Searching through the site I have no idea how a thread like this wasn't already made, but oh well.
Gacha games are free-to-play, pay-to-win games primarily designed for mobile devices that feature overly sexualized characters with Anime/Manga styling. Several of these games like Genshin Impact and Blue Archive feature a disproportionate amount of anime children. This is where it becomes a problem. In the Blue Archive thread, the OP admits that the game almost died until the creators started to pay porn artists to make doujinshi of the game characters. There is so much pornography of the game that when compared to Touhou, a Japanese video game series also noted for having an overwhelming amount of pornography, Blue Archive and Genshin Impact have much more porn uploaded to Danbooru per year.
GameYears oldDanbooru postsPosts per year
Blue ArchiveFour (released in 2021)~356k356,000 / 4 = 89,000
Genshin ImpactFive (released in 2020)~268k268,000 / 5 = 53,600
TouhouTwenty (actually much older but Danbooru was started in 2005)~990k990,000 / 20 = 49,500
As we can see from the table above, Blue Archive has more than twice the posts per year of Touhou, except even the latter contains a higher percent of adult characters with very little sexualization in the game itself. Why were these threads created? Why did the OP of the Blue Archive thread say they had yet to play the game? Can you imagine someone starting a serious thread about Candy Crush on the Games subforum with that person never playing it once? Makes you think...
Genshin Impact isn't much better. It caters to the same demographic and since it was made by the Chinese it was outed as spyware the same year the game was released. I could go on about how Islamic these games are but you get the idea. Just go to the Lolicon Defense Force thread.

In some ways, I would actually prefer threads about discussion of lolicon hentai, pedophilia, and the like. At least then those posters would be labelled and constantly harassed, with all of their threads sent to Spergatory The Archives so I wouldn't have to see them. There is even a pink triangle lolicon in the BA thread that posts to this day.
I don't really care about the other gacha games discussed on the Kiwi Farms (i.e. Nikke, Azur Lane, Umamusume) because they contain small amounts of child characters. They're still garbage though.

Gacha games are for soulless gook niggas who are too bitch made to lose it all on a real gamba website.

Ho-ho nooo I jus rost it all, my anime loli didn't come home. i fucking hate rife dude I kiww sewf wight now goodnight 🍣:lossmanjack:🍚🍛

I wonder if the creators got inspired by Randy Pitchfork trying that same stunt with Battleborn, but that attempt failed and that game died a few years later.

Are you also saying that you show more respect for Concord, Dustborn, Veilguard, Mindseye, TLOU2, etc; because they cater to repelling the male gaze?

Im not 100% but I believe its they paid porn artists to draw regular art/characters for the game, so a tiny difference. The major one I've heard was having Dorontabi draw one official piece, and he's the man who began the "correction" meme. I vaguely remember Azur Lane having something of supporting non-guro art or something, and Umamusume not supporting any due to the owners of the horses being touchy. I wouldn't be surprised if other gachas also were close to the more explicit scene.

I wouldn't be surprised if gachas are also enjoying a bit more limelight right now because of the sex appeal not being very widespread. You can see it also with Stellar blade or Wuchang, mediocre games that got a ton more exposure just due to sex appeal.

>gatcha hate thread
>look inside
>its just OP bitching about porn

No one is forcing you to jack off to gatcha-shit. The actual issues with gatcha-shit is how its insanely predatory and its propped up entirely by the chinese. The gotcha model continues to spread to other genres because the chinese literally can not stop buying into them. We are getting gatcha GTA because of the chinese, and it is only going to get worse as western devs collapse. The characters are honestly the only good aspect of gtacha, since they have to stand out for anyone to drop money on them. Even that aspect has been eroding, since the chinese in particular are pumping them out in the exact same genshin/ZZZ artstyle.

Explicit art exists for two major reasons. The first is that they are big, so SOMOEONE will naturally just draw porn of it. The second is that they hook people on character design and personalities. Gatchas cast a wide net of characters to try and catch whales. So the typical gatcha will feature characters for every taste under the sun. Its also why you see tons of SFW art work/doujins of just the characters fucking around. Did you miss that when you were comparing booru posts? The normal fanart is far easier to find and typically more numerous than the NSFW.

No one is forcing you to look at the Blue Archive thread, nor interact with anyone on the forums.

You don't care to hate on gatcha games in general... So you made a gotcha hate thread?

Gacha and anime took off because they fulfilled a market that was not being served by the powers that be in the West. The West was providing grumpy middle aged men in their AAA games, roided out men, or extremely cartoony characters like Crash Bandicoot. People who just wanted young fit beautiful looking people were not being served, and then the asians came in and did just that and have grasped the attention of two generations. And then there is also the tone of the stories of these Asian games that are sincere, introspective, tout the values of community without being ashamed of it, etc. Stuff that you do not often see in high production value American media, which is highly cynical and "ironic". The settings tend to be far more imaginative than boring medieval fantasy #9712 or futuristic sci fi #1826 or fallout post-apocalypse.

As for the characters looking too young, that depends. In general they are often just young asian women. Asian women are generally shorter and more petite looking than their Western counterparts. Xiangling showing a little leg or Fu Xuan having a back window is pretty innocuous as they are young ladies, not kids. A general issue with these discussions is that you have Westerners coming in and unilaterally declaring that just because characters don't look like their women (or their idea of women as sold by mass media), that the character is too young and then leaping to ascribing sinister intentions to the creators and their customers. This is very dangerous as for years now there have been so many accusations of pedophilia thrown around that people have begun tuning out or being skeptical whenever they hear it, even if in those instances it is justified. The boy who cried wolf. This happened before with the so-called "satanic panic" in the 80s, and now we are paying the price because morons like Jack Thompson and certain pastors inoculated everyone to the shouts.

