So there was that whole Overwatch pose being removed by Blizzard (GG said it was all because of one poster on the forums and the PR post about it not suiting the character was all lies and deception) and the new one is out. Since they've got a pin-up pose that shows of her behind, it's all fine to them.

Instead of thinking that this was the plan all along (old one was temporary that was always going to be replaced) this is either: a PR stunt, a "troll" from the developer towards a single post in the forums (and anybody who echoed the feeling) or them begging for forgiveness due to giving in to muh SJWs. Or they've instantly forgiven them now Blizzard has done what they want.

Apparently r/KotakuInAction thought it was a PR stunt which I have to admit, was a decent one imo.

Still funny that the original pose being removed brought a lot of overblown kneejerk rage though.

How empty does someone's life have to be that colored polygons mimicking the shape of a girl's behind become a major issue in their world?

I'm just wondering how deprived you have to be to then ignore that the pointless ass pose was a placeholder for a different one, but that still breaks something in the amygdala and you start screaming in impotent rage.

Beamdog, the developers of Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear, put out a post-release statement.

They're going to improve the tranny character everybody complained about and they've decided to take out the 'it's about ethics in [whatever]' line/meme/joke because it's out of character.
Mixed response from GG. Either they're happy the developer is removing content because they didn't approve of it or the developer shouldn't remove it. Some are self-aware enough to realise that it's the self-censorship they say they're against.

Inb4 'Beamdog successfully pressured by shitlords' tweets and then articles.
In other situations they would call out the people 'attacking' but now they're just calling the developers cowards and doing it to avoid discussing the other issues with the expansion. If it was just a bad expansion and they were saying they didn't like it, there wouldn't have been this much of a fuss.

One person's attempt to explain why this isn't self-censorship:
Here is the thing, there is a difference between self-censorship and what's going on here - I believe.

I see the tracer's butt thing as self censorship, I don't see the removal of this line as self censorship. The (possible?) creator of the line themselves admitted it was ideologically driven and shoe horned in. They then further bragged about being in their position and essentially said "Tough shit, deal with it."

Censorship in a creative medium (game making) implies there was something creative there in the first place and it was forced to be removed. The line was not creative, it was not an artistic addition, it was a shit post embedded into a niche genre targeting a large part of that niche's audience.

It was a political statement embedded into virtual world so far divorced from where the statement would make sense, that the statement itself exists in an obtuse state. It doesn't belong not because keeping it or removing it is a case of "for or against free speech". No- it doesn't belong because it's a case of an employee going off the rails and quite honestly not doing their job.

It's like me replacing the leather in a Lamborghini with shag carpet as some animal rights political statement and others coming to my defense saying if Lamborghini comes in and fixes the issue it's infringing on my rights of speech.

I'm betting not everyone at beamdog understood what the line was or meant - OR - once the shit hit the fan they realized "WE" also understood what the line was and meant.

I agree that the vast vast vast majority of the removal of content is censorship as in the chilling of expression of ideas (or forceful silencing of them). But not all removal of content - even statements and speech- is censorship or self censorship... alebit it's very hard to spot.

I could be wrong - but here is the thing, my politics aside - I would not pay for something that with malicious intent insults me. And not as a political statement of "boycott" - but as a personal point of pride.

The same way I wont shop at certain stores anymore because of horrible service.

TL;DR: I don't want to buy the Lamborghini while the shag carpet is still installed on the seats.

The only person who should care anywhere near this much is the person making it and the fact it's an ass would be the least important part of the whole thing.

I hope that sperg didn't strain anything trying to do all those mental gymnastics.

"Thing I like? Removing it is SELF-CENSORSHIP! Things that hurt my manbaby feefees? Well, removing it isn't self-censorship"

I could see the Beamdog people putting that ethics line in hoping to take advantage of a manufactured controversy for some press, underestimating the level of weaponised autism the lot of raving spastics would be willing to unleash over some small shit in an expansion for a 17 year old game.

If you'd like to see how gamergate or any other anti-sjw group will handle any possible future controversies, I've made a handy flowchart that you can follow.

With some adjustment, this could be applied to other mediums too, not just gaming.

Now, what we're gonna get from 'successful movements' like GG is a continual triggered state by content they dont like in games.

What a shit show.

(Btw a tranny content rating would be good right now
