Yeah, why force yourself to sit through an entire episode of Dynamite waiting to see one five minute segment when you know that shit is just going to be clipped and plastered all around the internet by both sides instantly trying to frame the narrative and claim it as a W before the other side can? WOR will have an episode up tomorrow where Magoo tries to run damage control for Tony. No matter what happens Cucknette is probably going to do an emergency episode claiming Punk is a legit tough guy and could have easily /HEEM/ed the entire locker room if he wasn't such a nice guy. Every grifter who failed out of the wrestling industry or latched on like a tongue-eating louse is going to put out some video desperately trying to capitalize on it. AEW itself might see a modest bump in the ratings, but to be honest every normal person who isn't in it for clicks of subs is probably too burnt out after all the wrestling this weekend to bother to tune in when they know they will get to see someone react to the choice bits with spicier takes than you would get just watching the actual video with just the Bucks usual dumb reddit humor.
 
A bump in Dynamites rating due to them showing the CCTV footage is actually a bad thing.

They can only do it once and it is proof that Punk was the one pulling in the extra 200-300k viewers that they've bled over the past few months.

With the WBD exclusivity deal coming to an end very soon and no new deal in sight, I am kinda wondering if this is a last ditch effort by Tony because WBD gave him an ultimatum to hit a certain number or they would not renew AEW. It's been over a year since they hit a million viewers, months since they hit 900K, and weeks since they hit 800K. The ratings have been on a slow downward trajectory for a good long while now, and WWE getting hotter and hotter has to make WBD wonder if there is a future in AEW, or if they are going to get stuck in a contract with a product that can't sell ad time. The recent beating of the drums to try any rally the troops along with the big name signings seemed to slightly improve the live attendance for AEW shows, but even that is starting to drop once again.

I have to wonder what will happen to AEW once Tony feels slighted and betrayed by his audience for not appreciating what he is doing. When his father purchased the Jaguars Tony seemed extremely enthusiast for it and would constantly post impassioned walls of text in places like reddit. However as the team continued to shit bricks the fans turns on Tony as he had made himself such a visible part of management promising big changes only to never deliver, Tony himself seemed to lose interest. With the Purchase of Fulham, once again, Tony was assigned a visible place in management and was very vocal and enthusiastic about the promotion, constantly promising big wins and movement to the upper divisions. Yet, once again, Tony failed to deliver on his big promises as Fulham bounced around between divisions and never managed to maintain upward trajectory despite all the big name signings Tony made. Will AEW suffer the same fate and become a toy that Tony ignores once it is shown that his management is incapable of delivering on what he promised, only to return and claim credit on the rare occasion the people he leaves in charge actually manage to come through despite Tony's neglect and apathy?

SGW is really fun. The top heel in the promotion is a /pw/ shitposter from Great Britian working as a construction foreman in Uganda with the ring name Lord White.


The most recent storyline with Lord White is that he was killed during a match to decide the rights to Ugandan wrestling on Good Friday, then rose from the dead on Easter Sunday to enact his vengeance upon the promotion.

Also GLEAT is usually pretty great, it is mostly made up of ex-Dragongate guys and a few old timers. T-Hawk and El Lindaman are my boys. You can check out their shows on youtube. They upload them for free, and usually live if you are ever up in the middle of the night for some reason.

Personal Gueses - either Phil has a dedicated Tard Wrangler in the WWE who'll give him a proverbial smack on the nose if he does Phil Things, or he's smart enough to realize that ignoring this will rile up Cokehead Khan more than acknowledging it would.

Personally I think its Option 2, but Option 1 would be funnier so it gets top billing

I don't know how anyone can Stan for AEW at this point. You can go back in this thread and see me defending AEW a couple years ago and looking forward to Dynamite every week. I find it mind boggling when people won't admit this shit is falling apart and that has been exacerbated by WWE getting their shit together. I want another strong promotion too, but bruh, AEW is more disorganized than late era WCW at this point. The PPVs are are usually still decent, but there is little long term booking or continuity, and when there is long-term booking, it's retarded shit like the Devil storyline. It seems like Khan wasn't prepared for the conflicts for tribalism that seem to be running rampant behind the scenes, and he doesn't have the proper people in place to deal with it, and now no one's actually devoting their time to careful booking and storytelling. Early on when they only had two hours of TV, the roster was small, and they were all friends from the indies so they all got along, it seemed like storylines were planned carefully with a beginning, middle and end. That all went out the window the first time Punk got hurt in 2022.

I'm perfectly aware it's a train wreck, however this isn't the place anymore to have that sort of discussion. Couple of years ago sure, but lately not so much.

You don't think the wrestling thread is a place to talk about how a wrestling promotion has clearly hit the skids?

I actually think AEW could pull out of its tailspin if they cut anyone who stirs up shit from the roster, jettisoned Rampage and ROH and stuck to a lighter PPV schedule.

I said it before hundreds of pages back, but the biggest enemy to Tony Khan and AEW in general isn't the WWE, but the AEW fans who will excuse everything Tony does. That kind of blind tribalism gassed Tony up so hard that he believed he could do no wrong. The diehard tribalist motherfuckers spend all day on twitter telling Tony everything he is doing is perfect and explaining away any complaints people may have about the product as "edrone falseflag." It's not just that they are gassing people up, they are actively attacking fans who don't fall in line and praise every single thing Tony does, calling them "pigs," "egroids," "ejeets," "edrones," and whatever tiresome catchphrase people like Rovert cook up in their twitter group DM. People that might have been mildly critical of the product, myself included, were driven away because of the contempt and disgust with what the fanbase was becoming.
