It has come to my attention that individuals appreciate communication.
TL;DR:
I am writing code for XenForo again.
I'm working on QoL improvements
I am messing with stickers again.
The billpay system is working.
If something changes and you don't like it chill the fuck out.
If you've been around for a while you've likely noticed I have done more work on the frontend of the Kiwi Farms in the last few months than I have done in multiple years combined.
As a reminder, during #DropKiwiFarms, trannies harassed XenForo into terminating our license with them. I see this continuously while in the ACP:
This means that:
1. I cannot apply any normal updates to XenForo (security updates are posted publicly by their team and I apply them manually),
2. I cannot contribute anything upstream to XenForo via its Marketplace (originally I wanted to build add-ons to sell to other site owners), and
3. I cannot buy anything from the XenForo Marketplace either. Everything I want, I have to make.
As XenForo is a proprietary service you need a license for, this means that we're at a dead end with them. I can't do anything with my code not for the Kiwi Farms, and I can't do anything with XenForo. It means either I let the tech stagnate or I burn time into something that has no long term benefit for us.
That's why I have been very reluctant to do anything for years since. It feels like any time I sink into XenForo is time I could be putting towards an open-source rewrite I literally dream about. I have dreams about how I would do certain things to alleviate headaches. I know how I want to do basically everything, it's written into my skull.
However, that time has never come. The time to sit down and write my rewrite has never come and it is in part because a lull has never happened. I will never get a break. Just recently with the gay pedophile spammer, I have had to divert all my attention to writing an NCMEC reporting feature which is still not ready. It's a very complicated system, it destroys data, and it files reports to law enforcement. It's a very serious and not fun project that is taking up all the time I'd have dedicated to other things.
So my realization has been, instead of mothballing the entire site and delaying everything people want in hopes that one day the time not spent on it will one day allow me to do my rewrite, I might as well just stop pretending I will ever have time to do anything else and sacrifice it to the shrine of retarded proprietary software written by gay Englishmen who post on BlueSky.
I will still do the rewrite but I figure my odds of actually getting time to do it will go up if I have stable income from the site and people are pleased with how it's running.
