Their community is currently in an uproar over their GOTY coverage being completely gutted this year. The group videos are plagued with audio problems, and the 5 long podcasts where they debated various top 10 lists (some funny, some "serious") were replaced with 15 hours of them talking about every fucking game that came out in 2019 chronologically with some half-baked top 10 lists at the end.

I think they'll be able to stick around a bit longer. 5 years for sure, but 10? I dunno. They're in the unique position of having older staff with a lot of "industry" experience, which ensures really interesting/big names during live shows like E3, but that's about it. Even the normal content their known for is getting to be quite bland.

As much as I love video games, I'm not going to sit around and listen to soyboys debate which shitty games they loved this year. I sure as shit ain't going to make myself suffer through 15 HOURS of that shit.

Also, they helped the cancer that is Zoe Quinn metastasize by letting her do a Top Ten Games of Year List since 2013 full of her garbage LOLSORANDOM humor. So they can eat a 747 full of herpes-riddled dicks.

This is like the exact opposite of that. Here we have a guy so emasculated he can't watch a woman in a bikini.

He can. He's an utter shitlord in fact. Like most of these SJWs, his virtue is entirely fake and he's more of a degenerate than the people he criticizes for whatever woke bullshit he criticizes them for.

Kuntaku is full of hypocrites.

I remember that fat manchild slob Fahey calling people who liked the big titted ADULT witch in Dragon's Dogma "pedos", even though he has a tattoo on his arm of anime character that looks like a 12 year old girl in a bikini that barely covers her tits.

Edit: the game was Dragon's CROWN, and it was Schrier, not Fahey. Mea culpa.

I don't think I ever see a man act like this over softcore porn this is the type of behavior I expect out of some kid from a lifetime movie if this is the standard professionalism in games journalism it may as well be dead outside of press releases.

Kilpeck is a sexual predator who has herpes. He is scum, pathetic faggot scum that tries to white knight to get laid.

This is really funny to watch after going through One Angry Gamer's thread where Billy Usher can't go 2 seconds without feverishly ogling over virtual boobs and gets angry when the feminists take his anime tits away.

This is like the exact opposite of that. Here we have a guy so emasculated he can't watch a woman in a bikini.

OAG has a mental disorder and has grown to have the opposite of Trump Derangment Syndrome where he sees SJWs and feminists everywhere. It got so bad, he blew up about a trans flag in this one game, and boxed it in, complaining it had the most color in the shot. However, the origonal room was so large and the flags so small, you had to actively look to pick them out and blow them up in a fashion that he did.

All gaming journalists are massive faggots. There is no such thing as a good gaming journalist. They're all utter trash. The only good ones have died or retired. I mean, journalist is a trash profession and games journalist is like the trash of the trash. We're talking about the worst in the worst profession. There's nothing good here, only fucking awful.

This is why I laughed at GG and think they're a bunch of massive fucktards. Gaming Journalism is not something that should be saved or elevated. You can't elevate shit. It will always be shit. Gaming Journalism should be destroyed and rendered utterly irrelevant. Lobotomize them until they're basically just press releases, because their opinions are so fucking ignorant, so fucking idiotic, I don't even want to see them anymore.

Projection and actually a pedophile. You don't call anybody else a pedophile and have that tattoo unless you are one.

unless there were two people that did that (which wouldn't surprise me, that kind of retardation knows no bounds), it was actually jason schreier.
which funny enough lead to him be BTFO so hard it's pretty much 6 million + 1

A post from SA when SA was good. Takes me back. But yeah, Jason Shcrier is a massive faggot, will always be a massive faggot and will never cease being one. Also sadly no critic in media stands up for the art anymore. What a short little time six years is and how much worse things have gotten.

You're right. I mixed it up with the time that Fahey complained about a game "sexualilizing middle schoolers", and people calling out his hypocrisy on Twitter.

Then Fahey is all like, "BUT, BUT....SHE'S REALLY A 1400 YEAR OLD DEMON!", yet ignoring that she looks like a 12 year old decked out to attend the Folsom Street Fair (Do not Google this at work).

I'm sure all the parents at the PTA meeting were satisfied with that explanation.

Ryan Davis died, and then Gamergate happened.

But really Giant Bomb's never been great at playing games, just watch their Quick Looks, they're pretty incompetent at times even in the old days. So I'm not completely surprised they'd have trouble with plots or would do stupid shit like ranking faces if I'm being honest.

Any gaming enthusiast can run circles around a "Professional Games Journalist" because a gamer of a particular series knows exactly whats happening at the company they are fans for, what the community wants, what content/bugfixes have been delivered, what upcoming stuff there is, what the gameplay issues are.

The only thing the Journos have over the Gamers is the dev access that Gamers don't have. Occasionally where you actually find out whats going on at the company behind the PR spin. Like the "Behind the making of ME3" that exposed Bioware as scrambling around writing ideas on toiletpaper.

Like this review for The Division 2, from a fan of the Division 1, just blows every other gaming review I've ever seen out of the water. If you are fan of the previous game, it addresses exactly the points you are looking for.

Then if you are looking for industry news, gaming enthusiasts do more research than the journalists, because doing this sort of research and writing about it would probably get you shunned for "betraying publishers" who basically pay your wages. The professional gaming journalism is more about networking and trying to land yourself a cushy job somewhere than actually improving the industry.

