I’ve called this game Kenny’s Pet Project a few times, and if you were to tell me that he got it in his contract that there’d be an AEW Video Game I wouldn’t be surprised.

That said, I’m half expecting it to be a dumpster fire, and I’d love to be a fly on the wall in that meeting if/when TK finally gets pissed about practically shitting away, what was it, $10M?

I think the two ECW games only ever existed because wrestling was hot, Acclaim needed a license to stick into their existing engine and WWF and WCW were already spoken for. They're both just reskins and roster updates of WWF Attitude.

I honestly don't think the AEW game Kenny is working on is ever going to get released.

There were two ECW games (Hardcore Revolution and Anarchy Rulez) that were just janky reskins of WWF Attitude and War Zone when Acclaim lost the WWF license to THQ but still wanted to make wrestling games. They were working on a third when ECW got bought by WWF which ended up becoming Legends of Wrestling.

AEW have had their trios belts made and are just waiting for the Owen Hart Cup to be finished/Kenny to come back to start a tournament for them.

Candace La Rae's WWE contract ran out and they didn't resign her.

I still think a throwback to the likes of Saturday Night Slam Masters or a wrestling counterpart to Punch-Out! would rock a lot of socks off.

Don't get me wrong, a NJPW/Stardom game (done well) would get my shekels pretty quick, and I don't regret getting 2k22, but an actual, larger than life game where you don't need to license a bunch of people's likenesses or theme songs, where this or that guy won't jump ship or get released and instantly make the roster dated, among other insignificant things that can bog down development of a "real life" wrestling game would be great.

Idk what's worse for Tony at this point: releasing a horrible game, or pissing away 10 million dollars for some shit tech demos.

At least with releasing the game he can recoup some money, because there are AEW fans who will literally buy anything, but that stigma of having one of the worst wrestling games will eat at him.

They aren't flailing. Bobby Fish is probably at the peak of his popularity as far as breaking out and Adam Cole has been a breathe of fresh air, especially since he now has people to play off of that make his poor man's Shawn Michaels gimmick work. Not to mention that they've proven so popular that you have the Young Bucks attaching themselves onto their asses to parasitically stay relevant. Only Kyle O'Reilly has suffered since changing companies sadly, since he's not been able to properly capitalize on the jump and has become third wheel to the others.

As for the AEW video game; I think part of the issue is that BOTH Omega and Khan are so obsessed with the old No Mercy game and wanting their AEW game to be it but with AEW guys, that it's blinded them hardcore to what a money pit that the game is, was, and has become. As someone else said, most people would be happy with a Retroamania type 2D video game for AEW. But BOTH Tony and Omega want No Mercy reborn for modern gaming systems and that is creating the problem for them.

Speaking of AEW and Tag Teams, it looks like Hook-Hausen might actually become a thing. Not sure how to feel about that.

Bro, I'm sorry but nobody has ever seen Adam Cole and truly believed he puts butts in seats. I don't know how the fuck ROH meme'd him into the main event-- wait no, I'm lying, I do know... he was the third Young Buck, who was only picked up after Steen got poached by WWE. Adam Cole is always the back-up plan, and ends up a package deal to more interesting acts. He's the definitive meme wrestler and the fact Triple H fell for it was the first crack in the foundation of NXT.

About the only guy who's maybe just as boring as him in wrestling is fucking >Matt Taven, but at least he can squeeze out more of a personality once his theme song stops playing.

IIRC the trios belt was supposed to exist as a containment belt to keep the Bucks and Omega out of the World Title/Tag Title scene, hence why Tony has been delaying it being introduced until Omega comes back.

Bucks have about a 35% chance to cut a good promo so you have a 65% chance of doing the right thing and skipping.

Honestly the AEW game release (if it happens) looks like it's going to be such a cathartic shitstorm. People have said for years "If you give Yukes a few years off instead of forcing them to do yearly releases they'll produce a fantastic wrestling game" and now they've had a few years off it looks just as dogshit as ever.

And don't give me the whole "They have to rebuild the entire engine from the ground up" a shitload of the animations are straight up ripped from old Smackdown games. If anything it's WORSE than the animations of before because collision detection looks about as fucked as the PS2 games.

Tony might be able to butter up a bunch of nobody game journalists or streamers into giving positive coverage, but if a BIG one decides to give it a try and mercilessly shit on it then it's all over, and years of waiting to pay $80 for a mediocre game that's unpolished, with an outdated roster sounds like it has all the makings of a disaster. On the flip side at least it LOOKS like a game and a shitty wrestling game is still a billion times better than the Balon Wonderworld or Mighty Number 9s of the gaming industry.

They should release an AEW DLC for fire pro wrestling world, that could buy them a bit of time.

On a side note I wish the creators of that game made a sequel with the wrestlers in 3d, exact same engine, exact same mechanics but with low poly 3d models. The CAW would be great with custom textures

Yuka and Riho had a very fun match on Rampage. The joshis really are a completely different level to the rest of the AEW womens roster.

I genuinely can't recall Riho having a bad match at any point since she joined the company. She can't speak a word of English yet she has the fans in the palm of her hand the entire time.

anyway rampage was almost all killer no filler. any of its matches would have been a better dynamite main event.

women's tag was a slobberknocker... jamie hayter's hindquarters always threaten to steal the show but beyond her high-cut ring gear she is imo a truly awesome wrestler. she looks so legit in there. not only is she hard-hitting and aggressive but she's super QUICK given what a hoss she is.... and when she bumped out of the ring at the end she looked like a crash-test dummy going through the windshield at 60 mph. phenomenal. all four women did great work.

Yuka has put on a few ounces of muscle which does a lot to help distinguish her from fellow joshi pixie Riho -- like @trent said, a match that captivated the crowd with no promos, no angles, just exciting wrestling.

Jay Lethal vs. roidy-looking young lion #253252 was a solid, engaging bout despite the lead-weight faction they've saddled Lethal with.

Yeah I think fire pro world was a vanity project for one of the original devs from the old games. the steam workshop for downloading custom parts is such a clusterfuck it's so confusing.

I’ve bitched at length regarding how JR just needs to fucking retire, because when he’s bad he tanks the whole night. I’m not gonna tread old ground, I’m just gonna hope TK quietly lets him go - that or in one of his coke binges pulls a Vince regarding JR. Least that’d be funny to watch the fallout.

Honestly, I feel they should’ve done two things to unfuck the last 30ish minutes of Dynamite - scrap the Varsity Blonds/House of Black bit (this whole Julia Hart thing has long passed the point where I feel most people would’ve given half a shit), and swap theWomen’s Match with Fenix v Dante. Gives both matches a bit more time, and I don’t know about you but I’d rather watch two people who casually tell physics to fuck itself as the Main rather than a heatless women’s match that probably only happened because Purrazzo and her big ass didn’t want to sign.

Silver Lining - Darby vs Jeff should be a car crash, considering between the two of them I don’t think there’s an ounce of self preservation. Even if JR shits the bed and they cut his mic, it should be a fun watch
