Sabu was a crazy bastard, but he was a damned entertaining wrestler. Him and RVD were two of my favorite guys from ECW and it's a shame that none of the ECW guys ever got their due in Vince's WWE.

I just heard about Sabu and now I'm sad :(

Edit: My first ever live wrestling event was some indie show with a few older legends (Piper, Greg Valentine - guys like that), and of all the wrestlers there, my child self was completely mystified by Sabu. He had an autograph signing after the show, but my dad said, "line's too long, let's not bother." Got a signed photo and dvd years later (well, two, because the first shipment got lost in the Florida postal system and then showed up after the second shipment), back when he and Super Genie (also RIP) were raising funds for his hip replacement. Never got to meet him in person, but I was always obsessed with him after that first show.

Sabu's one of my favorite wrestlers from the original ECW. I can't forget the barbed-wire match he had against another tough S.O.B., Terry Funk. Both of them will be missed.

I'm having flashbacks of Mickey Rourke's "The Wrestler" all of a sudden.

I get where you're coming from, but I wouldn't say that "none" of them got their due. The Dudleys were crazy over in WWE, and the same could be said for RVD. Rhino and Tajiri did okay for themselves imo. Even Taz, considering that he was 5 feet tall and had a bad neck, came in with a strong debut and was eventually given a prominent role as a commentator.

And then there's the sad reality that some of the ECW guys, like Sabu (RIP), were unreliable druggies who couldn't wrestle the WWE style, and didn't really look the part. They just didn't have much value to WWE.

that's where Pagano's gonna change the game bigtime
a RELIABLE druggie who can wrestle vintage Attitude brawling and "lol tailbones are for nerds" stunts like Juff

I don’t mind Dom getting cheered, it was bound to happen eventually but it doesn’t seem organic to me. Like all the Smarks x just decided “let’s all cheer Dom now”
Dom's been getting positioned as the next face turn out of Judgement Day for quite some time now, acting as the chill, reasonable guy in the clubhouse while Finn has been bitter with Liv as his agitator.

Dom and Carlito leave together. Finn and JD on the other side. I think the surprise of the story is going to be Liv betraying Dom, she's too good at being a heel to end that.

-looks directly at the Sandman-

Say whatever you will about Paul Heyman, I’ve made plenty of jokes over the years about how I’ve never seen a Jew that bad with money, but the man knew how to make chicken shit into chicken salad. Guy knew how to book to his talents strengths - be it sending Lucha guys and Technicians out to wow the crowd, or any combination of guys high off their faces to batter each other with weapons. The original ECW was something special, and every attempt to replicate it just fails to capture that same magic.

I can't recall an ECW tribute PPV outside of WWE (WWECW was just a C-show) that was very successful.

I remember now how nearly everyone online bashed Extreme Reunion 2012 - from the technical problems, Sabu and Justin Credible being unfit to perform at the event itself, Raven burying the entire PPV and the fans by calling them "fags and morons" to the main event where Shane tries to get over while the fans are walking out of the PPV. It was at that point that ECW brand should just rest in peace.
