As for SGDQ, most of these entries are either boring takes on games I know or games I've never heard of run by literal who's? Where's Bonesaw and Caleb to fix this. They couldn't even call in SpikeVegeta to salvage (yeah right) the commentary for runs. I'm gonna almost exclusively watch day 1 and then catch KH2FM at the end.

In all seriousness i blame twitter transvestites and youtube "documentary" channels glamorizing the speedrun genre instead of addressing it head on as a bunch of autists who can't let a computer game go. "oooh so dramatic is the quest for perfection and being frame perfect *que epic tense music* but suddenly a challenger appears *ooo woow its just like rocky III* this boxing match of who will be remembered for their first sub 12 minute run on "some random contemporary shovelware game made for profit by corporations in the moment 35 years ago"

At least MineCon is just a bunch of kids, these grown ass men take it way too far
 
First they lowered their ability to concentrate with vidya, and used vidya as an excuse not to develop relationships. Then they reprogrammed their brains with porn, causing them to develop neural pathways for being fucked up. Now they cope, speed and dilate. Lastly they can never be women, and will ultimately do the 41% no sex run.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed this. I blame Karl Jobst as in one of his videos, it might be about the Mario 64 WR during a live event, he said that he hopes speedrunning will get more mainstream attention and get covered bigger events. No one with a life wants to watch a depressed womxn play a game 1000s of times just to shave off a few milliseconds.
With the oh-so charismatic figures in the community, I can so totally see that happening. He tried glorifying speedrunning in other videos too but what he said in particular eludes me.

I can't remember who covered it but one YTer did a video about one speedrunner in particular (don't remember his name) and tried to use him as a means to make speedrunners look cooler. The speedrunner videoed himself skateboarding, smiling in streams and laughing so the YTer can say that not all speedrunners sit around, playing games all day. Yeah, I'm not buying it!

I only watch recaps of speedruns for the technical explanations of the tricks used or exposing cheaters cos I don't care about the 41%ers doing the runs.

I can respect speedrunning when the runner acknowledges "yeah this is autistic and stupid, but I have fun doing it.", meanwhile these new speedtrooners are trying to present themselves as hip and cool, while also telling the bigots to eat the pronouns and never criticize.

It's just really stupid and comes off retarded (moreso than normal).

nah the runners will definitely keep gathering offline since the organizers need to ensure nobody will cheat during the event.

If it wasn't for the fact they choose fairly decent charities, I doubt anyone would tune in. They also have those auction prizes I think where if you donate enough you get a reward.
