It's just a shame as without Niche I wouldnt have the audience I have now, they gave me a platform when few others would, but there's problems there, and I think it'll be mismanaged into the ground in the coming year or two. I hope I'm wrong though.

As people continue carrying on about how there is a specter haunting gaming journalism - Gamergate - which has been stirred up even moreso than usual lately by the chattering class and clickbait-erati., we cannot lose sight of the fact that the "press" lost and indeed take heart from it.

Gamergate was less a case of the media losing, as the media completely cracking up about something incredibly trivial, plus also losing. Gamergate revealed was how full the media was of nerd jerks and people for whom being called "glorified bloggers" would be too kind who had nothing to contribute but to obsess over Internet feuds.

The amazing thing is when they continually mention it to this day in some way that they apparently think that it is as important to an audience of normies who by and large have never heard of it than it was to them. Years later, they autistically chant that mantra at anything that triggers them.

And they wonder why people are abandoning the fake news in droves.

How did they lose? Kotaku still exists. Polygon still exists.
People like Ben Kuchera, Nathan Grayson, Patricia Hernandez, etc. still work in the industry.

History is written by the victors. Everything that normies use as a source like mainstream media outlets and Wikipedia is purely anti-GG. This will be all that remains in a few decades when all the pro-GG sites who don't have any corporate backing die off.

I am researching Nathan Beam, pka /u/morpen on Reddit, who is the programmer behind the illegal controversial browser extention Masstagger that SJWs on Reddit use to blacklist subs that refuse to go along with the SJW cult and to tag everyone they don't like as a "far right Natsee" to drive them off the site. Going through /u/morpen's history on Reddit I discovered that he's an admitted former GamerGater turned born again SJW. I found these two posts in /r/KotakuInAction where Nathan Beam admitted being a former GamerGater but nothing showing any significant involvement in GamerGate, at least on Reddit itself:

Very possible this guy made that up entirely. Back in the autistic Atheist/Evolution vs Christians/Creationist days, the "Former Atheist"s who had zero real connection to what the Atheist side was even on about were legion.

It's really questionable that one could go from the side that didn't want to talk about Zoe Quinn at all to the side that was convinced that shady behavior is okay because Detractors just want to rag on Zoe Quinn.

To me it's just cathartic that the more close this decade is to closing the general masses would respond more and more as such with "what the fuck is a gamergate and why are we discussing this?".
