lmfao even when they realized they backed the wrong horse they can't even admit it. Hey, maybe literally all game reporting sites shouldn't have constantly shilled a con artist for diversity points incessantly for the year or two before people fucking had it and started shaming them with that one BPD hooker.
 
Remember G4TV? I barely do. Apparently it relaunched as YouTube and Twitch channels late last year, doing streamed versions of some of its old shows.

News about it has bubbled up through former GGers and sympathizers because on a recent episode, a female host named Froskurinn started sperging out about how gamers were slagging her because she wasn't as "bangable" (her word) as some of the eye candy hosts G4 had in its cable channel days. It seemed to surface some deep insecurities on her part (mixed in with fixating on a minority of trolls and haters in chats and comment sections rather than the majority just having a good time) because she has kind of a piercings-and-tats goth look going on - not really my thing but I know it is for a lot of guys. She wasn't gross by any means. At any rate, we have another case of a personality in the video game media trying to insist there's some massive problem of toxic masculinity among gamers.

Here's two good long-ish videos I listened to today which go over the subject. First one is by Short Fat Otaku, who I know some people don't like for being a Sargon orbiter, but I like him for the most part. He starts out with an interesting take about how GamerGate was a point where '90s ideas of freedom and irreverence slammed into modern day dogmatism before getting around to the G4TV thing.


And here's one from It'sAGundam. It first covers how the G4TV relaunch came about, and after covering the diatribe itself, goes over some criticism gamers had about the host completely unrelated to her looks which may have been what actually had set her off.

 
LOL. What's the point of bringing back G4 without Code Monkeys and Olivia Munn licking things while dressed as Wonder Woman? It's been supplanted by Twitch streamers, YouTube Let's Plays, and OnlyFans thots.

I really like Khalil/The Completionist, so it saddens me that he got sucked into this cargo cult. Thankfully, this reboot is not going to last based on the shit numbers the channel is getting, and will be free before they start handing out the purple shrouds and poisoned Kool-Aid.

It's obvious that this chick has raging insecurity issues, and can't take the banter that comes with being a gamer. She was also looking for a way to get attention without licking a console, and by golly did she succeed. This is going to follow her negatively for the rest of her life.

Partisan as in paramilitary, not partisan as in political party. Her twitter was made during the Syrian Civil War and she was very against Western intervention so styled herself as a civilian defender of Syria.

As far as I know, people tried to "expose" BME as a white dude, but never succeeded. I think she eventually got banned from Twitter.

Lulz, interesting. How did I miss that? That must have been right after I gave up on Twitter.

I have some reservations that a Japanese person can really write English that well, as I did at the time, but who knows, maybe she grew up in the States or something.

I recall that event very well. Mombot made these "doxing is bad!" anti-gg people openly display how gleeful they were at a doxing someone, exposing their hypocrisy - especially when they were all circling the wagons around Rob Marmalade despite evidence that he was abusing his position at CON to creep on women.

I think the reason Mombot is so good at English is because her job (according to them) was as a medical translator. Which means being better at English than most Japanese natives is essential for her job.

I remember reading that Mombot "reveal" article/interview years ago. My first thought was that Gamergate was a "phenomenon" primarily centred in U.S./English-speaking world, so I thought it was odd that someone claiming to be a female medical worker from Tokyo would be caught up in that mess. But given how she stated that they spent their free time arguing about video games and went on 8Chan to voice their opinions, it all made sense.

It always stuck out to me that people would go so far as to illegally contact a California government worker and read personal records for blackmail material.

Since they claimed to be a medical research translator, I wouldn't be surprised if they had worked or lived in the U.S. at some point in their life. Either for education/work-related purposes or to improve their English skills.
