Maybe tangentially or they made some gay retarded clickbait video about it, but nah, not really. Just ignore all of the work by 2A organizations like the FPC and GOA and pass all the credit onto some punchable face parasocial e-celeb

If it takes YouTube grifters to move the needle on a political issue, our country is fucked.
I can't be too hard on you dalits, you've only got one real reference point for how cool firearms are:

If you are so retarded and low-agency that you can't type another URL into a search bar or move your shit off of YouTube and let faggots take away your livelihood on a whim, that's your own fault.

There are dozens of alternative options. You can even self-host your content and monetize it that way by putting certain videos behind a paywall. That's what Forgotten Weapons was doing with Floatplane and props to Ian for taking the initiative.

There is Rumble, there is Odysee. The platforms exist and people refuse to use them

Half the people who watch Guntubers are /noguns/ anyway, sloptent for underage b&s and manchildren

If India the other platforms is so amazing and advanced are so viable then why aren't you jeets moving back using them?

Man, I feel like conversations with them are just interchangable no matter the topic.

I have no idea what that means. I'm not an Internet person and my income doesn't come from the Internet. I do watch stuff on Odysee and if I have to go to YouTube, or link a YouTube video, I use an Invidious redirect.

Same thing can be done for mobile with Revanced https://revanced.app/

Dunno if this has been posted yet but Duelist1954 has passed from cancer. He choose to not do more chemo but to enjoy whatever time he had left.

I enjoyed his BP gun videos and history videos and I will give him solid props for dying on his own terms.

Yeah, because I don't want to use a separate platform just to view my gun content, when YouTube exists and I can watch the stuff among my other interests. And if YouTube cuts the guncontent, I am not going to actively look for it apart from maybe Forgotten Weapons. I can be bothered with watching Ian's stuff from wherever. The rest? I wouldn't bother. And this is not me saying I don't watch other gun channels, I follow like 10 guntubers. But Forgotten Weapons is basically the only one I would bother to use a specific alternate platform with.

Hell, some of these guntutbers tried it with History of weapons an war. They had an app, and a specific website. Forgotten Weapons, 9hole reviews, Bloke on the Range, C&rsenal, a few others. It bit the dust in a year, because no-one cared. If it's not on YouTube, nobody cares for it. Ian uploaded videos to different platforms, nobody watched them. Nobody cares unless it's on YouTube.

We did not participate in HoW&W.
I refused any platform that did not have a path towards wide discovery and I don't believe a walled garden would work.

Also the financial plan for that platform strongly disfavored us as we produce very few episodes and they are very long, but we would have been one of the bigger shows to onboard with a very active and loyal audience.

Just as an aside, if YT truly cracks down on guntube it will change the market substantially, however, in the long term it may finally damage the platform.

Right now alt platforms can't compete because of the Wal-Mart principle: one stop shop. The moment you can't find a core product, a product you need, you will be forced to invest time in finding an alternative provider.

So far YT has not gone far enough to actually, significantly, drive gun content off entirely. Once major channels simply disappear instead of contorting themselves, then a small exodus will begin. Trouble is, the guntubers are not currently positioned well to survive such changes. They are largely fed on ad dollars, be it YT payouts or sponsorships in-video. Some would be able to adapt and innovate. Others would crumble. Either way there would be a "hard times" change.

That said, gun media is unkillable. I believe I heard gun magazines have been far more resilient than other print media and I believe it. There is demand and it is an industry familiar with being hated and tampered with.

I misspoke, apologies.

I think you've provided plenty of info here why any platform outside of YouTube is not going to work.

I hope you will continue and survive, your stuff is geat.

Guns and American Handgunner just killed their physical magazines recently, American Riflemen switched to quarterly printing, that’s just off the top of my head. They may or may not be more resilient than some other print media, but the future of print media in general is beyond bleak.
I would venture subscription magazines, online or print, are living off of older subscribers that are going to keep diminishing.
I personally don’t believe there is much a demand for 85% of online gun content, frankly, just because most of it is the same ground covered over and over and over.
The true valuable information is in the niche forums, and even those are at least 50% garbage.
Reviews are good, if you can trust it’s not bought and paid for.
Hickok45 seems like a nice guy, but how many more videos of him shooting can he make, what’s new there? Ian seems like a nice guy, how many more obscure guns can he find that people want to watch?
YouTube fans can probably be broken into true diehards, casual, and algorithm. The diehards will follow the channel off platform wherever it goes - the harsh reality of why off platform hasn’t worked in the past is that the channels do not have the die hard fan count they think/wish they had.
This is obviously just my opinion, but I don’t know how else it could be interpreted at the end of the day.
I think back to network tv - moving a new show around the time slots was a death knell, couldn’t build an audience. But move Seinfeld to a new time slot after, say, season 2 or 3, its fans would find it.
I want as much good gun media as possible out there, more people enjoying shooting can only help strengthen support for the 2nd amendment, so I hope I’m wrong and there’s some sort of leverage over YouTube and the shit they do to you guys

Physical gun, hunting, and outdoors magazines main issue is their editorial, management and writers kept finding various new and old ways of self-destructing.

Even the "older" subscribers have been ditching them since the late 90s. Assuming the magazines are still around and haven't imploded.
