What I Want From Fallout 5

Now that Microsoft has acquired Bethesda, it's worth thinking about what we'd like to see in a hypothetical Fallout 5.

But the series has shown plenty of all the dirty shit the United States did before the Great War.

Fallout 4 alone mentioned internment camps for Chinese-Americans, food riots, marshal law, and had several military checkpoints scattered throughout Boston. The Automatron DLC also demonstrates how Robobrains were made, they were once prisoners (some murderers, some insane, and some that did only minor crimes) that had their brains harvested while alive to become the organic CPUs of combat robots (funnily enough, this was information provided by a developer interview during the Interplay era, so kudos for Bethesda canonizing that).

Even Fallout 76, for its many flaws, demonstrated how badly the mining community got fucked over by corporate fatcats wanting to save some cash, and had a West-Tek lab that poisoned a towns water supply with FEV (the army quarantined the town and kept the residents prisoner while they slowly became Super Mutants).

What more could Fallout 5 need beyond retconning the US as being as "racist" and "sexist" as it supposedly is now?

Pretty sure America was protecting the Great Lakes because IT'S IN THEIR FUCKING COUNTRY. The only other nation that had any other rights to it was Canada, and they lost. So there.

If anything it was China's fault for invading Anchorage.

Come to think of it, while we've seen plenty of dirty laundry made by the US, we haven't seen much Chinese laundry.

Should there ever be a spinoff set in China, it'll be interesting to see what the CCP has done to their people.

Aside from what they've already done in reality, anyway.

Unfortunately, that would garner too much controversy for Zenimax to handle if they tackled China in a bad light. It'll hurt the feelings of the Chinese people and investors if they went ahead and did that. Why do you think there aren't any Chinese antagonists in a COD game?

True, and Fallout is so steeped in Americana that the odds of a spinoff taking place outside the US are very slim.

The only thing I can think of is that if you punch the screen your hand won't go through the other side of the monitor like modern flat screens.

Or they're emulating the same old console games and want some trendy "authentic" set up, despite playing with an xbox 360 controller on a non-console.
