So I figured that it's about time that Gawker Media- home to several infamous websites including Jezebel and Kotaku- finally deserves its own thread.

In general, Gawker itself and its writers are known to be massively hypocritical, employing lots of double standards. Some writers have become infamous for being lolcows in their own right. Patricia Hernandez of Kotaku springs to mind; I'm sure people have lots of other examples, because seriously, Gawker is practically a lolcow factory.

Zero to maximum hypocrisy in literally 30 minutes.

Gawker's sites are also notorious echo chambers, in large part due to the Kinja messaging system. The Kinja system is so atrocious that even a sizable portion of Gawker's writers and audience absolutely hate it and want to get rid of it. Basically, to even get your comment on an article accepted, you need to have it approved by the author of the article/a Kinja member who themselves has already been accepted by the community. In other words, if you post something controversial or that goes against the grain, chances are that it will never see the light of day.

Anyway, here are a few lulzy and/or cringe-inducing articles/comments to get you started:

Didn't a Jezebel writer claim she was "too smart" to get raped?
So, does that mean she actually takes precautions such as walking with an escort, packing a gun, and relying on any other method more advanced than a whistle? Wouldn't she be "victim-blaming" by doing this?

My favorite part of Gawker is the hateboner they have for buzzfeed. Buzzfeed is 99% stupid quizzes and 1% stupid gawker-esque articles, but Gawker still publishes lots of articles detailing their hate.

Gawker is just a product of our times.

It fills the same role that shitty tabloids do.

Better to ask what drives people to need such a site in thier lives; Gawker is just a symptom of the true diease.

Besides assumes loneliness, some form of a personality complex and/or boredom all in some ratio? Probably the cheap thrill of not having to think.

Yes. Yes she would.
Let's not forget Gawker employs Ben Kuchera, most punchable face in hack journalism ever. And the ever racist Leigh Alexander.

Holy shit, those are some really, really remarkable double standards. I've never really known much about Gawker, outside of Jezebel.

Of course, I'm an actual feminist so I don't read Jezebel, which is a site for SJWs who think women are innately superior to men and misandry doesn't exist.

*incidentally, my spellcheck apparently doesn't know misandry exists either

Gawker is made up of trollbait articles and insider baseball pieces about the lives of New York nobodies who all seem to operate under the delusion that because they're involved in journalism their lives are somehow news. Some times it's side-splittingly hilarious. Very rarely, it breaks legitimate news. It's gossipy, obnoxious, and hypocritical, but I don't see how Gawker's dodgy journalism or dodgy politics make it a lolcow. If anything, its behaviour is more consistent with that of a troll.

I don't think a website really qualifies as a lolcow and the images that OP shared (most likely made by a butthurt MRA) exposing the "hypocrisy" of the site were, for the most part, written by different authors who have different value systems. That's like saying a movie review website is hypocritical because one reviewer liked a certain movie and another didn't. Sure, Gawker media is sleazy clickbait gossip rag, but I don't think that makes it a herd of lolcows. Also, Drew Magery is fucking hilarious.

Websites are lolcow farms. Examples: Wizardchan, Tumblr, Return of Kings, Love Shy, et al.

It is important to know the context of what this woman was saying. To her, rape means being treated like a human being by somebody she deems a eunuch. Since I'd actually fuck her brutally she would not consider what I did rape but a blessing.

stay in your own thread you faggot pussy

High time a thread got made for these twats. Honestly, none of these guys and their sites (Kotaku, Jezebel, etc.) cannot be trusted with their hypocrisy, double standards and selfishness.

Don't you have some meth to snort or something?

Why did he have to come here :cryblood:

Also, on the subject of Gawker being a lolcow or not, I was thinking more along the lines of lulzy authors who write for it (Patricia Hernandez, Ben Kuchera, Leigh Alexander, etc) rather than Gawker itself as a corporation. Sorry, I should have made that more clear!
