A post about the game Immortality on /r/giantbomb results in people goofing on Jess/Voidburger's cartoonish hate for the game that ultimately resulted in her barring the title from GOTY discussions. Jess finally shows up to defend herself and put the issue to bed:

tl;dr: "I don't really hate the guy. I don't even know him! I've just been extremely pissed about him since he fucked up Silent Hill in 2008! That's all! I'm not obsessed! YOU'RE obsessed with ME!"

It's about ethics in being a completely autistic spergy mad guy.

Amidst layoffs at VICE, Waypoint is now dead after six years. The website, podcast, and presumably their crazy forum too.

That particularly means Patrick Klepek and Rob Zacny who are out. Austin Walker already left a couple of years ago and doesn't even really do games journalism anymore.

From Patrick:
I'm not sure where to begin, except to say, with equal parts fury and sadness, that Waypoint is over. The team, myself included, have been terminated by VICE, and our final day running the website, the podcasts, and streams, will come to an end on June 2nd.

I have never been more proud to have been associated with a website, or a group of people, than I have since @austin_walker called me up so many years ago, and asked if I'd start this project, what we would eventually call Waypoint, with him. It's my proudest achievement.

Waypoint should have ended a long time ago. We've always been an extremely weird website—our podcast sign off is "fuck captilaism, go home," after all—but we survived six long years. That's a goddamn eternity in media. We tried to hold on as long as we could.

Waypoint+ was a godsend, and to all the fans of Waypoint that showed up on day one, know that your contributions, in spirit and money, were a huge reason we weren't laid off sooner. You, alongside my talented colleagues now and over the years, made waking up every day a joy.

Waypoint has another month of gas left in the tank. We'll be taking it easy, as everyone needs to figure out what their individual futures are, but count on the fact that we'll be having some fun on the way out.

As for me personally, I do not know. I've been writing and reporting about video games for 20 years now. I've never lost my job while I've had a family. I've never been laid off while I'm helping to provide for two kids. It's scary as hell, and I don't have a job waiting for me.

I'd like to keep writing and reporting, and if you think your publication has a spot for me, reach out. If you think my experience, insight might make sense at your video game company, my eyes are open. I've done the writing thing for a while. Maybe it's time for something new.

I've always wanted to work with developers, and maybe there's a role for me that bridges the work I've done for the past two decades with something new? I genuinely don't know.

I'm rambling now, which is probably a sign I should go pick up my kids and step outside. Thank you to everyone who has supported Waypoint over these past six years, and thanks to everyone whose kind words I will try to read later. It means the world.

Oh, sorry. One last thing. I can't believe this happened the same day the Armored Core trailer dropped. That's just mean.

Patrick Klepek can eat shit and die, in whatever order he likes.

RIP in piss Gaypoint.

Here's their thread whining about it:

>"You were the best audience we could have asked for."
No, you really could have asked for more. I'd be willing to bet you even did. But it was the audience you deserved.

Looks like Capitalism wins this round.

It's also shocking that Waypoint is closing, it's just a podcast/twitch channel (same as Giantbomb) that should cost next to $0 to run - it's amazing they couldn't make it profitable.

Could not have happened to a nicer group of more deserving people.

Time is money, and the people looking at the bottom line have figured out how much of both it's wasted.
