Edge rebranding himself as Cope is proof that we live in a simulation.
he went from being the top heel in WWE the late 2000s to shilling for Tiny Khan, I literally cant name a bigger career KWAB other than maybe Vince if you don't count full time wrestlers
I was booking for comedy, except for double J.

The Brett role has to be someone technically sound but bitter and possible concused.

Will "My wife's son" Osprey or Maxwell "Waaah I am not appreciated" Jew Freid would fit those roles.
MJF is a glorified Midcarder and Ospraey is just another generic Flippy Shitter Tiny overpays for

I've had this thought in my mind for a while, sorry to interrupt a discussion on more current matters.

During AEW's Dark/Elevation Tazcalibur podcasts, I noticed that Taz would sometimes toss lines about the non-company wrestler regarding some mistakes they make - stuff like "stay on him" when they're doing the shock after pin break at 2 or "need to deep hook the leg" if their cover is very basic. From my point of view this added a lot to these matches as you could really buy into the narrative that some of them just need more experience and they'll climb the ladder (some did - Lee Johnson, Willow Nightingale big time, etc).

Was this ever done during a main show, regarding a recent, relatively unknown to the crowd's company acquisition that started chasing titles? Be it from perspective of commentary like with the aforementioned case or with wrestlers themselves - like them being more phased by kickout than usual - as a human thing of maybe making more mistakes under pressure. Doesn't need to be an angle in itself, moreso a justification for the unfavorable result of a match.

I can't remember if any of the coaching/university gimmicks (like Alpha Academy or Chase U) have attempted something like that. Same goes for pairing rookies with pros back in 00s in WWE. I'm not suggesting this will add some depth to a match, but i think highlighting that moment of error on a competitor's part could go a long way. Something along the lines of a wrestler getting caught by a move on a match, but countering when in the same scenario during a rematch, but in a more subtle, passive way.

Honest to God, can AEW just stop shooting itself in the foot? They have at least a tiny modicum of potential momentum with Omega coming back soon and the MAX debut and yet all anybody is talking about is Cope and the fact that they decided to introduce a goddamn gay anthem by the Pointer Sisters to open their flagship show. It's the small shit that adds up and eventually buries them. Death by a thousand paper cuts.

i lost all respect and attraction to veda for that. indecisive fuck.

You should have lost all respect and attraction with her blabbering about and ruining whatever wrestling show she's commentating for.

I really am struggling to figure out the reason for choosing that as the new theme. You'd think for the same price, they could have licensed that Raw song that replaced Thorn In My Eye.

Or even fucking Every Time I Die considering they're employing one of the former guitarists of the band.

with Punk possibly winning the rumble it would be the largest middle finger to Tony imaginable if HHH had Cody and Punk main event WrestleMania, I still think Cody vs Rock and Punk vs Reigns are more likely but its fun to think about

the unfortunate reality is that AEW has infinite funding so they can fuck-up as much as they want without going under while WCW didn't have that same luxury the world is truly a cruel and unjust place

They should remake the classic DX conference skit where they rattle off all the words they won't say anymore "7 dirty words" style
IIRC Hunter said they won't be having gratuitous swearing and other hyper adult content, since they don't want to give up the kid demographic and Netflix deal happening in part because Netflix knows kids will be watching and will be a huge demo for the show.

honestly don't mind, WWE has been pursuing an all-ages type audience for awhile now, you can have your edgy moments (Rock beating down Cody last year in the lead up to WM being an example of that), its not something that I particularly have a major hate-boner for and most of the wrestling community has moved on from "PG Era Le sucking" discourse even before Hunter took over, WWE has everyone from 11 year olds to Boomers in their audience and honestly its better for the business

i can at least tolerate that.

sidenote: adam copeland trademarking "cope" has me in hysterics today

Meltzer explains the name change.
"I have no idea why. I think that because his whole career he was Edge, so he just figures that he should be Cope. Whatever, it's his call, I mean it doesn't make — it doesn't make a difference, he's Adam Copeland. The idea absolutely is to just call him Cope, yes. It's his call, I don't think it changes the world or anything. I wouldn't have done it ... you'd have to ask him why, you know what I mean? I said I wouldn't have done it, but it's not like anything where I go like 'oh, stupid idea,' it's just something."

What is the gayest wrestling move?

Love this dude's moveset. IIRC he has a sit-out tombstone piledriver variation which would be even more gay.
