Not all Small Guys suck as you said, Bret and Eddie were credible champions because of how they were presented, I kind of view guys like Sami and KO in the same regard but what pisses me off the most is the insistence that wrestling should be all flippy manlet shit with no real story, smaller guys I think to a certain extent unfairly get a bad rap because that portion of their fanbases
A lot of that is from how they looked too. Eddie Guerrero and Bret were both jacked and looked the part of a professional wrestler; Same can be said for Danielson or Benoit but not about someone like Jack Perry or Darby Allen. It would be like having Ben Shapiro as a linebacker in the NFL. It can be difficult getting invested in a heel champion if they look like someone you can choke out (and probably can lol).
Sami has had fantastic matches and is talented, but at the same time, my suspension of disbelief can only go so far. Watching him beat Gunter was like watching Spike Dudley get a clean win on Brock Lesnar.
At this point you’d need to start from scratch for a wrestling promotion. Not just in terms of the company itself but the workers involved. The small guy indie style has been in vogue since 2001 at least and hit mainstream in the 2010s. The only company that tried to go back to an old school style is NWA to universal laughter and disgust
I mean, surely there are amateur wrestlers out there who look the part and would be willing to work for some cash. Maybe people have been looking in the wrong places.

Did WWE really send a spoiler email about a surprise guest at Summerslam?

It’s the same weekend and location as Summerslam, unless he’s doing the 1 man show and going straight back home on Summerslam weekend- we’re going to hear the gong

iirc didn't Foley and some other guys do their one-man-shows adjacent to shows and under the WWE's good graces but still not show up at the ppv?

The Rock's daughter is still an atrocious authority figure even if I can't articulate why.
The Authority Figure had a good run for a gimmick but it's been beaten into the fucking ground
WWE has a good idea of that bald guy who sorta exists but doesn't really matter, we need more Jack Tunneys and less Eric Bischoffs, figuratively speaking

I don't particularly dislike Zayn, but yeah if I'm not paying attention while I'm doing dishes or whatever more than once I've thought "huh? I thought Danielson was in- oh yeah Sami Zayn"
Sami's likability is proportional to whether or not he's hooded or clean shaven/light goatee or screaming how he's going to kill anyone daring to play bluegrass in his presence since he's a real G and the blackest white man in the northwest....

Sami has never tried to be as versitile character-wise like Bryan and him uglifying himself for the conspiracy gimmick hasn't helped him out.

He should have shaved the beard by now to refresh his look post Bloodline at the very least.

XYZpdq Jr. You're right about Dario Cueto, he destroys my argument.
Dario is such an oddity in a good way. The dude is a legit actor who probably never had anything to do with wrestling until he did Lucha Underground, but honestly he was one of the reasons I liked the show.

You could honestly remove (most) of the hokey supernatural stuff and just keep it to his vignettes trying to run an illegal fight club in between his appearances to work the crowd, and I would honestly get a Netflix subscription to watch that shit.
Can't the Hulkster do life insurance or reverse mortgage commercials like all the other over the hill stars?
Doesn't work for him, brother!