Skillup isn't much better. He apologized for criticizing Destiny 2 on Twitter, and likened the series to being a ship that takes 5 miles to turn around.

Though he did shit on Reset Era, so he's not all bad.

Yeah now that he's growing and monetizing things he has to protect his position, and keep on good terms, like all the big name talking heads, so they can't really "burn the bridges". That's why gaming forums or random unknown youtubers are good sources for info (until they sell out). I mean even Jason Schrier the biggest shill in the industry blew the lid on how the Anthem guys had no fucking idea what they were doing. But 90% of the time the "established" guys are mostly paying the bills. I suppose they have to throw a tidbit of "real stuff" out there in order to seem legitimate.

I made it to 6 minutes ("muh bulletsponge enemies") and were really hoping he was being ironic, then I skipped through a bit and finally stopped at 12 minutes where he calls the tier system "smartly designed" after complaining everything opens up only after reaching lvl30.

the tier system was a relic from division 1 where massive thought stacking more levels on top to have a perpetual geargrind like WoW was the way to go. when people dropped the game because it was a fucking mess and everything else was fucking retarded, the tier system included, they revamped it. point is there's zero reason to even have a tier system in 2 because all it does is dragging the geargrind out before you reach tier 5 and see how little shit there actually is to do (and which you already did plenty of time getting to tier 5).
and lets not talk about the loot system as a whole which is straight up boring trying to ape destiny with builds centered around 1 exotic weapon and armor while also dropping everything that made division 1 fun with it's roles. fucking ghost: recon breakpoint is better designed with that in mind than "kill shit + x" like the division 2.

"there's also no villain" is also fucking stupid because through missions, echos and phone calls it's hinted that the big bad(s) are the ones running black tusk. ffs you don't even need all that to simple wonder "who runs black tusk? why are they here?". this is even more embarrassing considering he was jerking it to tom clancy for 5 solid minutes in the beginning.

this might've been a bit of an offtopic sperg, but sorry, I've read better opinion on reddits in a few paragraphs than that 52 minute video (which is only part 1).

EDIT: I skipped to the end to see if he really was ironic and I just missed it, but if he is he does a really bad job at it. also fun fact: I had the leisure of giving anthem a spin - it's currently an actual fun game with fun mechanics that makes you wanna play more. which, considering both games released around the same time and fucking bioware actually managed to turn the game around somewhat says even more about the sorry state of division 2.

That was actually on Neogaf. The disease was already spreading by the time Dragon's Crown came out.

I think people miss the point these days of MMO/Always Online games. That they want some endless Tier/Levelling/power bar/whatever system for people to run forever so they keep playing so they can still be exposed to new cosmetics to buy. It doesn't really matter how its organized really. Levels, Tiers, Straight item level, Power score. THey just have to have an endless treadmill. Saying theres too much grind in a game basically designed to be a grind is a bit obvious.

If you want a game where you are godlike and then just muck around killing entire cities of enemies after finishing the game, you usually go play a single player RPG. But most companies don't find that as profitable as these new games.

A gaming journalist a massive faggot and hypocrite, subhuman waste that would be shunned by any civilized society? Shocking turn of events.

1. grinding for the sake of grinding is pointless, not everybody is korean. there's a reason division 2 bombed hard (and div1 recovered after they got rid of that shit)
2. why grind if everything around the grind is boring and repetitive?

If you want a game where you are godlike and then just muck around killing entire cities of enemies after finishing the game, you usually go play a single player RPG. But most companies don't find that as profitable as these new games.

yet that's exactly what division 2 and all these new games are.

yet that's exactly what division 2 and all these new games are.

But they aren't in a singleplayer game you get the most powerful, hit max level, beat the end boss and the game is over. In these new types of games theres always an upgrade, and theres heroic mode, super heroic mode, super saiyan mode, to try out the gear upgrades on. Maybe the games aren't popular, but popular or liked isn't the priority, it's profit.

Dan and vinny are the best parts of giant bomb. Dan getting hired was a small breath of fresh air from all that patrick austin faggotry.

The GB premium trial getting extended to 30 days probably means the premium subs are dying. I'd agree with the 5 year estimate. I doubt GB has any good content left in the tank.

In these new types of games theres always an upgrade, and theres heroic mode, super heroic mode, super saiyan mode, to try out the gear upgrades on.
which is exactly the same with a higher number. mechanically nothing changes because devs are lazy and the games have the depth of a puddle to begin with.

Maybe the games aren't popular, but popular or liked isn't the priority, it's profit.
last post regarding that topic to not derail the thread completely, but there is no profit. div2 bombed, breakthrough did even worse, and let's not talk about the player reception. games that don't get bought or played don't generate season pass or mtx sales. there's a reason ubisoft moved all their announced projects to 2020.

that's the shit you'd expect a journalist to look into and report on, objectively. but since we can't have that in current year you can take your pick between outright shills and dumb fanbois (which sometimes are one and the same).

This would be the same Patrick Klepek.

Find it hard to believe , who knew how much being so influenced by your peers of the same profession and a large amount of soylent products can change a person.

Try aging and starting hitting midlife in a blue state, you either go full boner culture to rebel against it or you realize your sex drive may destroy your career and try to suppress it at all cost.
