What bothers me the most about this virtue-signaling is that it happened right after a global curfew for sanitary reasons
Small businesses workers now fear for their safety after being hailed as 'heroes' at the end of the coronavirus crisis not even a month ago. All this rioting over a guy with a long criminal record who died from an officier's malpractice.
And now this BLM shit is spreading to my country.

Nobody is a 'traitor'. It costs you 0 dollars to throw that out there, people who are opposed to the riots basically know you're just appeasing the unwashed masses. Not to mention the rioters themselves are just burning down and looting their own neighborhoods. All you have to do is send out one tweet and you're clear.

Its the epitome of laziness. The rioters can be gunned down in the street, you don't have to spend a cent, you just tweet out 'Black Lives Matter!' and that's it. Calling them a 'traitor' ala OAG is fucking lol.

Ignore the inflammatory use of "traitor" in that post. I suspect Billy has wallpapered his room with thesaurus entries and just throws darts with his eyes shut to determine word choice in his articles. Nevertheless, these companies should be held accountable for aligning themselves with terrorists.

Yeah but personally, I think it's just extremely eye rolling or in poor taste.

I'm not going to boycott because already I don't purchase most of the brands or series. I don't give a fuck about anything activision related unless it's Spyro or Crash since they killed Blizzard.

Likewise I'm not going to get anything Naughty Dog shits out but I'm probably going to get Ghosts and Ys memories of Celceta remaster for the PS4.

Unfortunately, the communitarianism that is present in the USA has started to infect the rest of the world too. Virtue-signalling is lazy activism, it's free and easy to do and it gives the author a positive image. As for the companies, they're just treating people as objects, nothing new. They don't care about white or black people, their gender or sexuality, all they want is to convince that demographic to buy their next product. Some of these companies can go too far (see pic).

The press is mostly SJW too in my country. I used to go to a tech website and they've switched their optics after the founder sold the site to another company. Now all they do is write to appeal to the SEO and Facebook by talking about muh climate (they just translate the latest Motherboard or Buzzfeed article, they have no knowledge in science), feminism, inclusivity, the latest feminist/LGBT show on Netflix, electric cars and bikes and the WuFlu (they've published hundreds of articles about it). Sometimes they do talk about tech but it's only to praise the latest Apple product. They never talk about censorship in big tech. When we had the Presidential election, they virtue-signalled and published an op-ed saying that they were fighting against the far-right (the editorial board is composed of white skinny males and 2 women feminists, all from Paris so their view of the country or even the world is americanized). Most of the old readers/forum members have left a long time ago, there are only 10 people max who still leave comments.

Not only that, but the companies don't seem to realize the Black People (TM) might want these products and services also.

Black People (TM) have had a pretty bad week and I'd be suprised if there wasn't a handful of them that were looking forward to Call of Duty - Season 4 to unwind with only to have this shit thrown right back in their faces.

Of course Nintendo of Japan would never do it but I was hoping at the very least that Kyoto was keeping the American branch on a tighter leash. I guess there wasn't much avoiding it if Playstation and Xbox both did it.

It sounds like Nintendo is going to be donating which means, yes Japan is backing this. NOA can't do something like that without corporate approval.

This should bite them in the arse the next time they post anything while something bad is in the headlines. People are already saying that they never stopped everything for the Hong Kong protests. Any time there is some sort of protest, even if they don't agree with it, this can be brought up.
 
So, if these companies are "supporting" a bunch of violet looters and anarchists, they won't have any problems with people just pirating their shit, right?

I'd be far more impressed if a larger company told everyone whinging about this to fuck directly off into the sun. That'd be some real counterculture.

Traitor wouldn't apply to these groups but then you have to realize: this is One Angry Gamer and he thinks that if you think what happened to Floyd was horrible, you must be some SJW traitor even though the lot of us wouldn't lean towards being SJWs while also finding Floyd's death to be horrifying. That said, diving into some of them can be fun to see what sort of spergs they attracted. Yongyea's tweet managed to get Quarterpounder to say "stunning and brave" while Civvie11's tweet got some people saying how contemporary boomer shooter reviewer is problematic because he apparently makes constant /pol/ jokes.

For real, do they still support sweatshops filled with children in China? Yes. Do they support Hong Kong? No. But hey, they said said black lives matter, so let's suck Nintendo's dick(and, not to sound stupid, but this is coming from a Nintendo fan).

Also, on the subject of game journalism, Game Informer is amazing, but they are print only(at least mostly). They are why I wanted to be journalist(I'm not actually a journalist , but I do something sorta related), and I still read them today. Their reviews are so entertaining that I will read a review of a game that I have no interest in and that is for a console I don't own, and still leave entertained.

he also posted that the lack of raise at Giant Bomb was because he didn't ask for one until he got the Kotaku job offer and they were willing to match it to keep him
