Povera Italia.

If by some miracle they beat Austria, Belgium will dismantle them.

This is the Italy I've been watching for the last 15 years, leaking defense and useless offense.

INGERLUND won 2-0.

The rest of the tournament is unimportant. We beat Germany at Wembley. It is coming home regardless of what happens now.

/soccer on fucking suicide watch as the endless bashing of the England team since Brexit. Although I expect them to say that Germany are shit and England should beat them, but the next team, oh thats the real test. Rinse repeat.

France will win the cup.
I'd have agreed with you until this latest batch of matches happened and the football deities apparently selected "I want some lulz."

Heck France have no excuse since they saw what almost happened to Spain. That last save was amazing though.

Got links to any good threads? I do like some seething.

Ukraine through to meet INGERLUND in the quarters after a winning goal in injury time to extra time.

Not sure what the outcome of that might be. Ukraine are kind of an unknown quantity.

Meanwhile, the big highlight of the final round of the Copa América is how Messi scored one hell of a screamer... against Bolivia.

There is a shitfuckload of distance between South American and European footy, and this disparity is even more visible when both continental competitions are taking place simultaneously. The only team that maybe, just maybe, could stand a chance down here is Brazil, but not only are their tactics already outdated, everyone and their dogs agree this isn't the free-flowing Jogo Bonito of yore.

You can blame that on CONMEBOL denying CONCACAF. Should have merged forever ago! Frankly the state of American (North and South) Football would be much better if South America just admit that it needs North American resources to stabilise it in terms of structure, whereas North American "Soccer" needs to embrace more European elements to make it's leagues appealing to the global markets. Renaming the MLS teams isn't enough.

Most of the notable players that are present in Copa América are already playing within the UEFA or CONCACAF leagues. Instead, meme teams Australia and Qatar (from AFC / OFC) get invitations to partake in the CONMEBOL events rather than those within boarder distance.

CONMEBOL is way too fucking proud to propose a serious merge. At most, there was a friendly talent exchange between competitions until some time ago. Since the 90's, when Copa América expanded to 12 teams instead of its usual 10, they always invited two CONCACAF teams, usually Mexico and either the US or Costa Rica. Plus, Mexican teams competed in Libertadores and Sudamericana (our sudaca versions of the Champions League and the Europa League, respectively) until 2015 or so, but after lots of complaining (especially after CONMEBOL studied the idea of accepting MLS teams into the aforementioned championships as well) they pulled out.

And when Brazil took part in one single Gold Cup, in 2003 or so, they trotted their way to the finals and only lost because they blew their stack a bit too early, and Mexico had the high ground either way.

The 2016 Copa América Centenario edition was supposed to be a test of sorts of a unified competition, but due to the US federation doing a rather rushed job out of promoting and organizing it, coupled with most teams not particularly liking the idea of playing another Copa América the year after the latest iteration, soured the relations past the point of no return.

Right now, CONMEBOL are more interested in aping everything UEFA comes up with in terms of competitions. Both Libertadores and Sudamericana are now played in single-game finals in neutral venues, and there is a qualifying round for extra teams to join the group phases. They also want to play Copa América simultaneously with the Euros every year starting from 2024.

well MLS is not a legit league so it should not be allowed in any championships.

well there is just one good thing comming from all of this, germany will have a good coach next game.

Just went to get my first vaccine shot. It's done by professionals in a redecorated sports hall by the local stadium showing the Euros on big screen. On the way there, every family TV was watching the match, everyone had windows open, and fireworks went off as (we) won. It was quite surreal. Maybe I've missed out on footies..

Who am I kidding; nothing like european rivalry to fuel the fire of nationalism. The US must be on absolute copium never experiencing this cause the SuperbOwl is thoroughly inbred compared.

Should have picked whatever Ukranians like to play at funerals since that match was more of an execution.

I thought the first goal from Harry Kane was a bit lucky, esp. as INGERLUND then seemed to go a bit wobbly and at the end of the first half they looked like they were pushing. But then Harry "Slabhead" Maguire put one away, and a second from Harry Kane and it just felt like the Ukrainians had all the wind taken out their sails.

Welp, Denmark next in the semis. Now I think this might actually be a tougher game for INGERLUND than the Germany game was in the round of 16. Denmark lost their first game to Finland only because they were in shock about one of their players almost dying. But since then they've been playing really well. But I think that INGERLUND will squeak it. Just.
