The only reason they are mad is because Peter Thiel doesn't have the "right" politics. If they had outed a liberal tranny, they wouldn't be satisfied with gawker dying, they'd want everyone involved dead too.

The only reason i'll miss gawker is because there was a story about a woman trying to eat endless breadsticks, which will sadly be lost.(:_(

How has Jason Schreier managed to avoid a thread here for so long? He's a bumbling, brainwashed chucklefuck of a blogger even by the standards of Gawker.

Kotaku reviewer. Fun fact, he threw a fit about Dragon's Crown's buxom character, claimed it appeals to lolicon (I don't think he understands what that word means) and indirectly insulted the artist.
Yeah but Atlus/ Vanillaware had the last laugh, this is a picture he tweeted of his press pass that year (also Dragon's Crown was so successful it allowed Vanillaware to practically double in size).

Go archive that shit, man! It's up to each and every one of us to make sure every stupid thing ever posted is preserved for history!

Just a reminder that literally all of this could have been avoided if Gawker had simply taken down the video when Hulk Hogan asked them to.

They keep trying to frame it as an issue of MUH FREE SPEECH, or about how it was all about sticking it to "The Man," but in reality nobody ever gave a shit about some wrestler's sex tape. Nor is a sex tape something people would rally under to support freedom of information, unlike, say, leaked government emails. Gawker picked a fucking stupid hill to die on.

Personally I think it's pretty fitting for a website as arrogant and stupid as Gawker to be ultimately taken down in the stupidest, and most avoidable way possible.

Also they helped people forget about that whole "Hulk Hogan being a possible racist" thing and somehow managed to turn him in a sympathetic character, y'know just to add more salt in the wound.

It went from "he racist" to "he said some stupid , but haven't we all?"

Today is Gawker.com's final day online. Its editorial staff has elected not to go into the great beyond with grace, but with the kicking and screaming of a petulant child. These "articles", posted today, is what Gawker sheds its mortal coil with.

Goodbye, Gawker, and good riddance.

Someone I follow on Tumblr had some really good things to say about the whole "Gawker is being taken down by vindictive right-wing billionaires" narrative:

If I can't even publish sex tapes starring four year olds, how can you even call this a free country?
