Some would no doubt use it the same way Homer used a sandwich in some video in a response to feminism. Regardless of how one feels about polygonial tits, be it drooling over them or getting triggered by them, one would have to be autistic to really give any shit about it outside of any reaction that is outside of an indifferent or neutral don't care/that's nice/that's creepy reaction.

Then I looked back and saw what this whole "SJW vs. Anti-SJW" thing really was:

Two different groups of e-celebs and middle class white people having passive aggressive arguments on Twitter, while two different clickbait content farms profit off of it.

Meanwhile, none of the problems in the gaming industry get fixed because everyone is too hung-up on polygonal booty to really focus on everything.

Also, friendly reminder that CHS (I refuse to call her "Based Mom", because that shit was fucking cringey) is a senior fellow at the neoconservative "think tank" American Enterprise Institute, which is run by Dick Cheney.

Whether one did consider themselves pro or anti, it was all stupid when you had e-celebs and middle class whites having their online bitch-fight that brought about their own echo-chambers and hug-boxes such as KiA or GamerGhazi. As much as how you do have the whole censorship thing, the complaints don't seem to do much such as say Fire Emblem getting some better official translation (by that, I mean one sanctioned by Nintendo, not some fan translation) that isn't cringe or to go with something different, the whole Tracer pose butthurt that Blizzard had only led to the character not really getting any sort of censorship.

If one were to really ask if there was any good coming out of this that wasn't some pissy journalist SJW or MRA neckbeard accomplishing some goal, it was salt from either side that made you laugh.

In the earliest days, there were some real victories. Gawker was losing millions of dollars, the Society of Professional Journalists endorsed us, and it seemed that we'd be getting new faces for the movement every day.

Then, the Hulk Hogan lawsuit destroyed Gawker even more than we did, the SPJ thing fizzled out, and it turned out that every new "face of Gamergate" turned out to just be someone looking for kickstarter backers and/or a personal army. (There was a brief time when the lead singer from Disturbed very vocally endorsed the movement...which ended less than two months later because he hated the fact that we were defending Trevor Noah's tweets).

I think the only reason Gamergate keeps going is because every now and again, somebody writing for HuffPo uses it as a snarl word. It's to the liberal establishment what "Cultural Marxism" is to the far-right.

GamerGate keeps going because of tism from both sides. The pro and anti sides may as well have a symbiotic relationship of autism. Really though, you do hit the nail in terms of Gawker. Hulk Hogan's lawsuit did more damage than GamerGate did. Now as you said (and others as well), it's just people using it for personal reasons such as getting famous or selling some stupid book or whatever related to this whole thing from a biased viewpoint.

Anyways, as soon as the media cockblocked GG, it was over, there was nowhere else to turn to since now GG was smeared in the media and no one is going to give an honest interview to what is now considered the "Neo Nazis of the Internet". Alternative sites had little pull. So what happened is they just fought with SJW's online and circlejerked their favorite e-celebs. And since there are people in GG with a vested interest in keeping it going, either due to status, donations, power, and upsetting those dang SJW's.

It's kind of sad now how it's like the SJW's and GG NEEED each other now, like its their eternal battle. I'm sure if they all met in RL and got drunk they'd hate fuck each other.
