He also has that slight problem in that he totally sucks ass. Like, Mongo grades of ass.Roman's problem was that he wasn't booked like enough of a badass tbh. Look at the Royal Rumble, where he got zero cool spots and had to be saved by someone interfering in a match that was following the rules just fine. I don't know if that was because he was coming off surgery and was way out of shape but he kept looking pretty underwhelming and then doing a spear and winning.
Let him be an "Ambassador" then. I am cool with him as US champ. I think it is actually pretty cool and save for the KO fiasco, it has been great. Maybe his "merch" sales are down because his character is old and stale? What I don't get is AE was basically an ensemble cast. There was Austin, Rock, Taker, DX, all these guys who I was wearing shit of to school. No lie, I could wear a different character or stable to school every day for a week and everyone knew who they were. All my friends and I talked wrestling and this was when I was a Sophmore-Senior. I did consulting for a school district and had to interview teachers. When I walked the halls and the times I was in the lunch room I didn't see any John Cena gear. None at all. I saw D-Bry and CM Punk, and I actually saw ROH shirts. Maybe it was dumb luck, but even at the mall, anywhere, I haven't seen anyone wearing John Cena "merch". I get the feeling that John Cena is someone that people think kids like, but anyone over 10 is going to just shrug off.i can put up with a bland cena just because of how much make-a-wish stuff he does. seriously thats way more important than pleasing the 'cena sucks' chanting smarks.
That Make-a-Wish stuff is just marketing anyways. The WWE is all about CSR right now and I don't see why. They were most profitable in the Attitude Era. You don't need all the elements of AE, but AE elements certainly didn't run people off. The Bret Hart's (don't get me wrong, the man is talented, but no charisma) and John Cena from 2010-Present are not who people want to see as the face of the company and it doesn't matter how much "goodwill" the WWE builds up, it will always be a product that depends on charismatic dirtbags.
Wrestling in general is less popular and profitable than it was 10 years ago. The AE stuff would not work in today's society. If they started coherent, well written stories then interest would peak again, and you don't need to be TV-Mature to do that despite what some marks thinksOkay, well then the sacrifice is profit. They operated at a loss last year I believe. Topline performance has been sinking since 2008, it picked up last year but thats because of the Network, but the costs of that weren't balanced out and other arms of business fell.
I think I just got called a mark...Wrestling in general is less popular and profitable than it was 10 years ago. The AE stuff would not work in today's society. There's also Vicera being a bestiality necrophile. I'm sure Linda's opponents would have a field day with that.First time I hear about this Katie Vick thing.
The feud between Rey and Eddie regarding Rey's son was quite trashy too.
Was not my intention, but there are plenty of spergs on various wrestling forums who are convinced that if WWE went full on garbage ECW AE they would draw 6,8 ratingsI think I just got called a mark...![]()
Stardust asking Nevil to "be his hero" is honestly the most homo thing I've seen come out of WWE in a while.
Oh I know. Gosh those two and their glitter.Considering that Stardust is Goldust's brother...