Now at the same time, yes there are a lot of anime and gachas that do have suspect intentions towards definitely very young looking characters. Andira's outfit and second splash art in Granblue Fantasy is egregious. That is very definitely not a young lady and is a kid. Catura being a rather unintelligent airhead and then daydreaming about marrying you is quite peculiar. Piper's design in ZZZ which is egregious as well. That stuff should not be done. ZZZ's art director being a loli hentai artist is also eyebrow raising.

As for the gacha games themselves, they are the result of terrible economic conditions that has shaken the entertainment industry. Conventional one time purchase games are extremely risky, but people flock to high production value games which cost a lot to produce. But in the age of the internet, people have been splintered into countless different microniches. It is extremely difficult to get millions of people all onboard on the same thing, and thus make a comfortable profit margin by selling lots of boxes at scale. So you need to somehow make more money off of the limited customers you already do have. Except the masses don't have that much money. So you need to target the few people who do have quite a lot of spending money. Enter the gacha format, where those very well off people will spend a lot of money to buy dupes and weapons for their characters and show off their teams. Those people mostly subsidize the game for everyone else. This monetization system is here to stay and there is no going back unless the economy somehow gets better and most people get more spending money. This system originated on mobile games in the first place because most people outside of America cannot afford expensive gaming rigs, but they might have a phone.

The qualities of gacha games are often overlooked. The Japanese ones are often written by professional writers (many of whom fled the dying novel industry). Japanese gacha writing tends to be better than your average videogame. The character designs are also generally pretty good, many of them being drawn by former Pixiv Fantasia winners. Music, etc. Gameplay has gotten a lot better in recent years.

There is a frustrating caveat in that since the monetization model is built on endearing players to characters so that they will roll for the character (or selling the character just off of the visual appeal), the characters become very samey. Not only do they almost always look beautiful (or not unattractive), they all have to be always good, or they are all made out to be powerful and cool, or they are given a tragic backstory. You don't get characters who give into temptation, or characters who snap at the protagonist, etc. So gacha characters are unnaturally perfect people who never make mistakes. You also don't get weird character designs often. HSR despite ostensibly being set in space has yet to include a robot or an inhuman looking alien.

Probably the biggest flaw with the genre is the irritating systems revolving around material and RNG equipment grinds. The devs are terrified of losing people's attention and thus design the game around trying to make you come back every day to use your stamina or farm relics to make a character slightly more powerful for the endgame, and the endgame is often the only thing to do after beating the story aside from event minigames. So in a way they are like modern MMOs in which you can easily get to the latest content and then there isn't much actual reason to stick around until the next patch.

The gacha market does appear to have reached saturation. Genshin came out and made gangbusters, but then HSR came out and split Genshin's revenue between the two. Then WuWa came out and hasn't come anywhere near close to Genshin even post HSR split. And then ZZZ came out and isn't even on the map. I am not optimistic for Arknights Endfield releasing next month, it'll have a spike in the first couple months like they all do, but after that? We are seeing other gacha games like Duet Night Abyss and ANANTA announcing that they will not have gacha elements, so it seems they don't want to try to compete in this market. Ultimately the amount of spenders is limited and they are already invested in the earlier titles, and are unlikely to abandon their investments and start over in newer games. Mihoyo's next projects are more photorealistic looking. They probably see gacha as a dead end too and want out.

I can't even understand the point of people who play this shit
like you know, it's designed to leech money out of you, and it will never give anything that you want, so what's the point in pouring the water out of the ocean?
Do they like the process? I've seen some footage of the gameplay, and it looked like visual vomit of partical effects and crazy high numbers flying out, but the health bar of the enemy weren't really moving. Which is what I expected, that every enemy is a damage sponge so you would buy every booster or whatever to ease the pain. So it's not the gameplay
Is it the story? Maybe, but I doubt it. No one talks about the story, so I assume it's nothing special and everyone skips it, which is expected since it is a fucking mobile game for Chinese and Korean bugmen. Plus, you can't really flash the story to advertise it.
So the only thing that is left is gooning. Make a big titty generic anime girl #698, stick a halo or wings on her and - boom! You have your new genshin character. You cannot convince me that people play this shit for other reason other than to goon for pixels on the screen. That's literally the only reason to do so.

It's multiple factors. First of all it's basically the only thing left if you like jrpg's, since Asians have gone all in with the genre and the amount of good RPGs released yearly is in the single digits.

Gambling wise there is fun if you are f2p, it's the usual autistic grind towards a goal that might exist, before going into the next goal. The better games you can get a lot of content without needing anything more than the battle pass.

Gameplay wise it's usually decent. Ironically the end game where the big numbers pop up is usually the least exciting since by then you basically settled into a specific playstyle with little experimenting and team building. At worst it's a standard MMO experience.

Story can sometimes be surprisingly good, though in a lot of games it's either excuse, or gets buried by layers upon layer of lore no one cares about.

Gooning is less of a factor since it's not like there's a lack of porn online. Plus needing to engage with the characters makes you care about them rather than wanting to fuck them.

It's still an infuriating genre where you are rarely promised an actual satisfactory ending, but it's par the course for modern media.

Yeah I've never spent a single cent on a gacha game. They're still enjoyable.

They are definitely predatory though. If you've ever wondered why Chinese UI design is so bad it's because they want you to just start clicking on things until you stumble upon Xi's cash shop. If you are an adult you can just use the secret, forbidden technique of not buying anything.

I've been playing Where Winds Meet, which is free, and the NPCs are powered by an LLM, so I'm sure me trying to rap battle them is costing China more money than I am providing them, which is zero.

These things are waifu generators. You'll notice that the quality and variety of male characters can be lacking. Because the vast majority of players are just horny waifufags. A lot of the Gensin outfits look really dumb and are just there to accentuate the booba.
