Introducing predatory monetization in WWE games was never going to pan out. You can do that shit for looter shooters and get away with it, but most of the people who play wrestling games have been playing them for a decade plus. Someone who played HCTP, SvR, 2k13, and 2k14, aren't going to impressed by skinnerbox manipulation when they have a frame of reference on what constitutes a good wrestling game.

He was a cautionary tale even in his prime. Watch the Dark Side of the Ring episode about him. He was constantly getting fired, but was so talented he often got re-hired the next day or week.

I may have asked this once before but I don't want to look. What's the most accessible way to watch CMLL? They upload everything to youtube but its all in spanish and my spanish is limited to the basics. Is the stories worth keeping up with or is it just workrate stuff?

The stories are all basic enough that you'll pick up the gist of it if you watch in Spanish anyway. It isn't like they have a Mexican Russo booking their shit.

It was also because male fans tended to be more into Jannetty and Shawn was considered the soft pretty boy that girls loved. Turns out that Shawn was reallyyyyyyy good at exploiting that angle to make himself a monster heel and Jannetty liked substances more than being a star.

My two favourite things about the video are the two things that most people miss. The first one is that he makes a toddler about to cry face at the beginning of the promo, and the second thing is that it actually says "Recorded earlier" at the bottom like that was the best take they could get. :story:

Alright, fuck it. I am just going to share a bunch of links to deathmatches I like on here because I am bored, tired, and have a captive audience.

Marcus Crane vs SHLAK at GCW Hit ‘Em Up (they both do a line of cocaine on camera in the middle of the match)

Lil Sicko vs JD Horror in a toothpick deathmatch SVN’s The House that Love Built (both guys wound up in the hospital with toothpicks buried under their skin, fan cam is the only footage of this match that currently exists)

Masashi Takeda vs Kenji Fukimoto FREEDOMS (one of the more infamous bumps in deathmatch history as Kenji takes a slam on the legendary scissor board)

Zandig vs Nick Mondo (quite possibly the most famous deathmatch of all time, I won’t spoil the surprise if you watch it but just know two men were about 3 feet away from dying)

Zandig vs Nick Gage vs Necro Butcher CZW Tournament of Death 4 (my favorite deathmatch of all time featuring the 3 biggest names in North American deathmatch history, also Nick Gage gets set on fire)

For some reason I thought Double or Nothing was supposed to be on last night but it's actually next week.

Tickets are already sold out (14k-ish) so they should probably run Arthur Ashe (20k-ish) again instead the next time around.

It's moments like this that make you sit back and realize how remarkable the entire situation is. There is straight up a second established US pro wrestling company that is actually doing well and selling out arenas and it pretty much came out of a bunch of indie wrestlers finding the right money man.

AEW still has its issues but when you look back a decade ago you had WWE as the only legitimate promotion, TNA cheating death repeatedly with a woeful product and a bunch of regional promotions who usually lost their top guys once WWE/NJPW took notice of them.
