I like Tyrus because he’s a good person.
He's a pretty shitty person and an awful wrestler. It's a shame, too, because he's big so if he got his fat ass in shape he could've been a solid wrestler but instead he runs like Jack Scalfani

Billy Corgan was probably on some cocaine when he decided to make Tyrus the world champ

HERE COMES THE MILLYYYYYYY

In case anyone was wondering where Wardlows been, Matt Taven confirmed on a podcast he's out with a knee injury and is looking at treatment options.

So it looks like Grand Slam is going to do a monster rating based on the activity in this thread.

Good thing there were no college football games, nfl games, nba playoffs, i love lucy reruns, the grammys, the emmys, the rasberries, a new gta iv trailer, a local blackout, a pantera concert going on in chile, or a high school debate club competition going on to steal viewers away. Moving on up! Watch out nEw YoRk, 83 weeks part 2 coming soon!

Watched the Netflix documentary. A few thoughts:

1. The Montreal Screwjob was bullshit and the biggest shame is that we never got the footage of Bret knocking out Vince. I get it that Vince was paranoid that Bret would show up on WCW and throw the belt in the trash that would have been a giant fuck you to WWF but if Vince was this great professional he would have just gone straight to Bret and said “You’re not leaving with my fucking belt tonight.” They could have just had Bret lose the belt to Taker or Triple H you didn’t need Shawn Michaels winning that night who Bret was beefing with. On that note I will never understand why Owen didn’t go to WCW with Bret where he would have made way more money (and would likely still be alive), I think it could have only been a brother inferiority complex that he didn’t want to ride on Bret’s coattails. But Owen should have known damn well that Vince was going to put him through a humiliation ritual to punish Bret.

2. Like most millennials I’ve had gripes that WWE moved to the PG-era and never looked back. Seeing a full history of the company showed to me how the cherished Attitude Era was an anomaly for the company. I mean holy shit the Golden Age was GOOFY as hell.

3. Wrestling looked so much better in standard definition, in the modern day you just easily see how the punches and kicks don’t land. I’d love to record a modern day WWE performance on VHS and play it back and see if the 480p resolution helps mask that we’re watching ballet for 90% of the time.

4. I think the Netflix documentary was as fair as possible. I did not leave it with a worse impression of Vince McMahon he’s always been a scummy guy and the documentary even concedes that you gotta be somewhat shitty to be the boss in such an industry. I think everyone feels bad for Shane and Stephanie. That they both seem to be pretty decent people proves you don’t have to be defined by having a maniac father.

5. How the hell is Rey Mysterio still wrestling? I was a snot nosed kid when I was watching him. Gotta hand it to the little guy.

Owen stayed in the WWE because of two reasons. One was he knew damn well WCW would drop the ball with Brett and wanted to finish his contract with Vince then get the fuck out of pro wrestling all together and finally pursue his dream job of a fireman and live a normal life in obscurity. The other was Vince promised Owen he would make things right with Owen and push him as a top face and have Hunter and Shawn job themselves out to Owen to give fans catharsis over the screw job.

But Shawn and Hunter fucking refused to put Owens over and once Shawn fucked off after WM '98, Hunter made damn sure Vince knew he wasn't going to job to Owen, resulting in Owen being reduced to Rock's hypeman in NOD 2.0 and the Jeff Jarrett's sidekick.

That’s a damn shame, RIP Owen.

In my smark fan fiction Owen & Bret would have feuded with Kevin Nash & Scott Hall in the WCW and been the ones to take out the NWO. Owen & Brett as pure babyfaces would have been such a good storyline.

As for Goldberg I think he was essentially the proto-Brock Lesnar. Should have just stayed as a force of destruction. Call Goldberg a shittty wrestler all you want but I’m still impressed by how he jackhammered Giant/Big Show.

Contracts are starting to come up in AEW so they've re-signed Saraya and Dustin Rhodes so faar but Pentagon has no new deal in place with 2 months left and WWE made him a good offer so he is probably going there.

In a rather shitty move, AEW are adding nearly a year of extra injury time to Fenixs deal presumably to stop him and Penta landing in WWE as a tag team.

It's a product of it's time. This is an era of pop culture without a lot of shades of grey with squeaky clean good guys, and irredeemable bad guys. It was common for the absolute christlike moral standing of the heroes to be played up for laughs to some extent. Just look at movies like Roadhouse; even though it is unquestionably made for an adult audience, Patrick Swayze's character is unambiguously good without and shades of grey and is never even inclined to give in to any sort of temptation and he is juxtaposed against the evil yuppie who does nothing but give into temptation. People at the time wanted uncomplicated morality plays. The idea of having a dark, gritty, flawed protagonist is more a product of the 90s.

Does he still have the boat from that T.V show?

Is it though? The bros clearly made plans with the wwe while under contract and noped of a ppv they would have gotten the trio titles at.

Meanwhile, AJ Style's contract is said be expiring either late this year or early next year. While he did say years ago he wanted to retire in WWE, he may not resign and finish his career back in TNA or AEW. WWE also looking to rehire Malakai Black since his contract is expiring soon.

Yeah, AJ was all in on finishing up in WWE before AEW was a thing. He's got to be looking hard at the prospect of earning a fortune for 10-12 matches a year against some of the best wrestlers in the world. He's at the point where his legacy matters to him so matches like Omega, Danielson, Ospreay, Swerve, etc would actually mean something to him.

Holy shit The Outrunners are Big Dimes. Sign them immediately WWE.
“Big Delts & Gold Belts.”
Fucking pure dimes.

Pentagon can definitely be his own man in WWE for a while before Rey Fenix shows up.
