What even was GamerGate?
GamerGate was a bunch of autists sitting around spending money on videogames until some cynical cash-grabbers figured out they could get quick paydays by poking the hive with a stick, then telling the world that they were endangered by the awful nerds. The trick was, that recipe for success involves burning a bridge forever with the autism hive, and the autism hive is where all the money is. That's why independent nobodies could show up with a Patreon and laugh all the way to the bank, but actual companies with a business relationship with the hive wound up suffering immensely if they tried the same thing. What even was GamerGate?

Billy Basement sitting around spending 90% of his paycheck on video games doesn't matter one bit to the Zoe Quinns of the world, but it turns out he's statistically important to actual video game companies when he decides he's pissed off and won't buy their stuff anymore. That's why GamerGate ended the careers of several people who unwisely didn't take all that nerd spending power into account before opening their mouths.
To this day it astonishes me how people could be that dim. They also somehow failed to realize that “Billy Basement” in fact moved out of his mothers Basement back in ‘96 when he finished graduate school, and is now hauling in 6 or 7 figures a year while fondly remembering his basement dwelling days by spending thousands that he doesn’t have to, on nostalgia porn like video games, comic books, gamer gear and action figures. He was sharing his love of games and comics and all things nerdy with his daughters. And spending heavily on that as well. But after the penniless couch surfing industry insiders all called him a racist sexist misogynist virtual rapist enough times, he said Fuck it and decided to just buy his daughters a pony instead. But not to worry nerd related industries, i’m Sure there are plenty of new customers to make up for the loss of all the Billionaire Billy Basements that you just sent away. Newer better customers! More Woke customers! With... virtually no income... who e beg for sandwiches and openly pirate your products because they are entitled to them... you know, customers just like yourselves! And remember at the end of the day the respect of your peers... your couch surfing, sandwich begging, alcoholic Twitter raging peers, is really all you need. (Ps please donate to our gofundme we’re being evicted... again!)
A limp dick cuck writes a sob story of how a woman abused him. A woman is in gamedev industry. Imageboards learn of this, realize she got a suspicious amount of press for a nobody, start shit, whiteknight coochie beggars start a lockdown to save fair m'lady, autistic paranoiacs switch to siege mentality and stay in it for two to three years. As a consequence of following irrelevant and minor events, Donald Trump got elected as president of United States and Earth's orbit has been permamentely altered to eventually fly straight into the sun. What even was GamerGate?

I used to watch this guy back when he was on Channel Awesome. He used to have or use a deeper voice and was less of a whiny SJW - what happened to him? Did he chug a bunch of soy?https://youtube.com/watch?v=ePXqArfdARc
Pretty low of the guy using black bars on Gamergaters faces like they do for paedos and terrorists

On one hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the devs were to be the kind that still sperg about GamerGate in the year 2018 (that Information Terrorism one comes to mind). On the other hand, this guy being a furry and quoting Jay Naylor makes it look even more exceptional.a furry gamergater saw an anti-Brexit game on steam and decided to pester one of the devs:

>write me an essay about gamergate or I'll wait until your game is on sale to buy it.
one of the devs replied. unfortunately for him, his answer was not satisfactory:

not even a heavily discounted sale?
according to his furaffinity profile (archive): "#GamerGate is the most important thing to happen to gamer culture (perhaps even nerd culture at large) since the NES."
some Deep Thoughts in his "scraps" to go with this amazing commission by Jay Naylor:

The only opinion that probably would matter is the kind that laughs at the entirety of it, from Homer Beoulve style spergs to SJW-esque spergs that still think GamerGate was always some evil harassing threat just because they want to clinch onto some Homer-tiered sperging. Like @Jaiman said, anyone still focused on it like Homer or any anti-GG sperg is mentally ill for still somehow thinking a dead hashtag is relevant.Still, fuck anyone who even expresses an opinion about Gamergate at this point, I wouldn't buy their shitty game either.
Person of European Heritage #112: Welcome to Relocation Block B, your new home. Your designated role is 'Bouncer'. Work hard, stay out of trouble, and we might let you stay in the UK.
In an alternative Britain where Brexit talks have collapsed, an extreme far-right government has taken power. Citizens of European heritage have been rounded up and exiled. Forced out of your previous life, you find yourself in the midst of a booming gig economy, fighting to scrape by and return to the city you call home.
Not Tonight is a post-Brexit management game, fusing a time-pressure RPG with a politically charged story where every decision matters. Will you join the resistance and fight the regime -- or keep your head down and hope that one day this will all be a distant memory?
nigga i think you've quoted me on this like 5 times now lolLike @Jaiman said, anyone still focused on it like Homer or any anti-GG sperg is mentally ill for still somehow thinking a dead hashtag is relevant.
Seen some reviews of it, seems like it does deliver similar to Papers Please gameplay, you check papers and allow or not people, receiving pay or penalty for actions. Not so sure about it introducing anything new though. The only opinion that probably would matter is the kind that laughs at the entirety of it, from Homer Beoulve style spergs to SJW-esque spergs that still think GamerGate was always some evil harassing threat just because they want to clinch onto some Homer-tiered sperging. The real question in this whole thing though is what was this anti-Brexit game? Is it something that actually has gameplay or is it just some slapdash shit that tries to sound deep in something for a quick buck?
Edit: Found it.

Looks like it tries to be like Paper's Please but it' setting doesn't sound as interesting so much as something that probably ends up sounding preachy.
Claire McCaskill Mocked GamerGate Before 6-Point Defeat in Missouri

Here’s your feel-good story of the year.
In one of the overlooked details of the midterms, it turns out that prior to her crushing 6-point defeat (in an otherwise good year for Democrats), former Senator Claire McCaskill publicly mocked GamerGate, the movement against fake news and political correctness in the video games industry.
The two-term Democrat Senator lost her Missouri seat to Republican attorney general Josh Hawley. While Hawley is a vocal critic of big tech, he has not to my knowledge ever accused Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 of being sexist.
Obviously, it’s unclear if McCaskill’s attempt to taunt gamers was the decisive factor in her loss. Or any factor at all.
Still though.
McCaskill made her comments in a 2015 skit for The Late Show With Steven Colbert, in which she placed “ethics in gaming journalism,” the chief complaint of GamerGate, on a list of things that men should “shut the hell up” about.”
Hello. I’m Senator Claire McCaskill. As one of just 20 women currently serving in the Senate, it’s important to me to encourage more women to run for office. But equally important is encouraging more men to sometimes just shut the hell up. It’s not that women don’t value your thoughts, it’s just that we don’t value all of them. The world doesn’t need your opinion on everything. For example, what women do with their bodies – hush! Who the next James Bond should be – zip it! Whether it’s pronounced ‘gif’ or ‘jif’ – shut up!
So as a public service, I made the following list of things women no longer need to hear men’s opinions on. Please take a moment to jot these down. Star Wars, pantsuits, selfies, Shonda Rhimes, curtains, carbs, millennials, body hair removal, religion, gluten, Harry Potter, nut allergies, Star Wars again, all art in general, whether or not to brine the thanksgiving turkey, and ethics in gaming journalism. If you can control yourselves and hold yourselves back from further expressing your opinions on any of these topics, we’ll let you keep weighing in on marijuana legalization. But that’s a huge, big ‘if.’ Thanks so much.
