So the Wabadoo man John Cena came back on Monday Night RAW and was immediately challenged to a match by AJ Styles. Then the Club came down and apparently Vince decided to take some advice from Russo, because we were all swerved, because Styles turned on Cena and he and the Club stood victorious over the broken body of a man who cannot be seen.

I'm conflicted about this tbh. On the one hand, I didn't think Cena would go heel for this (Though that would have been quite the swerve.) but I did hope that it would be face vs face instead of face vs heel. Especially because it looks like a set up for the traditional 'How can Cena possibly overcome the odds' match and Styles could lose 4 PPVs in a row, which would be incredibly lame.

However, Cena's promo at the start gives me some hope. Maybe, just maybe, he's going to go into the 'Put young guys over' phase of his career. If Vince can bear to let him do it, then there's hope. Then again, Vince's mind works in mysterious and inexplicable ways.

I actually hope AJ puts Cena over from now until Survivor Series, and that Finn Balor comes to take care of John Cena because AJ Styles couldn't do it himself.

He's two months older than Styles

It’s hard to believe that something this bizarre could’ve been a thing in 1999, but it’s legit. Reddit user grabbinsumpillz uploaded these images with the following text:

“So, I got these from my uncle when I was a kid. Apparently he knew someone that worked around the wrestling industry and gave me these pieces of concept art for my birthday. I tried to look up some info about the series, but found nothing. I’m assuming it’s something that went unaired and they scrapped. Which kinda sucks, because the concepts look pretty badass!”

I had never heard of this project, but after digging around, I came across the briefest of mentions of a WCW cartoon through Variety. A Reddit comment even led me toward finding an archived Geocities page for “Goblin Myk”, a dated blog for former Amberwood Productions employee Michael D. Stevens. Stevens lists “WCW” as a project he worked on during his time spent at Amberwood from August 1998 to January 2000.

The Death of WCW book brought up the cartoon at one point, though it was only to mention that it was scrapped and then made a joke about it being an animated show, not the average episode of Thunder.

Snuka was declared too incompetent to face trial because he has dementia.

Thanks a lot, Roddy

From the online chatter I've heard there's decent arguments that the claim is bullshit, like, he did a shoot video a year or so ago or something.

Which is all the more hilarious if he was able to just substitute "unga bunga me island man" with "unga bunga me senile man" and get away with it a second time.

Was TNA trying to be like Lucha Underground with that segment?
To be fair TNA was doing background music and stuff in some backstage stuff a couple of years before LU.

And if somebody has to take the first goofy, floundering steps in trying to integrate LU stuff into more traditional shows it might as well be TNA so it doesn't hurt anything important when it blows up.

In other news the Lucha Libre World Cup was pretty cool. Dario Cueto was there with Team Lucha Underground.
