Even if you think of it that way, Arsenal's been getting with doing this for ages. Suddenly it's a foul when it goes against them. Ignoring stuff like Rice bearhugging Mavro as well in the same corner

This is the end result of continued weakness of the officials on 'soft' fouls

Yeah I don't disagree with the idea that it happens all the time because it does. The problem comes down to the inconsistent refereeing and the feckless governing bodies who refuse to clamp down on shit one way or the other. Either all of the bullshit that happens in the box is ok or none of it is. None of this fluctuation from game to game, week to week. It's the same with rules not being applied properly like yellows for simulation. The rules are clear, but yet and still you'll get one player booked for every 30 instances of simulation. And different referees using their subjective interpretations of the law leading to inconsistent calls doesn't help to alleviate the frustration we all feel.

I don't know what the answer is but it's obvious the PGMOL et al. aren't fit for purpose.

I'm with you for the most part. A big part of it is that there are only 3 refs on the pitch and they've all been trained to watch the ball. Off-the-ball fouls are very rarely seen, and that includes all the shit players get up to in the box on corners.

Possible middle ground: If you're going to go to VAR, review the entire play. Sure, Dickhead grabbed Asshole's jersey, but Fuckface was trying to hump Jerkoff's leg like an ill-trained dog. Retake the kick, and keep your hands to yourselves boys.
