Jason Shrieker, "games journalist" is writing a book about the last few years of Blizzard drama. Supposedly he was aware of years of assault allegations, but instead decided to not report them so he could save the stories for this book.

How? And Why?
Avellones accusers retracted but Schreier refuses to remove the Bloomburg article about him. He was also questioned about this in the reddit link above and is still silent.

As part of that settlement, Barrows and Bristol now say Avellone “never sexually abused either of us.” Their statement goes on:

We have no knowledge that he has ever sexually abused any women. We have no knowledge that Mr. Avellone has ever misused corporate funds. Anything we have previously said or written about Mr. Avellone to the contrary was not our intent. We wanted to support women in the industry. In so doing, our words have been misinterpreted to suggest specific allegations of misconduct that were neither expressed nor intended. We are passionate about the safety, security and agency of women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ persons, and every other community that has seen persecution in the video game industry. We believe Mr. Avellone shares a desire to protect and uplift those communities. We believe that he deserves a full return to the industry and support him in those endeavors.

On Monday March 27, Barrows emailed Kotaku and other press outlets a copy of the joint statement, requesting to “retract my previous comments concerning Christopher Avellone.”

How did Schreier even get popular anyways? What was the article he wrote that got him talked about in the industry?

IIRC he kisses the ass of every disgruntled disgruntled dev around and ends up getting the occasional juicy gossip. One that stands out in my mind was how bad the development of Anthem was,

anyone who played anthem at launch or even watched bioware from a distance could tell you that.

but yeah, the guy making a living being the "industry insider" totally didn't know about blizzard, of course...

Gawker scum is scum, even if you slap a Bloomberg logo on it. Jason knowing everything about what went on at Blizzard makes it even more scummy since he’s PROFITING off of the sexual assault and harassment of employees. I don’t care if he’s donating funds to a charity, either, he sat on this.

Fuck this dude.

He damned Chris Avellone, designer of Fallout New Vegas, to never working in the industry again. Fuck Schreier
He also bullied Rocksteady for being too white and now look what happened to them.

They retracted as part of a court dettlement. I think the hit pieces were bullshit but why should anyone believe compelled speach like that. Its even less credible than the original claims.

It seems that most of the gaming journalists that wrote about Palworld are treating it as just a flavor of the month game because it’s not as cool as the upcoming Suicide Squad game, or something along those lines.

On one hand, it’s funny but on the other hand, I can understand why more people want to play independent games like this since these journalists are just acting as if they‘re too good (or too cool) to enjoy Palworld.

Schreier used to post pro-Israel anti-Palestine stuff back on the old GameFAQs offshoot and I'm sure his views would definitely clash with the modern left.
I don't remember specifics of what he said but people always used to give him shit for wanting to bomb Palestinian kids or something to that effect.
I really wish Llamaguy hadn't nuked the entire history of Luelinks so I could go back and find all the ridiculously racist and sexist things Jason used to post on the forum. He was quite the troll 15 years ago. He also manually went through his entire posting history and deleted fucking everything once he made his SJW turn. I'm talking manually deleting thousands and thousands of posts.

I don't know if it was Jason specifically, but I remember hearing the origins of Kotaku (or maybe Gawker, I forgot which) being that journos would report the news, then at the pub bar would share the real story (ie. gossip). Publishing that gossip turned Kotaku from a milquetoast Japanese game news blog to being a general purpose gaming shit rag.

I assume that once Jason had a bit of clout, he became a go-to guy for leaks. Patrick Klepeck's career was basically that. Patrick got hired at GiantBomb, but his big career defining story was one that was handed to him. The Respawn EA lawsuit.

One of Jason's big stories was reporting on the Destiny cut content scandal. But that felt less like Jason hitting the streets and getting the scoop, and more like damage control from devs who were getting blowback from the bad state of Destiny at release.

How do you misconstrue something that badly is what I want to know?

Never messaged him directly or @'d him. This mustve just happened as I was able to see his tweets a few days ago. He was trying to do damage control on reddit but on Xitter there were a lot of threads talking about how much he knew about the Blizzard assaults.

cause he's retarded. remember he's the same guy who think anyone who likes the big-tiddy witch from dragon's crown is a pedo because she has a "childlike face" (not making this up).
someone really should check his harddrive...
That’s fucking wild; I wonder what he’ll say about touhou.
