the hype, despite using heart of depth and proto amber he's pulling his weight and since he's hydro he works as enabler too, very fun and good unit, other than being VERY shield reliant on realistic abyss threats.

1697645745483.png
(zhong's shield broke sometimes but he's not full hp. Also shoutouts to barb not letting me feel bad for skipping kokomi)

BTW and Wriothesley released and he doesnt seem meta changing or anything but fine if you dont have ayaka i guess. His C1 is the most overloaded and broken c1 in the game tho so he legit looks imcomplete without it, keep that in mind if you roll for him.

Funny this mentioned cause i just heard of some rumor/conspiracy theory that one of honkai star rail writers hates women or something i guess

Also, i feel like the reason belobog was so much stronger is because it's just an epic heroic adventure where you meet new people and everyone helps on the way to save the planet, while Luofu has most characters barely do shit, a ton of offscreen lore bombs and it's all setup. Like, i didnt do any of the luofu story quests and the story looked like rushed garbage where you say hi and bye to everyone.

This isnt like genshin where character quests are glorified dates, they're massive story bombs that explain and setup everything the story doesnt. Like, if you don't do Jingliu story quest you have no clue what the entire cloud quintet was about so Blade and Daniel's drama at the story has no weight.

If the new belobog quest looks better written than luofu, it's because it's not belobog's quest, it's Topaz character quest (she appears at the express after you do it).

After doing the try out for Wriothesley, I'm actually tempted to do a couple of pulls for him. I feel like I should be able to get him and still have time to gather enough for Arlecchino whenever she happens to drop.

Well, Arlecchino seems to be after patch 4.5, long way to go. Patch 4.4 is around Lunar New Year 2024.

Preferably having Dehya at C2, maximum duration and comfort for her E skill. May use her instead of Zhongli for Neuvillette, doing vape - burgeon and/or hyperbloom. Few youtubers having her build typical EM. A Japanese whale (C6-R1, maybe R5 in some cases), Henna Oyaji, builds her with CR-CD instead with Golden troupe. He also tries her with melt Wrio - Nahida - Bennett.

Checking that and twitter account, seems like cope for fujoshi with Dan Heng and Blade shipping.
"Oh no, both are wearing jade jewelries. Totally for couple and in love with each others.". If they can't read implication from Dan Heng companion quest and trailer, even few ghosts from Waterscape, there is implication between Baiheng and Bailu. Especially that Baiheng is the one in Highcloud Quintet group that everyone cares for the most.
Also, Dan Heng isn't Dan Feng anymore, shipping Blade and Dan Heng is even more retard. It's like none of these shipping fags actually pay attention to entire Dan Heng story in Xianzhou. Nevermind, being delusional copium is a trait for shipping fags, muh lore, muh canon/headcanon.

Don't even get me on pathetic English Genshin voice actor pandering about Alhaitham and Kaveh. Oh nyo, redoing the voiceline because muh implication. Meanwhile, Chinese one is deadpan, JP is similar.

As someone who's done some pretty cringy things on the Internet over the years - shippers are legitimately the worst thing of any fandom, especially if they're allowed to overrun the fandom (see - MHA. Granted MHA has more problems beyond the fujo's overrunning it). I know a few shippers I've spoken to over the years who are at least somewhat well adjusted (read - don't try and declare their precious ship as canon, and your a Nazi if you think it isn't) but they;re so few and far between it's unintentionally hilarious.

Somewhat back on topic for the thread - who the hell designed Wroithsley's C1, and what were they on? It feels like it should be a higher Constellation than it is, hell I actually went out of my way to pull C1 on him, and I actively don't care about pulling Cons on limited characters.

It had to be C1 because it's bait, they specifically made Wrio's kit is kinda clunky at C0. Imagine having a skill that eats your hp but stops working at <50% hp and a passive that makes charge stronger and restore hp but ONLY works once you're below 60% hp AND only procs every 5s. Wrio's bread and butter is to do 5-6 attacks into charge to heal back and do a boosted melt but he can't do that fast enough with his passive CD.

C1 solves that by giving him a second charge stack every 2.5s, bumping the bonus from +50% to +200% AND increasing skill duration by 4s. This is the most "overloaded" C1 in the game. It's like if Hu Tao C1 didnt just remove charge cost but also gave her a significant dmg boost and increased skill duration.
