Like I probably said long ago: If someone suddenly says that game journalism is shit, they clearly weren't paying attention. Game journalism has been terrible since its inception. Feminism didn't ruin it, some newspaper managers who said "okay, these video game thingies are popular these days, just hire some 15-year-olds to write articles about them" did.

Because most want to know if a game is good or not. Sure that may work for some but then again, everyone has different taste. Really, the numbers thing may seem accurate but then again, one can also say those numbers are rigged as @AnOminous said. Plus, people can get autistic when a game they like or dislike gets a score they don't want to see.
As much as how they can say the localization is shit and all, a faithful localization is better than actual translations. To accurately translate everything 100%, that would mean one would have to translate words that may not even have an English equivalent. At least having the main storyline be in intact while adapting it to a foreign audience wouldn't hurt.
Someone in this thread mentioned about old Final Fantasy games on the SNES getting translations because you had guys throwing a sort of autistic shit fit in thinking the translator/localizer was the devil because not everything was 100% accurate. Really, what is wrong with just pointing at something and laughing at it, especially if those behind it thought it was professional.
We'd have them but without the sort of charm that made them famous or infamous in terms of translations or localizations. If one does have to make more complaints about these outside of piss-poor attempts, the complaint should be given a focus on how gameplay could suffer if something was taken out (that is if said something does make a difference while playing the game).
