Found this gem from 2013. Apparently some whore knitting is more important than vidya

This shit is only fun for the drama and cringe it produces. Speaking of which anything good yet?
I don't think there will be this year short of some accidental audio leak.

I haven't seen a single run yet that wasn't one person sitting by themselves.

Now that it's just online and not in person, there aren't many opportunities for the usual cringe to happen.
You know speedrunning is kind of like some kind of monkey's paw version of that wish we all had when we were kids about there being a way to play video games as a job in future. I mean they should at least try to get into an esport if they want to sit around and play the same game all day for 8+ hours.

Last Autism Done Quick run that was enjoyable was Bonesaw's Jak and Daxter run from 2016. Naturally the runner got banned. It was funny when organizers started apologizing to Air Canada on Twitter for Bonesaw jokes about their service. Air Canada didn't give a fuck.

There was a similar run a few years later, by some guy named Rixer i think. He did jak 3 and was just as entertaining. Surprisingly, he didn't get banned.

This is a raffle prize. Absolutely abysmal.

Congrats, you've triggered my jew autism. Mind you I have no experience knitting, but I do have experience in finding how much something costs.

~5' of yarn takes between 150-200 grams of yarn. To maximize generosity, we'll calculate the scarf as 6' to include the flourish of the Vaporeon head, and use the upper maximum for grams.

200grams / 5ft = 40grams/ft
40grams/ft * 6ft = 240grams

They specify that they used a variety, but it looks like Fingering and Bulky are the main suspects used. I'd estimate a ratio of 5:1 of Fingering:Bulky used.

500 yards of Fingering yarn is 100 grams, and costs ~$15.00 (I averaged between several sites)
100 yards of Bulky Yarn is 100 grams, and costs ~$12.00 (Averaged)

5:1 = 200:40
$12 * 2 = $24
$9.50 * 1 = $9.5
$33.50 Total in materials

So, that's $266.50 in labor costs. Now, from everything I've found online, a project like a scarf shouldn't take more than 20 hours if you're okay at the hobby, but it's hard to get an estimated.

That said, I can find way more complex and well design scarves on Etsy for $120.

The only justification I can find for the price being that high is a) they think their time is worth a lot of money, b) they suck and spent way to much time on this, c) a bit of both.

Personally, I think it's c.

In my opinion that is still the best run in GDQ history, shame it happened during GDQ's wokeification and got Bonesaw blacklisted.

Now that its all online this year means a lack of cringe, the main selling point after the owners using it to skim massive amounts of fucking cash off the top.
