I get where you’re coming from but it comes off as spergy. I understand you don’t like Trump. But, people are getting tired of it lately and don’t want to hear it anymore. I think right now emotions are high which I understand but take that stuff over to autistic thunderdom not here.

So Travis was trying to be professional with Corny and Brian, who he knew to be massive shitlibs and keep his politics out of their relationship, somehow Corny gets wind that Travis has some spicy takes (a second dildo has struck the WNBA floor, Walter Cronkite was a lying sack of shit [100% true re: Tet Offensive], Sniffy, Senile Joe Biden, etc.)

Of all of Jim's fallings out with people over the decades, this one was fairly tame and damn near cordial. I was expecting Corny to motherfuck Heckel for 30+ minutes. He sounded more confused and disappointed than anything else.

It was probably cordial because, besides drawing the thumbnails who is Travis Heckel? Jim throwing fit over some random guy probably isn't worth the rise in blood pressure.

The video didn't even need to be as long as it was. It could've been a 30-60 second clip confirming Travis is gone.

"Travis quit after we ask him to tone down the tweeting. He decided he'd rather tweet and quit. We thank him for his contribution to our show over the last 8 years."

Instead we got almost 40 mins of political commentary..

At least with Trump and Wrestling there’s something of a connection - be it the Battle of the Billionaires or the consecutive Mania’s at Trump Plaza back in the early days of Mania, to say nothing of the more direct connection between Trump and the McMahon family.

As for Corny, I admit to sticking to his older stories - if nothing else it lets me dodge some of the Politics sperging, and I’ve made my opinion known on Corny’s Takes past the Millennium (ie. he’s a historian of the business, but Wrestling has kinda passed him by, for better of for worse)

Fully agree There’s right-wing people who are extremely obsessed with politics and make it half of their personality even as someone who is culturally on the right it gets to be utterly insufferable Cornette is the exact same way but with left wing talking points like I get giving a shit about issues regardless of where you are on the political spectrum but its like he forgets the main point of his podcast is related to wrestling at times, people watch wrestling to escape that shit when I do listen to a wrestling related podcast ill listen to literally anyone else while I fully agree with Cornette shitting on AEW id rather not listen to a 40 minute tangent about the return of Fascism

I don't know much about him specifically but Mexican crowds tend to pop the way they're supposed to for the freakshow guys and AAA is no stranger to multimen clusterfucks so the freaks don't have to really DO much
but yeah, he's good to go as a heel it seems, he's foreign, he's not doing technico spots

I figured it would be easy work for him going forward given how much Mexico loves their freakshows. Come in, throw people around comically, pick up your check, then leave. No bumps necessary.

Just to add to this, Vince the elder was looking to expand from the major metro arenas and out into the suburbs, so he wanted an "All American" (read: white) Jack Brisco type. Backlund (he wasn't Mr, in those days, lol) fit the bill after a hearty recommendation by Eddie Graham. As the story goes, Backlund was being seriously considered for the NWA title at the time and Vince scooping up Backlund scuttled those plans.
