I didn't like it. I knew what it was doing the entire time and felt like I spent the whole game waiting for it to "start" or have some kind of twist or anything. Just fell flat.

Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see the Fear franchise mentioned. While the sequels and offshoots were of debatable quality, the first game was a blast, plus it injected a fair amount of creepiness into the mix. The Matrix-y slowdown effect during gunfights were a blast.
John Carpenter was even involved in the last entry. I haven't played it myself, only the first two and the DLCs and had a bunch of fun.
