BookDust was good too
That's what I was referring to (my fault for not naming specific examples.) Can anyone really name a compelling non-comedy storyline featuring Goldust prior to him and Cody feuding with The Authority? Even then, you can chalk most of the heat in that feud to Dusty being one of the few people who didn't allow Hunter and Stephanie to walk all over him in promos.I liked the Golden Truth... but to be fair, that was carried by Mr. Killings, as are most angles that involve him.
I mean, he was a comedic character for pretty much the entirety of every run he had in WWE, so no.Can anyone really name a compelling non-comedy storyline featuring Goldust...
Dustin Rhodes was never a person to lead a company. His early WCW stuff was passable, but he was also fortunate to be working with better than usual wrestlers, who knew how the business works. Don't get me wrong, as he aged, he really improved. But the reality here is, Cody put the hard yards in learning how to be more of a presence younger, and is reaping the rewards of it now. If Dustin did the acting courses, learned how to throw out body language better and understood the psychology a bit more, he would've been what Cody is today. Was Goldust ever World Champion material?
I don't think anyone is seriously considering him to be a Cody/Cena/Hart style babyface holding the belt and being the face of the company but he could have been used as a transitional championDustin Rhodes was never a person to lead a company. To be fair, calling a son of a billionaire a communist pretty much confirms that Swagger either has an IQ of about 7 or he's taken way too many chair shotshttps://youtube.com/watch?v=G1uk3mS2L_U

Cornette usually ha 80% good takes in wrestling, this is the 20% that is absolutely shit, I think Swagger had potential in WWE, they just pulled the trigger on him far too earlyhttps://youtube.com/watch?v=G1uk3mS2L_U

that's defintely retarded on Swagger's part, theres a lot of people who can't tell the difference between a commie and a retarded neoliberal, Tony for sure appears to be socially progressive outwardly, but is going to do whatever is necessary to ensure protection of his company and some of his talents, (like not axing Jericho)To be fair, calling a son of a billionaire a communist pretty much confirms that Swagger either has an IQ of about 7 or he's taken way too many chair shots
Tbf hes probably one of the only nepotism hires that honestly deserved a shot not necessarily the highest bar but he was miles ahead of a lot of other 2nd gen talents who got in because of who daddy wasDustin Rhodes was never a person to lead a company. Swagger definitely didn't have the it factor. He didn't really have the personality or charismaCornette usually ha 80% good takes in wrestling, this is the 20% that is absolutely shit, I think Swagger had potential in WWE, they just pulled the trigger on him far too early
What I DO think happened is that when AEW got off to a hot start, he felt vindicated after people pushed back and mocked him for years for gushing over Kenny, the Bucks, Okada, and really the modern Japanese style as a whole. For my money, people first began turning on Dave en masse when he started to hand out those six and seven start ratings to NJPW and NXT Black & Gold matches, and I think that still sticks in his craw. But here was a promotion that was built on that style and it was hot. From his perspective, he proved everyone wrong.
he at the very least should've had a B-tier or C-tier title run.Dustin Rhodes was never a person to lead a company.

holy shit you're right. he held it three times. NONE of these I remember eitherHis feud with Razor was over the IC strap, which he won.
I believe he held it at least one other time.
Which is why The Powers That Be told him him that "Dustin" is boring.Dustin was a complete charisma vacuum before he became Golddust.
