Honestly it's kinda fitting in way. Without hogan Shikey would be another flash in the pan. Love them both though hopefully they're putting each other in the camel clutch up there.

For what it’s worth I did see a couple of more reasonable black guys on Twitter paying tribute to the Hulkster, most were shitty but it does goes to show at least some care about all he did for wrestling, and at the end of the day saying a mean word years ago should mean nothing
 
I don't think Verne Gagne gets enough credit for pretty much educating Hogan. Verne, by owning the AWA, was AWA heavy weight champ for decades past his prime. Then tried to shove his talentless son, Greg, down everyone's throat.

My understanding was that Verne was willing to put the title on Hogan, but expect Hogan to sell over his rights to merch, which would be insane. Verne hated Hulk's style, preferring mat wrestling style. And I don't think Verne could handle someone taking his spotlight. Vince turned Hulk into a national celebrity and within a couple of years, the AWA was ending with a raw turkey on a pole match.

For all intents and purposes, Hulk was basically just Verne Gagne, except he never owned any the companies he was in.

The one thing I think people tend to forget is his time in WCW prior to the NWO. It was a big deal when he first showed up but his shtick got old. That shit got downright painful towards the end. Hulkster had started to get go away heat with fans. For a lot of WCW fans, Hogan was always seen as a WWF wrestler. Not a proper wrasler.

Which all really help make the NWO turn so effective. Fans had an excuse to boo the shit out of him and Hulk was a tremendous heel.

I also think Hogan got too much blame for WCW and TNA. Like no one was forced to sign him to contracts that gave him so much control. It's moronic to give that to someone and then expect that same person not to use it to protect themselves.

It went beyond the point of protecting himself to screwing over the rest of the wrestlers on the card such as Starrcade 97 and the Fingerpoke of Doom
Theres a massive world of difference between things such as Austin not wanting to put Lesnar on free TV and the Fingerpoke of Doom ruining the value of the World Championship
If Hogan and Bischoff hadnt played silly beggers in TNA and lead to Dixie selling off the company and AJ Styles leaving the company leading to the current day of slowly becoming a subsidiary of the WWE by proxy

I don't care if Hulk Hogan said nigger or doesnt want his daughter fucking black men
I don't care if Hulk Hogan is a complusive lier and womanizer
I care that Hulk Hogan actively damaged the wrestling business in the long run
