Yikes... most of those things (especially the mirrors, constant self-comparisons) really, really hit home with me. Seriously this almost sounded like something I'd write...

So an extra, wonderfully strong FUCK YOU to the exploitative shitheads trying to use her suicide as a "GOTCHA" when they were the sociopathic fuckers that doxxed a trans minor over a fucking wikipedia article! It's just as bad as that Elliot Rogers crap but they had to make it personal.

Took the words right out of my mouth. As someone with clinical depression, I can safely say that a LOT of what she wrote has nothing to do with outside influences and almost everything to do with your own diseased brain fucking with you. Her words were scary in how closely they sounded like my own thoughts at times. Times like this make me very glad I don't have a twitter, lest I go on a tirade against people who would use something so tragic to further their own agenda. It makes me sick.

It's kind of funny. They make an effort to keep outside traffic from coming in by calling it "#blamehergate" and "#flamergate", but I found it with something totally unrelated.

If you skip to the last couple of pages, you can see them talking about GG people are already celebrating Kate's suicide or are completely awful for preemptively posting about how her death has nothing to do with it. The reasoning being that they're making it all about themselves. Other than that it's just more of the same we've seen. Talking about how it's just misogyny disguised as a political movement, Zoe's twitter being a good source of debunking claims, etc.

I'm really tired of people saying I hate women because I just want fairness in my hobby.

That's because one of the major flaw of SJW's is that they see everything as collectives, not individuals. Everyone in a particular group must think, act, and share the same "values" and if one person is out of line then the whole group is defective and that person who is different must be ousted and destroyed as they're a threat to the rest of the group. It's why the minorities that do speak up for GG get doxx'd and harrassed so hard.

It's why no matter how far an individual white-cis bends over backwards for a SJW, they will never accept him because somewhere out there, there is a woman hating MRA who is also white-cis and since we don't dox that person, try to get them fired and mail packages of drug filled needles to his house, they will consider every one of us just as bad as the one MRA guy since we all him to exist and speak, no matter how stupid he is. It's also why when one person dies, they use it as a means to spin the death and garner support as an individual means nothing and is only seen as another opportunity for their group to possibly advance in some way.

I was hoping for more damning content, or at least something more interesting, but it is kind of interesting seeing the usual gang of recalcitrant shits complaining about "not being contacted", about Milo not being a real journalist, and about how their readers are all big neckbeard manbabies.

In the thread, journalists complain that they were not contacted for comment, despite the inherent hypocrisy of an industry in the throes of widespread ethical failures bleating about right of reply. I continue to digest other archives sent to me by previous members of the list; further stories will likely be forthcoming on the basis of that material.

Adland.tv has posted a follow up on some of their previous articles. This one is absolutely scathing towards Gamasutra and Leigh Alexander, and - shock of shocks - finds some real faults in the "insult and abuse your reader base" strategy of money making. It also queued me in on the name of the letter-writing campaign: Operation Disrespectful Nod

Other companies that create games and related goods, such as Activision, Ubisoft, and EA can expect many emails in the days to come, and should sit down and figure out a course of action right now - smart PR companies might want to stay ahead of the game (pun intended) by contacting their clients now.

Computer Business Review covers Intel dropping Gamasutra as well, with a more even hand. Both sides are covered (though it seems to be more pro-Gamergate) and that in itself is a surprise. Of course I love the sites that give full and total support to a cause I also support, but seeing evenness in reporting is a great thing.

Advocates of Gamergate openly campaign against what they see as journalistic corruption and false accusations of sexism. Several high profile female video game journalists have faced Twitter abuse and death threats from followers of the cause.

Lastly, we have an Open Letter from a veteran game dev begging Intel to reconsider dropping their advertising from Gamasutra. From what I can gather, this is the big new tactic that Anti-Gamergaters are latching on to - that sending a flood of emails to a company that has dropped a partner will convince them the error of their ways? Haha. Okay guys. I'm sure a corporate entity with teams of lawyers and number crunchers want their business being attached to this big fucking ordeal. Your letter campaign is doing nothing more than pointing out to advertisers how they need to stay the fuck away, whatever the cost, until this "ends" or "blows over" or both.

I believe that pulling your support over recent editorial choices is a mistake; I believe that you've largely been contacted by a group who are not made up of the site's audience. It's a shame to see you pull your advertising dollars in hostage to a virulent hate campaign orchestrated by a small number of people who use the Internet's anonymity as a shield.

Hate to sound like an insensitive ass, but is there any confirmation the dev really did commit suicide? I say this because faking death over the internet for attention/whatever is literally as old as the internet.

That said, if this is real this is fucking horrible, and people exploiting her death to push their bullshit even though all evidence points to it being completely unrelated is fucking abhorrent.

I may not be so bright but it's pretty likely Kate's suicide was a result of some severe dysphoria and depression. So if you wanted to make it a talking point, shouldn't it be ease of/speed of accessing vital resources for trans people?

Harassment is not ok, but imagining people calling up Zoe in the middle of the night to scream at her is making me laugh at how surreal it is.
