Ah yes, death threats.
Make no mistake about it – I’m not taking a balanced view on this. What happened throughout #GamerGate was abhorrent. I’m not talking about the conduct of journalists, who have no case to answer against the almost unanimously unfounded accusations that have been thrown at them. I’m talking about the vile strain of misogynistic anger thinly veiled under the fabricated guise of concerns regarding media ethics.
I've tried to tamp down on my posting of stuff since I don't want things locked, but I read an article that was just too damn good. It's an opinion piece brought to us by our old friends at The Market for Computer and Video Games who are VERY CONCERNED that publishers haven't spoken out in defense of poor journalists.
At least Ben Parfitt is up front about admitting he believes Games Journalists are blameless paragons of virtue and light. In my own full discloser: I didn't read anything else in his article, except to skim for his two main talking points -
Goodness, it sounds like publishers are actually business minded individuals who don't want to piss off their customer base and don't have a need for a corrupt specialist press who is drawing negative attention to the industry they purport to cover.
- Publishers don't want to alienate a game-buying audience who might be evil sexists
- Publishers think journalists are worthless and would rather have youtubers like TotalBiscuit showing off their product
Who will think of the poor journalist?![]()

Frankly, a lot of the people in the industry seem like pussies who are always on their tippy toes so as not to piss off their social activist friends or offend anyone. Wouldn't want to say anything substantive and rustle any jimmies now, would we. This SJW shit really is a cancer. Can't listen to any more of this. It's ridiculous. They are still saying that a flood of negative comments on your twitter feed is "harassment". They can't even acknowledge that twitter is a public soapbox and if you use it too insult people you will get a lot of negativity. No acknowledgement of gaming appealing to mostly to men and still demanding something be done about the gender gap. o.O Still saying female characters can't be sexualised as well.
So many angry feels.

Just saw this on Reddit. I love it when a plan comes together

These people are aware of what ISIS is and they like to compare gamers to ISIS just because said gamers don't like Dell, gaming journos, and whatever else there is. Really, it does show the maturity of those that like to say gamers are like or even worse than ISIS since it may as well be like saying young kids thinking vegetables are more evil than Satan.Surely these people must be aware that ISIS is a group of murdering rapists who bury women and children alive, crucify and behead people by the hundreds.
I mean, surely if they know enough to reference ISIS at all they must be aware of this.
They're pretty good, or at least the first two were.https://soundcloud.com/radio_nero
Haven't seen this posted yet. Milo's been doing a weekly show.
ALL GAMERS RISE FOR OUR (provisional) NATIONAL ANTHEM
https://youtube.com/watch?v=0yDrtNEr_5M
Just pretend the russian words are some scathing indigtment of the corrupt and dogmatic journos and their pet devs/"cultural critics" and the glory of the army of average internet cumbuckets who have risen to seize gaming for the benefit of all cumrades
is there actually no way to divide the ridiculous perception of sexism and woman-hating people from those that actually care about games?
can't we just come up with a trendy new hashtag? isn't that all they want?![]()
