Sure am glad to know the Hulkster is doing well.

Dude has a bloated ego, a serious problem of compulsive lying, had a hand in driving two major wrestling companies to the ground (one of which into legit non-existence), went toe-to-toe with Ozzy Osbourne in showing the dysfunctionalities of his family via reality TV, and just couldn't have it any other way than his own way when dealing with his own career, even when he was clearly no longer the hottest commodity around.

But dammit, I'll deeply lament when he is gone for real like I rarely do when celebrities pass away... which won't be just yet, jack! Death is a cruiserweight and he can cruiser-wait because he has not earned his spot as the number-one contender against the one and only Immortal!

For real though, I had a scare when I read those news of his hospitalization, and yes, I and millions and millions of people will feel empty inside when Hulk's time does come.
Brother should live long enough to know the hypocrisy and error of his ways so he can truly take his vitamins, not steroids, say his prayers and be a real American!

His ego is justified, He's responsible for the 2 boom periods in Wrestling. There hasn't been anything quite like them since.

According to Cultaholic, Vince is trying to buy a Bare Knuckle Boxing Promotion, kinda funny to me since he didnt wanna buy the UFC back in the day.
Thank goodness he did not purchase it. Early UFC was kinda "kitschy" in that it had legit martial artists of all kinds and they all wore their respective traditional attires - Gi, wrestling leotards, etc.. Vince would have seen it and turned it into a glorified WMAC Masters in no time, and it would have gone the way of the World Bodybuilding Federation and the original XFL.

His business acumen worked for wrestling because it is very much a character-driven entertainment method first and foremost, with the competition aspect being "just" a piece of the whole thing. This doesn't work for actual competitive non-scripted sports for obvious reasons.

i think it happened around 2009, since Shane had beef with Vince and left the company, and came back 7 years later.

I seem to recall Shane worked for UFC for a little while around that time, but don't remember if either he or Vince had any intentions to purchase it.

I also remember that those early UFC events I mentioned used to be advertised during WWF broadcasts as something of an afterthought, which is why I spoke of the possibility of it being a Titan Sports commodity.

Considering how ass modern UFC is, they could use some tips from Pro-Wrestling. The sportification of MMA makes it so boring. No one wants to see Dagestani grappler #42 vs Mohammed-Ishmale-Habib regardless of if they are "the best in the world" at scoring points on the ground and going to decision. Skill is an important aspect of MMA, but if you are going to put that shit on TV for people to watch, how entertaining it is takes precedent.

Rampage, Tito, Lidel, Couture, Wanderli, Sakuraba, etc, all had unique looks, personalities, and styles. It's not a coincidence that the golden age of MMA was the time period when the scene was filled with colorful, larger than life fighters. PRIDE FC was the greatest MMA promotion of all time, because it was created by a Pro-Wrestler who mixed MMA action with Pro-Wrestling presentation.

But hardcore MMA fans are legit the dumbest fanbase on earth who think "if you want entertainment go watch WWE" is an epic own, and are convinced that the actual problem is the UFC is too much like WWE despite how little sense that makes.
